thank you for putting up this video. i plan on using this haristyle for the swing night at my camp this week. i hope everyone likes it as much as i do.
You've helped me soo much I love watching your videos and I love doing this hair styleits very pin up-e and I absolulty love that style and of course1940s style but I still can't do the lazy woman french twist yet I still need to practice! Haha thanks alot for your videos <33
This video absolutely changed my outlook on my hair.
I've always tried to do something similar with my hair but never figured out the best ways of doing so!
So one day I decided to check out videos on youtube to find more of a 40's look, and came upon your videos.
This one in particular I do almost everyday now, however it started to look less and less 40's and more casual. I want to do more of a poof in the front like the one in your "40's Pinup Hair Tutorial" video!
Thanks for the great videos once again!! I've been looking for the tutorial that you do the summer 40's pony tail with the rolled bangs! Need to watch it again, was having trouble securing the bangs. Whered it goo? Can't find it for some reason. :):)
You have one of my favorite eras down just perfectly! thank you so much for showing the quick and easy way to manage thick, wavy hair (which i also possess). i normally do the boorish ponytail or side-part when down--but this style adds the perfect twist--thanks again so much! (byw--you look lovely sporting the 40's ;))
Seriously, you are actually my saviour! I'm going to a 1940s party in 2 days and i have tried everything, my hair is so thick so its difficult to keep pins in but your tip of crossing them over works amazingly. My hair is alot shorter than yours but i still managed to twist it at the back and I secured it with a clip on bow. I'm so glad I found your video, its helped alot. And i think with a bit more practice i could wear it like this more often, i really love it. Thankyou for posting this :) x
I do my hair in a slightly changed style like this everyday, I do it one sided.
I'm really shocked! All the tips you gave , I do! Except I always comb my hair until its perfectly flat before curling it up at the front. I really love 40s hairstyle, its very original yet traditional at the same time.
Thank you! Your hair is really pretty and beautiful! I tried this and it worked really well. This hairstyle I'm going to use a lot, but sometimes I'll leave the back part down. My hair is long, thick, and frizzy, so it's not the easiest to manage. This video also helped a lot because I need a 1940s hairstyle in the play that I'm in called 'Guys and Dolls'. So thank you so much!
Is there a specific name for this hairstyle? I want a hairdresser to do it for me but I don't know how to describe it... Thanks for your help your hair rocks! :)
i've seen this look on many people but of all you definitely look the most authentic :) you are cute and look wholesome and someone a grandmother would love for her grandson in the 40s lol kudos!
I really love this hairdo! I usually do this! Cause its not to over done, like the other 40ies hairstyles (with the curles) Its nice though, but getting out of bed at 7 for just your hair wont do for me.. no, I cant be really bothered, but this! fabulous!
Everyone really needs to stop complaining and who cares if she talked. It's her video and she can do what she wants. Great Video. Loved it. Kudos to you : )
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am in a play set in the 1940s (Death of a Salesman) & I have been agononizing on how to do my hair! Your vids have solved everything!!! I will definitely be recommending you to the female cast members!
I did this today and it worked amazingly! So easy to do :) I played with the 40's style with this hair, lipstick and a polka-dotted dress :D
I have hair that goes a little longer down than my shoulders, so for the hair in the back I just twisted all of it and secured it on the back of my head with a hair slide and made sure it stayed in place with a bunch of hairspray and bobby pins - it survived two windy bicycle rides! :D
This is a great everyday look, and easy to glamour up, so thank you :)
If you have any ideas for other cool hairstyles that don't require curling the hair (my curling iron is crap, so I haven't got the patience to curl it unless I'm going for a night out), please please please share ;)
i do this style all the time now and i have really short pointed bangs and it looks really cute with then just down like normal, pincurl them off to the side or if you have bangs that are a bit longer try curling them and fluffing them out for a SUPER 40's look.
I love this tutorial. Iv been looking for a good one to try out on my hair. Its not as long, a little longer than shoulder length, so that might be tricky, just trying to get it all back. What would you recomend if you have bangs? I just have straight bangs, they go to about the top of my eye, should i just pull them back and pin them? If you could give any advice that would be great!
Thank u thank u thank u! I've been wanting to learn how to do this hair style ever since I seen it in the old cartoon "Swing Shift Cinderella" with Droopy in it.
Thank you, first of all for this video. It's so effortless but yet extremely darling and a beautiful hairstyle; it sits well with you! I'm certain you get many questions, but mine is only where is your blouse from? Vintage? It's super cute.
Hi! Thank you for your feedback--I'm so glad you enjoyed this! Anyway, the blouse I'm wearing in this video I made; it's an old tshirt that I attached a new collar to using instructions from Kayte Terry's "Complete Embellishing" (a really fantastic book). :)
Wow, that was just awesome! Your hairdo, your dress, your style... Yourself! Damn, you're SO beautiful, you look just like you were Veronica Lake's daughter! And, where did you find these gorgeous old-fashioned clothes you wear there and in your last video?
Hello!! Thank you for your lovely comment--I'm tickled that you liked this video! :) Anyway, the clothes I wear in my videos I've made or altered (refashioned) from other pieces. I love taking "new" stuff and remaking it into something "retro". :)
Great video! I do have a question though...:So, my hair is layered and I often have troubles with twisting and stuff because the shorter layers will come out.. do you have any suggestions?
Hello! I have the same problem with layers coming out while I twist my hair up too. I've found that a styling "wax" is really good for keeping everything in a more manageable bunch. I bought the product I use at a salon supply store. The biggest tip I can give for using it is: a little goes a long way! Apply just a little dab to the section of hair you're working with, work it through, give it a quick comb, and it should help tame the layers a bit! :) Good luck!!!
Hi! It's been awhile since I've worked with shorter bangs, but if they're on the longish side (side swept usually are ;), using a tiny bit of wax could definitely make this style workable with bangs! Let me know how it goes...
I will try this style where I work in Japan! They're getting used to my victory rolls...though it's shocking still to them to see it. I think I'll use this style to break them in easier to the look :D
thank you for putting up this video. i plan on using this haristyle for the swing night at my camp this week. i hope everyone likes it as much as i do.

Great video! I do have a question though...:So, my hair is layered and I often have troubles with twisting and stuff because the shorter layers will come out.. do you have any suggestions?
BrittBonshor 3 years ago
:) Good luck!!!
elegantlyamused 3 years ago
Thanks alot. I'll give that a go. Do you swing dance?
BrittBonshor 3 years ago
Would this work for bangs as well? I have side sweeping bangs so would this wax stuff work for that too?

Hi! It's been awhile since I've worked with shorter bangs, but if they're on the longish side (side swept usually are ;), using a tiny bit of wax could definitely make this style workable with bangs! Let me know how it goes...
