  • Nice job! : )

  • how did you get permission to umg? please answer back :D

  • @thisisjrtm I didn't really, but after I did this one, UMG found out and then they added the ad for the original Hank Sr. song. Soooooo, I figured, technically, since they were letting the video stay and didn't omit the audio, it was thier way of saying it's okay to use it.

  • I love hanks music. Good cover mate

  • 5 star and shared i like how you sang with hank i dont understand how this was done i enjoyed it

  • @HANKWILLIAMS1924 Thanks very much! I did a split-screen effect and combined the audio portion too. Glad ya liked it!

  • we like it a lot ,great sound, can you make some more?

    greetz from th netherlands

  • @snorzle Thanks very much! I have some other split screen videos in my playlists on my channel. Glad ya liked it!

  • That is one good performance! You've got the right "Tempo." So many people have ruined that song by playing it too fast. Thank you!

  • @BrotherJulien Thanks very much! Glad ya liked it! When I recorded the audio, I had Hank singing along in my earphone so it would match up.

  • That was wonderful. I am totally impressed. I am a Hank Williams Sr. fan from way back. He was unique. No one can write and sing the way he could.

  • Thanks very much! I appreciate that a lot and couldn't agree with you more about the one-of-a-kind rare talent of Hank Williams Sr.

  • Good Job! Awesome Good Job! *****

  • Thanks so much! I appreciate that! I've cleaned up the basement since then.

  • Now we know where that ghost has been for the last 60 years.

Don't clean it out too good.

    Hank looked happy.

  • LOL!! I think he likes all the old guitars down there that I bought at garage sales and thrift stores.

  • This and of course, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" probably tie for my favorite Hank Sr. song. I have to say, I got chills when the screen first split. Very nice :)

  • Thanks so much! Glad ya liked it! Hank was the best when it came to good honest aunthentic music!

  • Brilliant!

I loved the video that began with HW Junior singing in the bar and then his dad started singing in the next room.... why can't I get it on here anymore?

  • Thanks! I'm not sure what happened to it? You're referring to "There's a tear in my beer" video. I guess the copyright police got them. So sad. If you wait, eventually someone else will post it again.

  • nice! into my faves it goes. thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you for faving it! I appreciate it!

  • this is way better than any hank jr cover of his dad. your version sounds like David Allan Coe's version, its awesome.

    I appreciate that.

  • Very nice. I was thinking of doing something in a similar vein with one of merles tunes. Not quite the same way however, I like how ya done it.

  • Thanks Sherrilynn! I appreciate that and I'm glad ya liked it!

  • I've got a CD of Hank in my player right now that I was listening to yesterday!

Besides that...Nice stuff, John. The color and black and white really works. And thanks for the tribute to Hank!

  • Thanks Fkidder! Everybody should have at least one Hank Cd in thier collection. I listen to his stuff a lot and am always in awe at all the songs he wrote in such a short span, and also how he sang and performed was all Hank.

  • Fantastic video!!! You sing real good. I like your production very much. Man this song brings back so many memories. Thanks for sharing!!!-Dale Rhodes

  • Thanks so much, Dale! I appreciate that a lot! And thanks for letting me add it your Hank Jr. video. I always loved that video, and really enjoyed doing something similar.

  • And John, Have you ever seen the movie' Hank Williams, the Show he Never Gave" with Sneezy Waters as Hank? It is quite an amazing movie.

  • Thanks so much for your positive feedback, John! I got the idea from the old video Hank Jr. made "A tear in my beer." You may remember how he put Hank Sr. in his video.

I'll have to look for the movie you suggest.

  • Wow John!!! I am a huge Hank Sr fan, and I thought this was a wonderful tribute to him.

Only an honest musician who cares for and loves music could pull this off, and you most certainly are and did.

    Favourite for sure John!!!

  • Wonderful John..very heartfelt!!

    All my best,

    BillyRay

  • Thanks so much, BillyRay! I know you sing some of Hank's songs, so I hoped you would like this one.

  • Yea John, The same night, years later Townes Van Zandt. Two of America's best countrysingers ever.Great video

  • hey john happy new year and thanx for the inspiration did some train trackin thanx to you my brother thank you

  • You're welocome, Mammagrahm! I love filming out on the tracks. I see ya have the same graffitti artist in your locale. The guy must get around. Check out my shout out vid when ya can.

  • John, my friend, you are just a master of making a video that speaks volumes. What a great tribute to a shooting star who lived hard and died young but left us a treasure trove of music.

    Superior job for sure.

  • Thanks so much, BC, that is really nice of you to say. Hank's music will always be some of the best songwriting ever done.

It is a shame he died so young, but what a legacy left behind.

  • Great stuff. You are an excellent maker of videos without a doubt.

  • Thanks Classican, I appreciate that a lot, and glad that you enjoyed it.

  • great job John, I remember thinking about the 50 year in 2003, can't believe that's five years ago already.

  • Thanks Danny, I still can't believe it's almost 2008! Weren't we supposed to be flying around in rocket cars by now?

  • well, flying around in rocket cars might be cool but I'm content to be able to watch videos on youtube and who woulda thunk it years ago ?

  • I have a rocket Car

  • Thanks Rob, so glad ya liked it! And I won't argue with you about having a rocket car, but it's not the kind that flies around in the air like they told us we would all have by now when we were in grade school.

(Or I could have my education mixed up with my Jetsons cartoon days, which was last week.)

  • Well actually its a little Chevy S-10 pick up truck.lol. It's a suicide machine to drive in the snow..and If I'm not careful it will fly through the air after skidding through the Guard Rails : )

  • No, that's the beauty of the guard rail...it keeps maniacs like us on the road. I like driving right against them and listen to the clickity clack sound, and pretend I'm a train. Warning: not good for the clearcoat.

I almost bought one of those trucks! Then I was afraid people would want me to haul stuff for 'em.

  • You would be right John...lol....Lots of folks want me to haul stuff for them...no way man..I will lend my truck as long as they leave their car for me to drive : )

    Rocket

  • folld????ah i meant flood.lol...only 29 years old when Hank passed on..he is without a doubt one of my all time favorites...

just think of all the other great tunes we would have

had he not died 55 years ago,way too soon

  • Thanks Dan, I figured out the 'flood' since our basement is no stranger to water. That's the only good thing about the winter is there's no rain. I think I read somewhere that Hank wrote over 700 songs. That's a lot for his short life.

  • JOHN!!!!your basement looks jsut like mine

without all the folld waters...this is fantastic!Hank and JOHN together at last!i love it!fav.and going straight into my CD player!if thats cool

  • Many shall remember the man and his music tonight!

    Good Job!

  • Thanks Wizkil, he is worth remembering, for sure.

  • Wow!

    Totally awesome, my friend!

    Nice work. Happy New Year!

  • Thanks so much, Lost! I appreciate that and I wish you and yours a Happy New Year also!
