  • now i understand why everyone wants one of these not just the 844 but all of em in general i just finally got the 844 last saturday at trainfest in milwaukee and i gotta say the detail is amazing.

  • i have an ho athern big boy with rear smoke unit installed that never made smoke!

  • ur trains and trainlayouts rock!!!!!

  • Wow, that's incredible. My Grandfather has started passing down his collection to me and he gave me 3 engines, one of them being the 844 in your video. I seen you have the flex track, I was wanting to switch to that eventually. I just have prefab Bachman track, but I think it'd be easier to run the curves when I add landscaping to my layout.

  • What is the width and length of your layout there? 4x8?

  • @thesportsfanhouse 17 ft long 6 ft wide composed of two tables

  • nice video of #844 one thing you should know never set the whistle to screech because it will sound like an American 440 not a northern

  • Does anyone know where you can get the Athearn 844 anymore? I am desperatly looking for one. No one seems to have one.

  • Where do you get smoke unit

  • You mention Speed Steps, Do you by any chance use an MRC DCC system such as the prodogy express?

  • They need to make a n scale fef-3 and stop with the madness fo realz

  • Athearn is a BIG retailer of all types of FEFs 844 included

  • Is it possible to purchase the puffing smoke unit somewhere, and to put in like Seuthe. Maybe a electronic device with some more handling. What I also like to know is how it rides, how many cars it can pull, so, how it is use when "playing" with it. That is right that is big, big disadvantage with Seuthe. Was it out of the box oer did you do some break-in driving?

  • Don't sound too bad.......

  • 1,000 viewer....Awesome another great review

  • goodtrain!&realsound!

  • They need to make one of these in N scale. It makes soo much sense.

  • Great site and videos, sorry cannot sub Youtube have blocked me Cheeers

  • also subscribe to mikesdn also

  • Nice video. I like the 4-8-4 steam Egin.

  • Sweet Trains! We love running trains.

  • Nice setup. I love the old locomotives too!

  • FEF-3 to e exact and MTH Will win i saw a picture athearn lacks alot of details

  • Nice loco!! Nice scenery, too!

  • Sweet engine!

  • Nice review!!! The 844 is awesome!!!

  • one thing you got to watch for with Suethe smoke units is the wire that portrudes from the bottom of the unit. It should be straight up-and-down; not bent, so that it touches the metal contact at the bottom of the chimney hole. I had this problem with both Suethe units on my 3985. Also, you can get smoke fluid from Viessmann that doesn't leave a residue like the Suethe fluid. Have a look for the Viessmann fluid at eurorailhobbies up in Vancouver BC.

  • Very Nice Review! Rumor is Athearn plans on releasing N scale versions of the Northern FEF-3 class soon.

  • At 8:51, that loud woosh sounds like the brake release sound on the default LNER Flying Scotsman for Microsoft Train Simulator. :/ Was that a default sound for the Athearn Union Pacific #844? Or did you add that yourself?

  • @KingofTomedy its the default sound to athearn a buddy of mine has a FEF-2 #826 and it has the exact same brake release

  • Nice review! Good to see you post another video!

  • athearn bnsf aces are inbound now the up aces are delayed until next month just to give heads up

  • Very nice. The 844 has to be the classiest steam locomotive in service today.

  • yet im paying 250 without sound but sound decoder sound 100% to the 844 and start up voltage i deffinatly need to change that

  • I plan on putting a Tsunami decoder in mine when the funds come together. I have a lot of other locomotives that I need to put decoders in so its not a priority for me right now.

  • VERY COOL LOCO MAN

  • MRC? The Chuff Sounds A LOT like QSI, or BLI's Paragon 2.

  • @jlwii2000 im new to these models can you help

  • very..very cool loco!
