Mainstream is the mass general public, not everyone likes rock. Justin Beiber appeals to the young girls, it's a mass market and a corny pone at that but there's always been a teen girls market and it's been taken advantage of for years. Sadly, mainstream marketing doesn't neccessarily mean quality music but it earns big money
