Did you verify the md5sum of the iso? If you did then I would recommend making an iso off of the disk you burned then checking the md5 off of that to compare just to make sure that is not the problem. Back when 9.10 came out I ran into a similar problem. The solution for me was continually tapping the enter key as it was booting. I later found out that I could have tapped any key. Come over to Ubuntu Forums and you will probably get a lot more real help than you will here.
Have you tried the earlier versions of Ubuntu then upgraded? I've got 10.10 working on my laptop, it's really really really fast doing anything, but some of the stuff still isn't working like the cloud and some small stuff. I think the release date is October 20 for 10.10! O you might try taking out the small battery, on the mother board, that saves the time on your motherboard to reset some motherboard stuff.....
Ok some things I have not seen others say and or from what you said...try to clean the cd laser with a cd cleaning kit and see if that helps...it maybe that the laser could be a tab bit dirty....even more so if you used that computer to burn the cd...did you try to use the cd in another computer to see if it worked? the burner that your using could be falty and causing the problem as well.
IF you want to stick with UBUNTU then install it using the alternative CD. it may work for you that way. BUT i would recommend you try something OTHER than ubuntu!!
@GCS2K8 then my guess is to try the alternative CD for ubuntu - google it .. or try a diff distro. like pclinuxos < its great for brginners. its out of teh box too. ubuntu/ mint / debian has something against your hardware - my guess is. you can look at the forums.
@GCS2K8 if ubuntu / mint dont work ( they are the same backbone) so i guess you can try pclinuxos / mandriva / fedora and so on. easy to use would be pclinuxos and mandriva. its ALL linux after-all. you make of it what you want :) so if pclinuxos works nice with your hardware then use that. i use pclinuxos on 1 on my systems that hate linux mint.
GCS2K8 I hope you give linux mint a go and try it it may work for you. you can also try pclinuxos or opensuse or mandriva you know Ubuntu is NOT the only linux distro. and mint / pclinuxos / mandriva are actually easier than ubuntu and come with all teh codecs.
hey man if Ubuntu Doesnt WORK for you use linux mint. Ubuntu never worked nicely for me. Linux mint is based on ubuntu +codecs + java+flash+bug fixes. Try linux mint It uses ubuntu repositories. its basically the "better" ubuntu. Alot of ubuntu users switched to linux mint and I am one of them. been using mint for teh past 2 years. THEY do a better job than mint. That is exactly what ubuntu used to do for my in 9.04. SO TRY LINUX MINT. DVD version - comes with alot of extras.
@Raja221 mint does a better job. that is why their releases are few weeks behind ubuntu. BECAUSE they fully test it before they release it. they revise ubuntu + fix it + add upon it.
@Robospidera1 Hi thanks for your response! Its on Version 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 and 10.10 of Ubuntu and I have downloaded many copies of it and its the same problem. Its not how im burning it either because I have burned it on different occassions on different CD's and get the same outcome!
