See, kids back then weren't as sheltered as kids today. They could take scary scenes. I don't know about you guys, but when I was a kid, I loved the hell out of Pink Elephants on Parade. Now that kids are being raised on Dora the Explorer and Diego, where the most conflict they ever get is "will Dora make it to her birthday on time?" This kind of thing comes as a shock. I say, bring back scary scenes in kids movies! Maybe then kids will stop flocking to see Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Evolution in action! Lol jk. But yeah I don't what's so wrong with this -- lazy idiots turn into jackasses... literally and figuratively! I just think the guy that uploads these is paranoid-delusional. You wanna see what really fucked up? Go read the original versions of these fairy tales; 10 times as fucked up! Cinderella's step-sisters mutilate themselves to get the shoe to fit then gets their eyes plucked out by doves. oO
The old Disney movies and the modern Disney movies reflects the time when they were shown in movies. But the Grimm's tales were aimed for adults, back then there weren't "fairy tales for children". Adults used to gather infront of a fireplace and tell terrible stories for the purpose of etertaiment. And those stories are the base of Grimm's stories.
The entire pleasure island part of this movie seems to always remind of the quote, "If something seems too good to be true, it probably is."-quote by someone I don't know.
you run away and get to have fun. However it ends up worse for you and you'll wish you could just go back, but you won't always get the choice.
It's not saying don't have fun kids. It's saying behave before your parents throw you out. the kids there were pretty naughty breaking everything and whatnot.
hum... i love how you all have your ideas of why this is bad or good but i dont see anyone mention that it basicly says if you drink and smoke as a kid you become a jackass... and thats what should be taken from it... kids shouldnt drink and smoke... its bad enuff adults do it... but with kids its realy bad. i belive it should be a choice but one that should be made after they finish puberty...
I found the entire movie unsuitable for kids. Are they trying to say that the penalty for being a kid and having a good time is that you get turned into a donkey and sold into slavery?
If Pinochio (according to the fairy) doesn't know right from wrong, how can he be guilty of wrongdoing? Under most penal codes, a person who can't distinguish right from wrong can't be found guilty of a crime.
He can, however, be shipped off to the looney bin.
@MondoBeno keep in mind, us 90's and even the 80's kids, were capable of seeing this and going "cool" BUT it did teach us right from wrong XD anywhoo, the oversensitive parents brought forth garbage like spongebob and adventure time, and (good god...) Regular show, these shows also have MORE crude humor and spongebob actually led kids to stealing, or rather "borrowing without asking" so yeah
When I first heard that the government is trying to enforce the censorship much harder. I thought it was a good idea, it helps be more creative when you can't show nudity or swear at all. But, then I saw this, it reminded me at how blunt you gotta be to get a point across sometimes. They would take that away if the government was allowed to step in instead of the FCC. (I know the "f" in FCC is pretty much the same word as government, but they are not the same thing.)
Disney's message was obvious - during childhood we encounter many experiences that look good at first, but that quickly lead to serious trouble. Walt's own bad habit from childhood was a heavy nicotine addiction. He chain smoked cigarettes for decades & that likely killed him, so the cigar & beer in this do a Shout Out. Walt wanted us to know that we are 'Prey Animals' subject to a larger, evil Commerce / Cabal that has controlled much of the physical world & economics since our beginning.
What's the problem? The kids act up and made jack-asses of themselves. I was a kid when this came out. We saw it, I got the point. Whole damn world going all PC. Lord help us all. Humans are not and will never be perfect. Today's society's push to make the world all perfect can only make it a world unfit for human beings! The opinion depicted here is part and parcel how we have handed the whole thing over to the pencil-necks to run.
This reminds me of the other fairy tale for children. It goes - There is a magical man in the sky and if you believe in the invisible magical man you will go to paradise forever but if you don't believe in the invisible magical man you will be tortured forever. No now i think about it this story is more realistic.
i was born in 1997,and when i was a child, they had cartoons with fear in them on tv...as soon as i stopped watching cartoons...they stopped broadcasing cartoons with fear in them -.-
@Nikola1335 i was born in 98 and what u said is true as soon as i stopped watching cartoons no more cartoons with fear in them.Us kids that were born in the 90's are the last tough generation that can deal with todays world. If these kids parents dont start making them tough they will never survive in todays world. These parents need to open their eyes this is a great way to teach children how to deal w/bullies and stand up for them selves. when were little we didnt cry to the teacher about a
@Nikola1335 bully(im continuing this from my last one becase i didnt have enogh room). But any way we stood up against bullies. This young generation goes to the teacher for every thing.
Overprotected kid: Cries for mommy when getting bullied, self esteem decreases, can't deal with problems by himself.
Normal kid: Finds a way to fight back and hopefully team up to kick the shit out of him, earn respect, learn how life really works and moves on into his own life.
I wouldnt say that was dark. Straight up message. "act like a jackass u become a jackass" Instead of todays kids hearing 'being a jackass is just another point of view, lifestyle choice, society's fault or genetic blah blah." Now sum of the subliminal sex stuff in Disney movies is not cool but this stuff is good.
Have you ever read Grimm? Disney waters down the "real" so-called fairy tales constantly. . . I don't get the issue here. But, hey I'm a child of the 90's. I'm pretty sure I was born jaded. lol
This is a bit eerie in an odd way but I've seen many other such things in cartoons, movies, and other things over the years, and yes they bothered me (especially when I was a kid). But this is tame compared to some stuff these days! LOL This is also tame compared to the ending scene of "The Black Hole". That is probably the darkest thing Disney has yet done.
Well, it's true. If you don't listen to your folks and parents, if you want to smoke and drink beer at young age you are going to become a jackass, sooner or later.
This was based off a children's book. Back when this book was written, children were treated as miniature adults so tales were darker. Sure, this scene was creepy, but the thrill made it more fun. I did not have any nightmares and I turned out just fine.
I remember I cried during this scene. I felt so bad for them. But I look back at this, and Disney back then was kind of f***ed up. I still hate Pinocchio, and whenever someone wants to watch it, I freak out. Also during the Hunchback of Notredame and a few others. There's a lot of scary cartoons.
Disney movies weren't originally made JUST FOR KIDS like everyone thinks, they were made for the entire family. Its only recent that they are aimed at children. Besides who doesn't like a good disney movie/cartoon? You have to have no soul
eh, most of the Grim's fairytales were precautionary tales MEANT to be told to children to scare children into behaving, in this case; act like a jackass, become one. every culture has there own version of these, but if you want the REAL dark and fucked up, look for traditional folk tails of the alpine and Slavic regions...
Yes this is for children. I watched the movie when I was a kid, and did it scare me? Sure. But it also entertained me, and I learned from it. Did it ruin my life because this scene is "not for children"....? Nope. Not at all.
You should be scared as a kid, it makes you harder and it's also a lot more entertaining. Protecting your children from simple stuff makes them soft and they can't take anything.
@ihnaatz Hey! My mother raised me a Russian Orthodox, & I am against WAR! I am a libertarian, & I support the legalisation of marijuana, cocaine, & heroin. I also support euthanasia [assisted suicide.] & YES! I am a HOMOSEXUAL THAT SUPPORTS THE LEGALISATION OF SAME-SEX MARRIAGE! WE ARE A GENERATION OF TRUE CHANGE, REMEMBER MY WORDS!
I remember this scene scaring the shit out of me as a child (I even hid under the seat on the ride in disneyland xD) I'm 17 years old now and I still remember it perfectly well -.-
like many Hollywood stars are starting to see the wickedness in Hollywood, the darkness is everywhere even in kid cartoons. if you base your faith in creation then you see negativity and darkness in this clip. the message is subliminal, you just have to know what you are looking for to see it. Freemason Disney
@DoodyMan Are you serious? Have you seen shit from the 90s? Someone from the 80s would say the same crap about us (I'm from the 90s as well.) Pinocchio was released in the 40s meaning some parents, perhaps even grandparents, seen this way before us.
I must admit, this part of the movie was probably the most disturbing and horrifying part of this whole disturbing movie. I still have second thoughts about watching it, and I'm 19! *and then they get stuck in a whale!*
"I wanna be a real boy" oh wait.. "I wanna be a real donkey!" oops. If this bugs you, you should watch Disney's original stuff... Micky mouse jacking off a church steeple so that all the little boy puppies could be sold for sausage, sob into a priest's genitals and all that. Hence why Disney corporation is almost predominately run and managed and employer of homosexuals. They like to indoctrinate the children as young as possible!
"Hence why Disney corporation is almost predominately run and managed and employer of homosexuals. They like to indoctrinate the children as young as possible!"
yeah. because all homosexuals like little kids and fondling them O_o if you're to stupid to draw a logical conclusion youself instead of parroting idiotic stoneage statements, you better shut up. the only card up your sleeve is that in the internet you can at least post such moronic arguments faceless
@Medhiv83 Actually, in one college study young men were asked if they had had sexual contact with a minor. Of straight men 20% said yes. Of homosexuals, 73% said yes. The biggest organizations aimed at sex w/children are ALL homosexual based. Homosexuality has been show through ape studies to be a behavior pattern that can be conditioned in males through early childhood trauma. So my argument is very sound. If it were natural, media would not seek to inflict it in every kid show & cartoon
one case-study/statistic is hardly representative! i would really love to see more polls like this particular one that can gap pedophile behavior & homosexuality! plz provide some links for your claims ... as for your last statement, i'm not sure how to take that? are you saying that homosexuality is not normal?
@Medhiv83 it was only when eisner took over that these deviances began to occur, Walt would not tolerate that the shite that happens today. he was a good man of morality & normality.
@maxlas11 Disney always makes the evil characters black or darker in hair and skin color than the "good" characters. You are expected to be able to identify any evil character in their movies this way. Even in Lion King, this is apparent. The feminine characters that are good are also drawn this way, the darker the more evil. They are not the least bit subtle about it.
Do any of the idiots who are watching this video know this was made/ came out in 1941? In those days these movies were made for all people to enjoy and get a message from it. It wasn't necessarily for children. Retards.
@Biznatch255 Wrong. It came out in 1940 and it was necessarily ment for children back then but for this one try to understand what you would think after you see this scene.
smoking drinking and misbehaving turns you into a donkey for the government and then they sell you out to corporations....basically what its saying here :)
I never knew that disney could be so f'n stupid. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE JERK WHO LIKES BRAINWASHING KIDS WITH SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES. JESUS WILL COME AGAIN AND IF YOU WANT TO GO TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL AND SUFER,THAT'S YOUR CHOICE.
Does "Is this for children" mean what I think it means? Well, when I was a little tyke and first saw this, I would never have understood the possibility that ripping off the donkey's clothes might be suggestive of ripping off a boy's clothes, or that "to the salt mines" might really mean sold into sex slavery! Children nowadays might catch such hints, though, because, unfortunately, today they're very un-sheltered!
@MrMarkerickson Disney was playing with the "sold into sexual slavery " concept in his earliest movies too. you need to watch the Lenon Honor videos on Disney to actually see the original pedophillic Disney black and whites. they will really horrify you.

eh, most of the Grim's fairytales were precautionary tales MEANT to be told to children to scare children into behaving, in this case; act like a jackass, become one. every culture has there own version of these, but if you want the REAL dark and fucked up, look for traditional folk tails of the alpine and Slavic regions...
nigen 2 months ago 2
@nigen ya there pretty fucked up. Have you seen the Norwegian version of Santa?

its better to scare children and make them stay away from drinking and smoking than not to scare them and let them drink and smoke.
im against disney, especially todays disney, but the old cartoons many times sent the right message

i did not remember that
Almadiabolika 2 months ago
Yes this is for children. I watched the movie when I was a kid, and did it scare me? Sure. But it also entertained me, and I learned from it. Did it ruin my life because this scene is "not for children"....? Nope. Not at all.
You should be scared as a kid, it makes you harder and it's also a lot more entertaining. Protecting your children from simple stuff makes them soft and they can't take anything.

like many Hollywood stars are starting to see the wickedness in Hollywood, the darkness is everywhere even in kid cartoons. if you base your faith in creation then you see negativity and darkness in this clip. the message is subliminal, you just have to know what you are looking for to see it. Freemason Disney
TheFightaz 2 months ago
It was dark scenes like this which made some of us 90's kids a lot darker and more capable of dealing with heavy shit.
It was over sensitive and complaining parents who took it away from us.
It's nothing but a memory with all these new ADD riddled cartoons today...

@DoodyMan Are you serious? Have you seen shit from the 90s? Someone from the 80s would say the same crap about us (I'm from the 90s as well.) Pinocchio was released in the 40s meaning some parents, perhaps even grandparents, seen this way before us.

Medhiv83 2 months ago
@Medhiv83 Actually, in one college study young men were asked if they had had sexual contact with a minor. Of straight men 20% said yes. Of homosexuals, 73% said yes. The biggest organizations aimed at sex w/children are ALL homosexual based. Homosexuality has been show through ape studies to be a behavior pattern that can be conditioned in males through early childhood trauma. So my argument is very sound. If it were natural, media would not seek to inflict it in every kid show & cartoon
StoicObserverS 2 months ago
@StoicObserverS
one case-study/statistic is hardly representative! i would really love to see more polls like this particular one that can gap pedophile behavior & homosexuality! plz provide some links for your claims ... as for your last statement, i'm not sure how to take that? are you saying that homosexuality is not normal?
Medhiv83 2 months ago
@Medhiv83 it was only when eisner took over that these deviances began to occur, Walt would not tolerate that the shite that happens today. he was a good man of morality & normality.

those black creatures helping the fat man are really creepy.
maxlas11 3 months ago
@maxlas11 Disney always makes the evil characters black or darker in hair and skin color than the "good" characters. You are expected to be able to identify any evil character in their movies this way. Even in Lion King, this is apparent. The feminine characters that are good are also drawn this way, the darker the more evil. They are not the least bit subtle about it.

Do any of the idiots who are watching this video know this was made/ came out in 1941? In those days these movies were made for all people to enjoy and get a message from it. It wasn't necessarily for children. Retards.
Biznatch255 3 months ago
@Biznatch255 Wrong. It came out in 1940 and it was necessarily ment for children back then but for this one try to understand what you would think after you see this scene.

MrMarkerickson 3 months ago
@MrMarkerickson Brother you have that right.. Times are a changing. ;\ ~Pct3ch~
Pct3ch 3 months ago
@MrMarkerickson Disney was playing with the "sold into sexual slavery " concept in his earliest movies too. you need to watch the Lenon Honor videos on Disney to actually see the original pedophillic Disney black and whites. they will really horrify you.
