bought this on a cassette in a supermarket for about 2 dollars 20 years ago. the cassette smelled really weird like chemical stuff, petrol maybe. I played it over and over again, it' so f***ing great
Damn, never heard this version before. Shit's so much better. Always wondered why I didn't like Raw Power as much as their other 2 albums. God, stupid-ass record companies.
I like the abrasively loud mix better than the original. It sounds like every instrument came to work that day with a hangover from 30 straight hours of drinking bad tequila and chainsmoking Lucky Strikes.
To all of you out there who don't like the distortion: you'll just never get it. You'll never understand punk rock. Your idea of punk rock is probably the slickly produced Sum41, Green Day, blah blah. This is the real McCoy and it's got the right sound. The Iggy remixes sound WAY better than the Bowie B.S.. And by the way, that's magnetic tape, not digital clipping. We need more music that sounds like this.
There are plenty of ways to make mixes sound "louder" or "more distorted" besides just digitally clipping the hell out of them and ruining them. I still kinda prefer these mixes though.
the lyrics are sort of 30 years advanced. i did not do it. you did not do it. but i mean, ever you had a blister? this guy and his group blisters my ear. i mean to say "m%$#^Tf%$^vk45. this is guy and his band whipps ass!
There's a bar i go to where one asshole would put about 20 old c/w songs. I mean that old Hank Williams Sr. shit. I would then play this just for him. Man, he would be pissed.
no comments? well here is one. no one can play this song. except the Stooges. no one understands how bloodthirsty this song is. it is the next movie sound track. the thing is, you can't play this song. i can play this song, and my band played it like a mutherfucker. lincoln park, michigan.... now suck my dick.
Reminds me of the 2nd July 2010 when I went to see them live. As soon as they rushed on stage playing this song, I yelled the lyrics and the guitar notes! Long live the Iguana!
It's good. I like it. Every part of this shows a single intent. Can you imagine a guitar solo like that on some modern, "metal" album? They would never have the balls. This should have been much more successful the first time around.
The punk started with MC5 and the Stooges, the garage sound.Today I see some bands that say to be punk,it´s a shame.I´m speaking the emocore.I hope the style comeback, because it´s hard to listen emo.I love style music,The Stooges rules!!
I got this L.P It`s really a Raw Power. This man taught too many people how to be a superstar one. Thera is a powerful overdose of crazy & talent undreground!
As a longtime Stooges fan, I nearly creamed myself when I found out this song was on the StarCraft II soundtrack. I mean, it's a cover, but it's impossible to go wrong with a Stooges song.
Punk can be just as soft as rock. listen to The Mob, Mischief Brew, Zounds, Killing Joke, Joy Division, Thatcher On Acid, The Minutemen. All had soft songs But Iggy embodies the loud destructive core of both. He is to rock what Led Zeppelin or The Who were, he is to punk what the Ramones or Misfits were. Also, Iggy has mellow stuff too, listen to The Passenger.
Why the band hated this mix? Don't know. This mix sounds killer and clearer and altogether better all around. And that's just listening to it on a computer.
that's probably why they hated it. I do admit I like understanding the words but otherwise its not as energetic, and the song is "raw power" after all.
Who is to say that iggy's version is not what the song sounded like in the studio? Maybe distortion is another band member ;) I just can't listen to bowie's version. it could be because i have iggy's version in FLAC and bowie's in mp3, but thats just how i feel :)
i love guns n roses and especially axl but iggy is unique...i also believe that the original one is most of the times the best one,and i am sure about this one

Why fuck you very much...how 'bout all the people who have died at the hands of US funded and supported right-wing military dictatrships and death squads? Don't preach to me...physician heal theyself.
Whatever...just remember they don't want you to think on your own. We (the US) is always good no matter what we do. If you remember that you'll be just fine. Funny thing is I was about to change my AV because I was bored with it...now I think I'll keep it a bit longer, just on principles.
it's from the album by Iggy & The Stooges also called Raw Power. it's still available in most shops, and will soon be coming back into public eye, because the band that recorded it has just reformed.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hey man, it doesn't take any talent to make music like this. Any short-bus fool with a cheap guitar and an extra Y chromosome could come up with this vomit. No offense.
That must be why Rolling Stone called this the best pure power rock song ever made. It is a defining moment for rock and every rock song after it. It is easily one of the best 100 rock n roll songs ever made. You must also dislike the Ramones, The NY Dolls, Television, The Sex Pistols. They ARE rock. Everything else is elevator music. You know, crap like U2 , Coldplay, Dave Mathews and other commercial no talents. Green Day would not exist if it were not for bands like the Stooges, The MC5.......
My band, The Brigands, from Lincoln Park, MI used to cover Raw Power in the 1983-84 period. it was met with silence. The "civilians" didn't know what to think; the visiting musicians were astounded. Powerfull sone, da.
I can see it. regular people don't understand the significance of the past. they don't know that everything came from some where else. This song personifies almost everything that punk, rock period represents. Well, to me anyway.
The only thing greater than will power...is RAW POWER!

You know it brother! I am from Detroit and saw Iggy and the Stooges at the Masonic. Don't need drugs or booze, just RAW POWER.

Any idea where to get this song? Im collecting Guns N´ Roses Spaghetti incident originals and having trouble with finding these and few other songs.
These kinda bands seem to be so god damn rare find in music stores around here..

it's from the album by Iggy & The Stooges also called Raw Power. it's still available in most shops, and will soon be coming back into public eye, because the band that recorded it has just reformed.

Hey man, it doesn't take any talent to make music like this. Any short-bus fool with a cheap guitar and an extra Y chromosome could come up with this vomit. No offense.

that's exactly what iggy would say...and i think you are stupid enough to be capable of doing the same

Well, to me anyway.

mp3's and cd's have way lower sound quality
