these are not Drones from the aurora, you think that the ancients designed there ships with one deletable weapons system? these are energy cannons, the asurans copied them and used them mainly due to the fact they didn't have the capability to use drones effectively.
This representation is flawed in so many ways... Railguns would never deal with Ancient shields, no effin' way; drones are not "balls", adding some sort of tail to one model and copy+pasting it shouldn't have been a problem; drones fire from a single point on the ship, not from random points on the hull; Ancient battleships were never that bright, another easy-to-do thing you didn't bother to do.
well who won ?? the rail guns of the Daedalus would not have been stopped by the enemy ( replicator ) shields.. shields are for energy weapons only...but not even with the new Asgard shields and the McKay modification to them would they have stood up to that many drones if they would have even stopped the drones since they are not energy weapons but physical missiles
set aside the fictional discussion of who would win, the Aurora tactics are all wrong, you do not divide your fire , you concentrate it on one target. Also the Aurora should rotate on its axis to bring more of its turrets to have a clear shot at its target..

Set it as transparent, give it a texture, then insert a light at the weapon impact point. After that, it's just scripting the light source to turn on, when you want it to. Takes all of 20 minutes to do, from scratch.
WTF, all those drones can penetrate the Daedalus and Apollo's shields... and i don't think that many drones would actually fit on Aurora... I admit the Asgard shields are very very powerful but all those drones?? and how the fuck did the Railguns deplete Auroras shields?? They can't even deplete Ori shields... Tauri shields were made by the asgard who were also around during the time of the ancients. That means that the asgard have had 10000 years to make better shields, we never actually saw asgard shields up against drones at any point during the series.

b/c mass equals to soo much energy, it will deplete the shields quickly, and b/c the relativistic mass equation, the high speed projectiles will have more mass
@worshippriest Meh, Ancient ships were all sitting more or less dormant for 10 000 years, you'll recall. Maybe the power conduits weren't what they used to be. Or maybe there's a sabateur on board, or they beamed a small explosive into the shield generator room, or beamed the shield generator itself out of the spacecraft. Stargate spacebattles are rarely slugging matches, after all.

this is rather well done though the Aurora class warship would have destroyed those BC-304's (unless thay had the beam waepons) the simple rail guns these 304's were shooting would never have broken the shields that quickly or really at all....unless of course that one was armor tanked XD jk
I personally think the animations are very good, the weapons fire could stand to have been smaller for the railguns and faster over all, and the lack of sound took away from the quality a bit, and I noticed the weapons fire passed through the sheilds, not impacted on them. Aside from these small things, it was a great video and the detail on the ships was astounding.
@webduelist It's not really a Tau'ri symbol, it's the symbol of The Point of Origin. You know, where the stargates use reference to? I think it's Earth..... not sure, but the symbol definitely doesn't represent SGC.
P.S: Yeah, I don't understand why there is a symbol on the side of the ship anyway, there isn't one in the real show. o.O
If the Ancient Battleship is launching drones, the Tau'ri vessels should have been toast in short order. I also don't think railguns would put a dent in Ancient shields. Pretty animation, though.
@MrGibbsOfficial The Ancient ships are what a thousand + years old. In the last few seasons of SG1, the Ori came along with brand new tech, to rival that of Ancients, if not superior. After the asguard Upgrades from the Legacy episode, the Daedalus would have superior shields, so technically two 304's could handle alot of drones. Compare drones to Ori beams, then look at the final SG1 movie. Daedalus takes at least 10-12 Ori beams on all sides with full shields. Drones vs Beams, I say Beams win.
@017720 drones don't go through shields, otherwise the 2 f-304's would have definitely died in the battle against the replicator's fleet, they got hit by ALOT that battle, you barely see any battle damage on them
@birdman8180 the Asuran's didn't even use the drones... they only used the drones on the traveler's aurora class, which fired back with drones... they only fired the energy weapons - somewhat big fat yellow lasers the entire time... at the BIG ships... they kinda ignored the little ones...
Nicely done surely not the most realistic video when you think about how it was in the series itself. Maybe thats the reason why people think it isn't that good.

Wow, this is really good. You did a great job on the Railgun placements on the Daedalus class ships. There were two problems with the Drones coming from the Aurora though; the Drones are too big, they're just little things. Also, they should be coming from only a few small areas, not all over the ship. However, this is one of the best fight scenes i've ever seen for Stargate that wasn't actually in the show.
This is awesome, the only criticism I would make, and it is pretty minor, is the lighting of the weapon effects. The weapon bullet/laser things look like they'd cast light on the ship when they are fired (not familiar with c4d but im sure you can add lights and keyframe their intensity in time with the bullets to fake this effect).
Very nice, things like this inspire me to get better at cgi!
I cant understand people saying this is bad, sure the weapons are a bit "ok need some work here" but i would kill to be able to do shield effects like that, your shields are immense ;) and the hyperspace openings....you are a credit to us Stargate Fans
this looks sweet! I love the camera shaking as added effect, models look cool and the graphical effects as well, only thing that looks a bit off is the hyperspace openings (not that those are bad tho, looks cool). also liked how you used the deadalus fly-by just as they have in the series :P
This is decent but the only thing wrong with this is the texture of the Ancient vessel. You got some of the coloration right but you need to add a kinda fog grey to the mix.
@Gplex Why do you think the producers of shows chose to have sound in their space battles? Because sound is key. Things are relatively boring without sound, and you can do so much with it. And anyway, if you're in the ancient ship you can hear the railguns firing because the sound waves can traverse space.

I've got a question. How can you tell particels to pass through the shields? Cause I wanna animate a shield with proximal shader and destructor obejcts. But the particles coming form the ship will also get "killed" (From the inside).
What I don't understand is that the ancients are supposed to be the most advanced race that has ever existed. Than why do the asgard have better weapons, shields, beaming technology? It just doesn't make much sense.
@arenanet12 No at the start of the atlantis serise it shows Atlantis "1billion years ago" Yet in the last episode of stargate sg1 Thor....i think it was thor mentions that the database they gave the daedalus had their eniter recorded history that had the sum of 100,00 years.....And in the Ark of truth it shows that the Alterans were over 100,00 years old :p

Pretty good with the graphics. Weapons and shields are all wrong. If you want to use rail guns fine but use the big guns too (Asgard ray). But I will subscribe expecting a longer and more action packed battle. Make the ships move and suffer. I don;t want to know who is going to win til the ending when one them blows up.

Just like some comments here said, the weapons need to be stronger, shields probably too and the railguns are fired in bursts (normally 6 bullets, 1 - 3 second nothing and then again 6 bullets)

hmans never realy employed railguns against ancient ships, usualy azgard lazers, and you got the firing wrong, the railguns fire on and off, but there are so many that they take turns (in 3's and 4's) and the ancient ships were firing to fast, and they never broadside, i dont know why but anciets never broadside, they alwys steer the ships head on before attacking with drones,they also fire in a big waves, the drones in this were to jerky, ungraceful
@OneGoldLion The front of Lantean warships are actually armor plated, so if the shields were lost, the ship would be able to survive a hell of a lot longer facing the fire.
during the start of the batttle over asuras(stargate atlantis season 4 episode 11) you can see them firing railguns, both at the beginning and at the end of the battle
and they do broadside as shown in the battle for asuras
the rail guns fire however they choose to fire them, they have been fired in short bursts and in long ones
Timofifi ancient ships(2000 meters) are smaller than Wraith hives( 12000 meters) . But you are still right that the x304's railguns couldn't defeat the ancient shields so easily.
The Ancients are one of the most advanced, if not the most advanced races in the Stargate universe. Their drones alone have the capability to pass through shields unaffected, and destroy ships in a matter of seconds. The railguns of a Daedalus-class battlecruiser, or 304, can't even destroy a Wraith hive-ship, which are about the same size as the Aurora-class warships, and they don't even possess shields.

@webduelist It's not really a Tau'ri symbol, it's the symbol of The Point of Origin. You know, where the stargates use reference to? I think it's Earth..... not sure, but the symbol definitely doesn't represent SGC.
P.S: Yeah, I don't understand why there is a symbol on the side of the ship anyway, there isn't one in the real show. o.O

If the Ancient Battleship is launching drones, the Tau'ri vessels should have been toast in short order. I also don't think railguns would put a dent in Ancient shields. Pretty animation, though.

@MrGibbsOfficial The Ancient ships are what a thousand + years old. In the last few seasons of SG1, the Ori came along with brand new tech, to rival that of Ancients, if not superior. After the asguard Upgrades from the Legacy episode, the Daedalus would have superior shields, so technically two 304's could handle alot of drones. Compare drones to Ori beams, then look at the final SG1 movie. Daedalus takes at least 10-12 Ori beams on all sides with full shields. Drones vs Beams, I say Beams win.

@017720 drones don't go through shields, otherwise the 2 f-304's would have definitely died in the battle against the replicator's fleet, they got hit by ALOT that battle, you barely see any battle damage on them

@birdman8180 the Asuran's didn't even use the drones... they only used the drones on the traveler's aurora class, which fired back with drones... they only fired the energy weapons - somewhat big fat yellow lasers the entire time... at the BIG ships... they kinda ignored the little ones...

Nicely done surely not the most realistic video when you think about how it was in the series itself. Maybe thats the reason why people think it isn't that good.
I mean Realguns didn't even penetrated Goa'uld shields and now they shall knock out Ancient shields?
It's like if a stone age man is trying to destroy a battle tank with small stones and sticks.
As for the graphics itself awesome work. :)

kick ass. but in my opinion the shields should only be seen where an object actually hits them, it looks like the shields are just there and not really responding to the incoming projectiles, as seen in the show

Wow, this is really good. You did a great job on the Railgun placements on the Daedalus class ships. There were two problems with the Drones coming from the Aurora though; the Drones are too big, they're just little things. Also, they should be coming from only a few small areas, not all over the ship. However, this is one of the best fight scenes i've ever seen for Stargate that wasn't actually in the show.

This is awesome, the only criticism I would make, and it is pretty minor, is the lighting of the weapon effects. The weapon bullet/laser things look like they'd cast light on the ship when they are fired (not familiar with c4d but im sure you can add lights and keyframe their intensity in time with the bullets to fake this effect).
Very nice, things like this inspire me to get better at cgi!

I cant understand people saying this is bad, sure the weapons are a bit "ok need some work here" but i would kill to be able to do shield effects like that, your shields are immense ;) and the hyperspace openings....you are a credit to us Stargate Fans

this looks sweet! I love the camera shaking as added effect, models look cool and the graphical effects as well, only thing that looks a bit off is the hyperspace openings (not that those are bad tho, looks cool). also liked how you used the deadalus fly-by just as they have in the series :P

This is decent but the only thing wrong with this is the texture of the Ancient vessel. You got some of the coloration right but you need to add a kinda fog grey to the mix.

@Gplex Why do you think the producers of shows chose to have sound in their space battles? Because sound is key. Things are relatively boring without sound, and you can do so much with it. And anyway, if you're in the ancient ship you can hear the railguns firing because the sound waves can traverse space.

I've got a question. How can you tell particels to pass through the shields? Cause I wanna animate a shield with proximal shader and destructor obejcts. But the particles coming form the ship will also get "killed" (From the inside).

What I don't understand is that the ancients are supposed to be the most advanced race that has ever existed. Than why do the asgard have better weapons, shields, beaming technology? It just doesn't make much sense.

@arenanet12 No at the start of the atlantis serise it shows Atlantis "1billion years ago" Yet in the last episode of stargate sg1 Thor....i think it was thor mentions that the database they gave the daedalus had their eniter recorded history that had the sum of 100,00 years.....And in the Ark of truth it shows that the Alterans were over 100,00 years old :p
My theory is the ancients helped the Asgard evolve tecnologically and mentally ^^

Pretty good with the graphics. Weapons and shields are all wrong. If you want to use rail guns fine but use the big guns too (Asgard ray). But I will subscribe expecting a longer and more action packed battle. Make the ships move and suffer. I don;t want to know who is going to win til the ending when one them blows up.

Just like some comments here said, the weapons need to be stronger, shields probably too and the railguns are fired in bursts (normally 6 bullets, 1 - 3 second nothing and then again 6 bullets)
All after all I really like it!

hmans never realy employed railguns against ancient ships, usualy azgard lazers, and you got the firing wrong, the railguns fire on and off, but there are so many that they take turns (in 3's and 4's) and the ancient ships were firing to fast, and they never broadside, i dont know why but anciets never broadside, they alwys steer the ships head on before attacking with drones,they also fire in a big waves, the drones in this were to jerky, ungraceful

@OneGoldLion The front of Lantean warships are actually armor plated, so if the shields were lost, the ship would be able to survive a hell of a lot longer facing the fire.

they do employ railguns against ancient ships
during the start of the batttle over asuras(stargate atlantis season 4 episode 11) you can see them firing railguns, both at the beginning and at the end of the battle
and they do broadside as shown in the battle for asuras
the rail guns fire however they choose to fire them, they have been fired in short bursts and in long ones
also asgard and lasers are both s' not z

Timofifi ancient ships(2000 meters) are smaller than Wraith hives( 12000 meters) . But you are still right that the x304's railguns couldn't defeat the ancient shields so easily.

The Ancients are one of the most advanced, if not the most advanced races in the Stargate universe. Their drones alone have the capability to pass through shields unaffected, and destroy ships in a matter of seconds. The railguns of a Daedalus-class battlecruiser, or 304, can't even destroy a Wraith hive-ship, which are about the same size as the Aurora-class warships, and they don't even possess shields.
