go 19d unless you know for certain ranger is what you want to do and know you could pass the school because it is the toughest school in the wrld. If you dont pass ranger then your just 11b. Then again both mos you will be doing night raids and patrols everyone pretty much does that though. 19d focusses on more recon though wether deployed or in the field.

Gator scouts have OSUT not BT and AIT. OSUT is One Station Unit Training. That isn't what i was saying about being there. I was stationed there after i went to ft riley ks i had to go back to knox and train officers on how to be a solider and blah blah blah! Being a scout was awesome loved being a scout!!! but being sent back to knox after OSUT is what sucked

not just that, the apft has minimum requirments to pass. scouts are expected to exceed the minimum, because of the physically demanding nature of the job. 16 min may be good enough for a tanker or a mechanic, but not good enough for a scout.

Well I can run a 15 minute 2 mile without a warmup easy, granted I haven't run a whole lot since the end of cross country season but I think I could get it back down, but a 13 minute 2 mile is ridiculous, its a mounted MOS

scouts, by and large, fall into 2 categories: light cavalry and armored cav. the difference is the vehicles they use while mounted. however, scouts do more dismounted ops (in my experience) than not. and in order to cover great distances carrying heavy equipment by foot, one has to be in excellent shape.

by the way, my old grey haired 1SG used to run 2mi in 13:00. we had a couple of guys who could run high 9's and low 10's per 2 miles.

i was in 1/63 scouts back in 2003 when we were TF Dragon attached to 173rd ABN in Iraq. i did three years in Vilseck, damn i miss them old days. that was a real scout platoon. hope you guys are living up to the standard. SCOUTS OUT!
