I hate to say it people, but the Americans didn't physically defeat the Germans, it was actually the Russians who liberated berlin and frankly they won the war. And referring to German Soldiers as Nazis is completly incorrect. They are the Wehrmacht, not the Schutzstaffel, probably 98% of them were fighting for their country, it just happened that they were alive during hitler's turn to power, it's not their fault.

So in a way, yes, the Russian struck the last blow by defeating them there. Well that wasn't really the point I was trying to get across. However, I do realize that the Canadians weren't the most significant army in the war,(What do you expect, were part of the Commonwealth!) but they did have many major battles including D-day. The Americans took 2 beach heads, the British took 2 aswell and the Canadians only took 1 and pushed the farthest. But there was only 5 beaches, we did a lot more than some other countries did and I think we deserve some recognition.

Very good but if it wasn't for the airbourne especially the 6th Briitsh the 6th of June would have been very different. Those guys held up German panzers with nothing more than a few hand held antitank guns. The US airforce missed nearly 100% of the beach fortifications and dropped their bombs inland making the beaches a blood bath. GOD BLESS ALL WHO DIED no matter what nationality.

3 months on, i know. when you watch "enemy at the gates", you'll see it was a different war in the east - a race war, and of two opposing dictators. hitler gave the order that all commissars (pep talk propaganda) were to be executed on the spot, so any retreating russian was shot by these guys.
