These people will therefore reanimate, and become a Shikabane - a living corpse. Shikabane may appear human, but they are twisted aberrations of themselves, fueled only by the obsessions that prevented them from accepting death. Shikabane place absolutely no value on human life,

However, some Shikabane can be created intentionally, by the living. These Shikabane, though still harboring obsessions and regrets that prevent then from accepting death, are not warped by their obsessions. Able to live a seemingly normal existence, they are tasked with hunting down and killing rogue Shikabane. They are known as Shikabane Hime - Corpse Princesses.

Reanimated by her intense desire for revenge, she was quickly found by the Kogon Sect, a Buddhist sect in charge of hunting and killing Shikabane. Seeing promise in Makina, they turned her into a Shikabane Hime. The anime follows her exploits in hunting and killing Shikabane.

I think the difference between aka and kuro is that (now I may be wrong about this) when the sword gets unsheathed that the noise doesn't appear in aka. That's just what I think the difference is.

This really seems to start out the same way as (correct me if I mistaken it for another) Durarara!!! I think, but a bit different (the first 3 secs or so), but I've seen a lot of fence shadows in the beginning of animes.

I am not into Anime. However, I did decide to watch this recently because I heard good things about it and I was bored.

I loved the show! Wish they would continue to do more seasons. Even if it is just a movie or one more season that has a ending I will be happy.

I really liked this anime, although the last episode was more of an OVA episode really and the way it ended with Machina pummeling that one white haird girl (forgot her name) wasn't really much of an ending, more of a cliff-hanger. But all in all it was a good anime.

Hugely impressed with this series, i never really watched Anime before but by the second ep, .Total addiction. I heard there is a 26th episode on a stand alone DVD, but can't find it on Amazon. Hopefully, it's included with the DVD box set.

It literally ends IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FINAL BATTLE.

No indication of a third season.

And this special 13th episode is an OVA that has nothing to do with the events after episode 12.
