  • Very cool! My service van would love to have that implanted into it's console! Just think of what it would look like in my roving videos!

  • Hello pal do you still have this kit for sale or is it possible for you to send me the schematics? Thanks and keep up the good work!

  • interested in putting this in a customed car for show do you have any for sale and for how much?

  • hey do you have any right now for sale

  • el chiste de subir este tipo de vídeos es poner como se hizo ese es el caso mejor no subas nada...youtube,tu me ayudas, yo te ayudo, todos nos ayudamos...inteligencia colectiva...!!!

  • can you please send me a link to buy a kit or instructions on how to make it. jasoncase@live.com

    Thank you!

  • song is dub in life by eifel 65

  • What's the name of this song so I can test some of the parameters of this product

  • Its an FFT Analizer or only multiplexed filter?

  • where can I buy one??? speedman007911@yahoo.com

  • Where can i get a kit?

  • This is cool were can i get on i have always wanted to build one.

  • no link!

  • anywhere I could get the kit premade? While I love working with electromincs I dont have the time to put togeter one that has over 650 components.... but I do love it!

  • where can i buy this kit?

  • song name please?

    BTW:Great Job!

  • @MrSomeone4321 probably kinda late but it's dub in life by eiffel 65 :) the guys who made I'm Blue

  • @ecam90 hehe i know,but thanks very much!

  • This is amazing!!!

  • very good cool indeed! you have the arrangement because I wanted to ride one too if it is to pass me?

  • where can ai buy one it´s really cooll great job

  • egy nagyon jo

  • That key on table is your "ground" ?

  • @gabyrecords

It detects body proximity to change the display screen view.

  • @gavincurtis - Under what on eBay ? Cannot find it ... jjdup@worldonline.co.za

  • @jjdupz Kits are currently sold out. In the process of making more. Keep an eye out late March/April on ebay when they are available again.

Sorry, making kits is a lot of work.

  • i want one =) how can i make one?

  • I made a PIC do this.

  • Hello,

i have some questions for you:

i have to make a little project in school and i was thinking of making a spectrum and i found yours here and maybe i could remake it.

    so my questions are:

how much did it cost in totall and do you have still have some plans of it ???

    plze react :)

    Greetings

  • @blackmambe

try google, i hope it helps

P.S: Send me a vid when ur done :D

  • ok :P i'll make a video if its done :D:P

  • Have u consider an alternative solution instead of buying other peoples circuit and "remake" it? You should consider to use a Frequency to Voltage converter IC and then plug the output to a MCU's ADC or external ADC IC if u want higher resolution. FPGA should work too but I prefer MCU. Try to map a range of freq (typically 20 to 20k Hz for audio signal) and then once u know the corresponding voltage range produced by the converter u can have LEDs -> MUX and then use Logical combination from MCU

  • @SniperPIKACHU

How can a FPGA do this?

  • @SniperPIKACHU

Only one PIC MCU at 8 bit resolution with 4 MHz ceramic oscillator. The A/D is flooded with information. ')

  • @SniperPIKACHU

I designed this kit and sell it. It is a remake from my 1970-80's.

There is the FFT solution which is much more mathematically complex. Is that what you mean?

  • @blackmambe

    OP AMP bandpass filters.

  • wtf

  • i've been trying to find the name of this song for years! THANK YOU!!! Its one of those "ah i heard that a few years ago and it was awesome but i have no idea what its called"

  • Hi, my dad wants me to build one for him. I don't have problems with microcontrollers, filters and other you need to build it, but i see this analyzer has 16 central frequencies.

Now one octave step analyzers have 10 bands, while 1/2 octave ones have 20 bands. I don't know much about music so i don't know how to choose the frequencies for the filters. What frequencies are you using?

  • @fuscus66

Look at how you see and way you hear. This is a 1/2 and 1/3 octave analyzer.

    Bass is most powerful.

  • it's not on ebay anymore? is it?

i just checked, but can't find it.

could you let me know how i can get my hands on one of these? it's pretty awesome, and i really like to have one.

    cheers.

  • Is this a kit that you can purchase? Can you link several of them in a series and only display one meter?

  • where can i get shematic of this audio spectrum?

  • I am very interested in how this works... any pointers, what microcontroller did you use? and how tough is the programming?

  • Looks fantastic. Great job! I wish I had this on my wall or desktop.

  • amaizing o.o

  • muito show cara, tem o esquema dele ?

  • what song is this?

  • DUB in life

  • Can someone on this blog that has built one of these contact me and assist me in building one of these with a twist, I want to use LED Strips instead. Gavincurtis said you can use strips but somethings have to be changed to make it work. I am a quick learner and would love to build one of these.

  • dabailey,

I get super-busy fixing car computer systems; but contact me directly. :D

  • Hi where can i get this kit? cnt seem to find it on ebay

  • Excelente, como hiciste, que IC usaste?

  • i dont think he sells them anymore... tried messaging him, googling, looking on ebay.. nothing

  • I ran out of parts but did relist the kit on ebay once they have been restocked. Try "VU meter kit" on ebay search field. It has been there for a couple of weeks now. :)

  • are you gonna post another soon? I looked, yet it was no longer there

  • how much did it cost??

  • I cant find it on ebay either... Any suggestion..?

  • do i need to have any program for that or what?

  • where can i buy it????? please answer me thank you :D

  • Ebay.

In the search field enter "VU meter kit". You should find it.

    If not email me!

    Thanks!

    Gavin

  • WERE CAN I BUY ONE OF THIS

  • Ran out of kits, but more circuit boards now. Try "VU Meter kit" on ebay.

    Thanks for the compliment!

  • THIS is DUB?

  • Yeah it's pretty groovy, but it's not a VU meter!. It's a PPM meter. VU meters show an average output, which this doesn't.

  • Very true. But this will isolate a peak saturating your amplifier when the VU can't! ;)

Gotta have one, or the other; best to have both. On top of all that is a good set of ear(s).

  • Engineering Note 022709:

To self when spectrum analyzer indicates failure of amplifier:

NEVER compress audio to compensate; simply make the amplifier better.

  • I can't find it on ebay :/

  • Try 'VU meter kit'

  • that's awsome lol u got link for your ebay for one?

  • awesome!

  • can you send me a link or just the manual?

  • Can you say song name? I'll be very thankfull.

  • its Eiffel 65

  • The name of song....IS????...I like it.

  • Eiffel 65 - Dub in Life

  • I got excited at first when I saw the calipers in another video of yours because I know someone who would like an electrical interface to a pair of digital calipers. Very creative implementation of touch interfaces!

  • Me too! I'd love one. Would you do one with "old" red LEDs to match my B&O equipment? Cash waiting :)

  • :) The control board kit is $165.00 and you build your own LED array. Ebay 'audio spectrum analyzer kit'. Also have the blank 7 inch LED array boards as in this video (you stuff it with your own LEDs) for around $35.00.

  • Hi rayfenwick,

Have a smaller profile display approx 2.3" x 7" for rack mount equiment available in about 2 weeks (hopefully). Probably more ideal for audiophile applications. Uses the exact same controller board. Red, green and blue bargraph LED arrays have been sourced... much less expensive than discrete LEDs.

Control board with 2.3" X 7.0" display will be under $240.00 without any enclosure.

  • Yes! Its coming along very nicely! :-) When oh when can I give you my hard earned cash for one of these babies? hehe
