  • Great review! It's always hard for a book to live up to its expectations when you greatly admire the author - at least that was my impression. I made a review of Paper Towns while putting peanut butter on my face :). It's the only John Green book I've read so far, is there one in particular you'd recommend as my next one?

  • What is the name of that comic book collection u have. And do u have any recommendations in that catagory. Thank u

  • You should do a book shelf tour. -3

  • what is the book about?

  • I completely agree! I don't understand why this is a lot of peoples' favorite JG book. Although I do LOVE Abundance of Katerines, which isn't widely liked. xD

    Great reivew! :D

  • @SymphoniaFan101 I loved An Abundance of Katherines also! A lot of fun, and great characters :)

  • o gosh i love bloody ben haha also his im screen name

    this book is awesomee

  • Your videos are SO awesome! :) lovvvee them.

  • @ChapterChicks Thanks so much! :D

  • Great Review

  • @bookittyblog Thank you! :D

  • oh expectations... at least you did enjoy it :)

I'll definitely be checking out JG

  • @MeaghanTheBookAddict I know! >__< Yes, me too! :D

Do it! I think you will like :)

  • I agree with you in all you say :D Great review. My favourite part in the book has to be the roadtrip. The thing, you know.. the dangerous thing. OMG!

But I was annoyed by a lot of things in the book. I cringed every time I read "hunny bunnies". haha. But it was a good book. The overall message was nice.

  • @MaxieMagyx Thanks Kaisa! OMG THE THING!! That was definitely one of the parts where I held my breath. GAH.

lol Ah, Ben's hunny bunnies XD I don't know what I would do if I had a friend like that. Ignore him, or smile every time XD

    Agreed!

  • I love the middle of Paper Towns because it shows Q's level of obsession with Margo. It's like the slow pace shows how life goes on as normal, except for Q's.

And I love the two hardback covers because the one with the smiley happy Margo is fake, and so is the one with the sullen, unhappy Margo. Because as John said, she's not a crazy adventure or depressed, she's just a girl.

I agree with you that Q could be annoying. But, idk, I still love him. He reminds me of myself.

  • @jaytummy Now that you say that, normal life does go at slower pace. Good point! :)

The Margo hardback covers are awesome. That was a really great moment for Q!

Q had some great characteristics. His determination to find Margo was great. But I think the frequency in how it was reminded to me, I think happened one too many times :-/

  • Great review! Those high expectations are dangerous! I have them too! :)

I can't wait to start reading John Green's books. Which one would you recommend starting with (especially now that you've read three in a row! *g*)?

  • @tinpanalley101 Thanks Jess! Definitely D:

I know! Hmm.. I think Looking for Alaska is an excellent one to start with! :D

  • Paper Towns is my favorite John Green book because through Margo he resolved a lot of the issues I had with Alaska.I thought she was much more complex, and I really appreciated that. Also I loved the use of "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman.I will agree with you that John's characters are all kind of similar.Nerdy guy falls in love with the popular girl who happens to be super smart. That is one of the reasons why I haven't read "An Abundance of Katherines" or Will Grayson, Will Grayson.

  • @minishiva Yes! John's characters had a sameness/familiarity about them. So when I read Paper Towns, I'm not to sure why I was expecting something different. Hmm.. But regardless, for the most part it was still an enjoyable read! :)

  • I should read other novels by John Green , probably because i've read Paper Towns first I enjoyed it more. I guess it all depends which one you read first ;P I've heard that Paper Towns was the least "likeable" of his novels. Probably once i've read the rest of his novels, i'll get a better perspective on what I feel about Paper Towns (: I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

  • @nickyinwonderland I have a feeling too that my feelings for the book may be because when I read it...maybe XD I'll talk about that in my in conclusion vid :)

I actually thought Paper Towns was his more popular ones XD Darn expectations! lol But if you liked Paper Towns, I think you'll really enjoy his other books :)

    Me too! Thanks ^__^

  • I actually never did realise how Paper Towns tends to be most people's least favourite John Green book - this was my personal favourite! I havent read Will Grayson Will Grayson yet though, and my reading Looking for Alaska was kinda ruined since I accidentally read one of the Questions in the book club questions at the end of the book which spoiled the story for me. But personally, this is the book i found most funny and gripping of the three i've read so far!

  • @rvb23 >__< I hate coming across spoilers accidentally!

The humor in this book really was great! I think along with Ben, Margo had really great dialogue. There were definitely great, gripping, and intense moments .___.

  • Paper Towns is my least favourite JG book! Great review! :)

  • @WeasleyIsMyKing09 Thanks Becks! :D

  • this book looks nice to read, I'll buy it just by curiosity ;)

  • @OurBump Definitely let me know what you think if you ever get the chance :)

  • "Paper Towns" was the first John Green book I read and I liked it (I liked the road trip part, I thought the ending dragged on too much and the dialogue at the end did not reflect the way teenagers talk too each other, in my opinion it sounded very unnatural - who talks like that? I read "Looking For Alaska" next and it blew me away, it was so much better. :-)

  • @wirepuppy I loved the roadtrip part! :)

Looking for Alaska is a great read, I think it flowed and paced better ^^

  • I believe John is writing a novel with a female protagonist, if your looking for refreshing characters.

  • @MrHowWasYourDay I heard! I definitely want to check out how he does with a female character :)

  • Great review Priscilla after your book love over looking for Alaska. I went and borrowed it from the library. I like the vlogbrothers and planned to read his books anyaway. Now it's just sooner.

  • @Sonythebooklover Awesome! Looking for Alaska is awesome :D Definitely let me know what you think.

  • it's always because of you that i get the urge to buy books. haha. you make the books sound fun.

  • @BOORPLE XD Books are fun! lol Read anything awesome lately?

  • @thereadables i'm currently reading The White Queen! i got so curious after i saw one of your hauls. i also bought sisters red. i'm a sucker for your reviews. :))

  • I love deep metaphors in books that tie characters together. I'll probably end up reading this just because John Green is awesome and it's been hyped up, haha. Thanks for the review! As always, it was helpful :)

    -Farrah

  • @iEatWordsChannel Definitely check this out Farrah!

    Thanks, I'm glad! :D

  • @drunkonwords Thanks so much! Definitely give it a shot :) I really liked the overall message in this book!

  • I recently read Paper Towns (within the last month) and my review is quite similar to yours. I liked the beginning, and the end was also pretty good, but there was a point in the middle where the pace became really slow. I loved the metaphors, and the characters were strong, but I still feel that John Green has a sort of niche with the characters he creates. What do you think?

  • @doubleAAbattery7 I totally agree! Reading his books one after the other, I'm realizing his characters fall into certain archetypes.. but I do enjoy reading them! :)

  • I tried reading a couple of John Green books but never got into them for some reason!

  • @adair1234 No worries! There are authors/books we just don't click with :)

  • I read Paper Towns in 09. I loved it. The mystery and humor was spot on. I might make my own review for it. :)

  • @IAsRandom The dialogue and the relationship between the friends is so funny! And I agree, I just wanted to reveal more of the mystery that is Margo :)

    Definitely!

  • Love the review and I agree about the middle of the book I did find it slow too but the ending made up for it in my opinion. Great video as always :)

  • @LaraProductionsxx Agreed, I really enjoyed the ending! Ben was awesome lol XD

    Thank you!

  • yea i truth it was going to be better then it was but the fist part was great!!!!!!!!!!!! good john green book thou.

  • @heymisterg Margo and Q definitely made great partner's in crime XD Loved it!

  • Great review, Priscilla! I agree about Q being obsessive. Still, I loved this book, nonetheless. :)

  • @TheMetalheadBookworm Thanks Melissa!

XD Yeah, Q's search for Margo was really intense at times .___. But still great read overall!

  • Great Review!! i realllllyy wanna read this book!!

  • @GlamourBeauty11 Thank you!

It definitely has a good mix of fun and great moments of intense mystery X)
