  • comment vas-tu, depuis tout ce temps...

je t'ai promis -- quand je verrai un "hoop" ( yelow)-- je penserai à toi !!!

greetings from france to australie !!!

  • Its very nice to hear from you again. I appreciate your support. I also wonder how you came across a hoop, that made you think of this again?

  • Stop him! He's heading for the pier!

  • red balloon. good poop.

  • Thanks manumente, I don't have home internet so I just got your message today.

I enjoyed your video: It was touching and fun and funny at the same time. And mysterious and spiritual in the way that kites are. Thank you!

  • ... I love kites too for those very reasons. This too I agree carries those qualities.

  • That hoop was once taken home with us and we loved it from the day we found it. It was behind our fence for weeks but one day it yearned to go so I set it back in the lane way. The reason is now clear.

  • ... nicely put Joe.

  • Excellent^^ kind off relatioons in my life at the moment....

  • wow,wow awesome yellow hoop! love your vid

  • loved the hoop walk for a swim

  • If you haven't seen manumente's "a sinking, the poet saw", I highly recommend it!

  • Once in a while you come across something that justifies those long hours on the net. This was one of those times. So much in such a little offering. I read it as poetry. Thank you.

  • ... yes, I see art as an inarticulate form of suggestive communication. THANK YOU! ...

  • Did you seriously leave the yellow hoop in the ocean!?!

  • ... no I didn't. My son liked it too much to let go - perhaps one day???

I am however planning a work along those lines ...

  • Really brilliant and to think you used a camera phone? Genius

  • Coast Guard lookout!

Yellow hoop sighted on the coast of Portugal and at the mouth of the Tagus River, near Lisbon. Authorities are puzzled, as is always the case. Will it ever return home?

  • ı like it . it is briliant . by the way your video has reached Ankara in Turkey

  • ... this thing gets around doesn't it? ... please keep it rolling ...

  • En dernier ton filme a été vu en POLOGNE à VARSOVIE !!!

Si tout va bien il sera très bientôt à KIEV en UKRAINE !!!

  • ... wow Warsaw and Kiev. This has made me very happy. Thank you ...

  • Your yellow hoop has made the shores of New York. I quite enjoyed it and love the fact that you filmed it so simply. Thank you for sharing!

  • a wonderful simple little movie

  • TNX for sharing this movie with us !

Your hula hoop rolled thru Croatia ..

keep up that good work !!

    PEACE !

  • ... it hasn't been there before ... thanks for rolling it along ...

  • For information, your video has reached Paris in France, at least.

It is with great pleasure that I have watched several of your movies on YouTube, and I can only encourage you to carry on because I think you have real talent.

For me, the yellow hula hoop makes me think of George Michael's song "Spin the wheel" about how chance turns full circle and how nothing is gained on advance.

Whenever I see a yellow hula hoop (wherever I may be), I will think of you.

    Merry Christmas.

  • ... merci beaucoup!!! Your's was a very touching message to have received, and in many ways a reward. Thank you for being brave enough to have put your thoughts into words publicly. Until next time ...

  • been thinking about this little yellow hoop, skipping merrily through life until, halfway through, the hoop, like all of us, begins to hear the end sneaking up until suddenly...it's life is over...

  • ... or maybe its just begun?

  • Life was on the roll.... then it accelerated, and crashed.

Very nice work. Nice yellow hoola hoop.

  • I bet that took awhile to film, truly original - nice work.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for sharing! The video is a bit strange but not bad! I like it! is original!

  • Well, there is a theory out there that everything first came from the sea, maybe hula hoops qualify too? In any case, cute video. I'm sorry, it doesn't have profound meaning for me, just an entertaining video. Peace.

  • ... doesn't need to be any more than what you've observed and said. Peace to you too KosmicJanis.

  • hula hoop suicide?

  • ...perhaps??? ............ or perhaps not???

  • Nice work! The message is whatever you need it to be.

  • ... I'm assuming there is 3 of you, so to each of you thank you.

You have summed it up beautifully!!!

  • Very nice work.

    Cohen Brother's movie in here?

  • .. funny enough we watched "burn after reading" last night - not one of their best, but good enough. I like the things you say on your channel... thank you

  • I don't know how to interpret those background-sounds... o.O Maybe you should have used some music... or maybe I have to watch it more times to understand it...

Anyway, very nice idea, even kind of funny! <3

    -Steffi-

  • ... the sound is the continuous recording at the hoop's destination - the creaky peer and the water lapping. First faint, then realtime.

  • aaah yes, ok now I understand it :D

    thank you

  • slow down on the drugs

  • I'm completely fascinated, actually. (:

  • How interesting. Very clever shots, and a funny sight to watch.

  • Wow that Yellow Hoop has a mind of it's own. Pity it had to stop, but i guess it had to stop somewhere, and what better place but to dive into the sea! The Yellow Hoop kind of mirrors our human journey through life; on our travels, we don't know what's around each corner...we keep going...don't allow anything to knock you down. That Hoop has determination to get where's it's going and to keep on course. Great art in the video. Amazing video.

    Very well done!

  • the sequel: let it hitch a ride to maui on a boat and we'll do one here of it... run it alng the beaches... and up haleakala volcano. and then send it off to argentina and do the same thing there. send it all over the world. it could become the next icon for fed-ex. That would make a fun advertising campaign!

  • this is sooooo fcukin funny i nearly split my pants laughing! That hoop has a mind of it's own. :P well done! Do a sequel!

  • As a film studies major I have to say, this couldn't have been easy to make. My hat is off to you! Keep up the good work. I read all the other comments, and they seem to all agree.

    Thanks,

    Janelle

  • Trés bien, trés bien.

The circle, a sign of equality?

The universe works in a cycle, we are all part of a massive circle/sphere.

  • nice work

  • nice!

  • Et bien ,MERCI , je t'écrirai ( en anglais ) un peu plus tard OK ???

  • ... OK, Merci

  • i have to admit when i first saw it i thought " umm just a hoolahoop rolling, hmm" and then i watched again with a more expanded mind to find the deeper meaning , and i love it! serious..i actually saw myself as the hoolahoop.. it has a goal in life and is going on despite all obsticles and insane things going on around, it doesnt stop till it gets there, it has passion! haha i guess thats what good art does, makes you think, thanks for sending your vids! you are fantastic, thank you! cheers :)

  • ... thank you for the smile on my face

  • whats up with the noise in the background? It didnt seem to match anything.

  • ... it was not meant to match up - until in the end. The sound of the sea was the thing that got it going - at first its distant but escalates as the hoop approaches the water.

  • hi there:) thanks for inviting me to see this video.. great editing.. i interpreted the hoola hoop as a metaphor for human restlessness and the hope for ultimate peace and tranquility.. and you should take pride in the fact that the ripples your little project caused, have reached me here in india.

    have a great life:)

  • that's great stuff. Cheers and good luck with your art projects. Wishing you all the success you find.

  • BRAVO! Nice work.

  • now that's a pretty cool movie, very interesting indeed :)

  • Very nice too. I was going to make the same point about the background noises before I noticed it had been posted already. I'd like to see this on a real screen, rather than crappy youtube resolution. Good work!

  • ...appreciate that. Thank you. The sound was an important device suggesting a calling and a degree of single mindedness on the hoops part - ie that is all it could hear at the expense of everything else and it was the thing that got it to stand in the first place. Quality wise, this was shot on a cellphone in the spur of the moment. I would not be interested in contriving it for a slicker outcome. It just happened...

  • nice stuff Stretch out and wait Stretch out and wait Let your puny body, lie down, lie down As we lie, you say : Will the world end in the night time ? (I really don't know) Or will the world end in the day time ? (I really don't know) And is there any point ever having children ? Oh, I don't know What I do know is we're Here and it's Now
  • wow ... this was a sweet surprise. Morrissey lyrics? Its a very fitting response . Thank you very much.

  • thanks, lovely film

  • Left me empty, then after thinking about it, it was really quite sad.

Abandoned and alone, then suddenly, with purpose, just set off. There was no 'randomness' to the journey, there was a destination in mind, it became clear with that long shot from the jetty as the hoop fell from view... that final shot (gulp) that's what left me with that 'emptiness', there was no dignified ending to it's plight... I really felt for the poor hoop :(

But hey, that was just me... lol

    nice editing 4 stars

  • ... thank you for meeting me part way. I suppose that is the thing about the suggestive realm in that irrespective what compelled me to do it and what it may mean to me, once released its completely subject to the viewer's own sensibilities and understandings - all valid. I love the public realm for just that, and often find myself asking how can the same dumb thing that I've put in the world generate such varied - and sometimes such polarised - responses. Like your style ...

  • Clever film. Now, was the hoop making a break for it? If so why water? Why not just continue down the road? My money, the sprint for Sydney harbor has a dark side.

  • I really like the concept with this artistic project. I couldn't say it any better then ANNA has already. Take care and be safe.

  • very good one

  • Kept my attention. And Sydney looks nice in the background.

  • ... the water is Sydney Harbour and the park is Rushcutters Bay

  • Interesting.

  • That's a pretty clever movie.

  • this is really good

  • great video

  • he was on a mission!...hope the little guy can swim!..:)

  • You do CLEVER.

  • Okay, that's an award-winning short film. Love the editing, the pace, the silence except for the background noises. LOVE the way they suddenly become 'marine' in nature - a water splash, a wooden hull creaking, so one feels the hoop making a break for it. Especially love the sudden change from the vertical to the horizontal plane...from frenzied homo erectus to ..ahhhhh.....freedom, repose, surrender. Yes! Brilliant. Fresh. Poignant.

  • I could tell that hoop was heading for the park and the ocean! Love it...Kim
