I can see how someone who isn't accustomed to playing the flute can confuse it with the clarinet. I play both and can hear the distinction clearly.

The notes are very low and can be confused with a clarinet. Having come from a family that plays both instruments, you can hear a slight different in the clarity from the flute that does not come from the clarinet. Still beautiful.

@Rexicano Vibrato is an expressive technique, which is actually perfect for this song. I do admit that i find it annoying in some of his other recordings however his tone and control makes it quite easy to overlook. And as for the "cheesy arrangement" music is meant to be interpreted. How else would it be able to captivate an audience; you won't be able to feel it unless the performer does. Sure anyone can attain the same level of technique as Sir James, however, that is not why he is the best.

Umm excuse me but Sir James was NOT a Penny whistle player first. He said so himself in his Autobiography that was just hype created by the media. He started on the flute in Belfast NOT THE PENNY WHISTLE

genial, cuando toca la nota re sobreagudo, en verdad, no deja de asombrarme su forma tan sincera y brillante de tocarla (es verdad, aunque se escuche algo chillona, en verdad es todo un logro poder tocarla como él lo hace, pues la misma flauta hace que sea una nota extremadamente difícil de tocar limpia y dulcemente), pero bueno, no se puede esperar menos de una persona que ha dedicado casi 70 años a su instrumento
