Hmm...two very talented young people...in '07 when this was done...high school, maybe early college? Here it is halfway thru 2011 and one cant help but hope and wonder if they pursued and further developed their talent. If they did, I'd sure pay admission to check it out...either of them. Janis did a great rendition, but Big Mama wrote it. Big Mama also wrote Hound Dog that Elvis made famous. There is a long and abundant history of white performers making black-written music famous because the public was historically biased against black performers. Thankfully that has changed or is changing.

Yes, it was written by Big Mama. But I think the song would be relatively unknown except for Janis having performed it. Lots of old timers are familiar with it, and now younger generations too. The version on her Greatest Hits is so gut wrenching, and I find if I've got the blues, just playing that song cleanses me miraculously!

obviously its different, he clearly feels the music differently than most people. her singing was fabulous and the guitar was bang on. he was a little bit quiet, but its acoustic for christs sake. put a hollow body electric in the boys hands and youll get that emotion you so seek.

a pretty voice. A bit of "US country"in her style going on. copied by pink who copied from janus who I think got a lot of her style from old jazz/ gospel/ blues style singing.

I wish her well, she has a really good voice, but I would suggest listening to really old school stuff instead of Pink, Thus she could create her own style instead of a copied / copied / copied style.

read the info, it states (arrangement by Pink) great effort, but nobody feels it when they sing it like Janis did, she wasn't just exhibiting her vocal abilities, she lived it so she meant it, something to say for integrity, sure Joplin didn't always hit the note but...anyway 5 stars
