I guess my theory would be he recorded the album version with his red, which has active pickups (think shine on pulse), and he goes from neck to bridge in the last solo all while pretty overdriven, maybe with his old passive black he felt that a calmer cleaner tone would suffice, not to mention it adds a slightly different color to the mood. I duno.

I still remember the day I learned that Richard had died. It was one maybe two days after. Even though Pink Floyd was around far before my time (I'm 24 years old), it devastated me. I can't remember the first time I heard Pink Floyd. They've just always been there. I listened to this song and cried that night. It still brings a tear to my eye. RIP Rick.

Over all the years they made music together it seems that Richard always brought the music back together after some rather cacophonous interludes. He was the glue that cemented the song together, and I am so pleased that Roger acknowledged his vital contributions before it was too late.

And, thank you David for including Rick in almost every performance you did - he was truely like no other, and we all miss him terribly.
