  • What does EMD mean?

  • @intercity112255 EMD is an engine manufacturer, google has your answer :D

  • @intercity112255 Electro Motive Diesel

  • Cool how railroad employees use walkie talkies to communicate, wounder if they still use flashing lanterns??

  • 115 is prime rail its measured by the yard not the foot , gene please send me a message to my inbox ....thanks shannon

  • Was his horn broken???

  • Flagging a crossing without a flag? hmmm...

  • No pretty good rail .oh yea thats per foot .

  • No pretty good rail .

  • OH its a geep .ok there good locos .and trucks my jeep is 16teen years old and still running .i love those horns .thanks .

  • You know that Roger passed away a couple years ago. I'm sort of keeping this alive. If I"m not mistaken, it means it weighs 115 lbs per foot. Anyone can please correct me if I'm wrong. I think that's pretty light rail...

    Gene

  • love the video! I do have a question. What does 115 lb rail mean?

  • @kyla2112 it's the weight of the rail per yard, and it is directly related to the thickness of the rail. Thicker rail is used on main lines, (132lb) and lighter rail is used on lighter trafficed/ older lines (70lb).

  • @Islanderh93 Thanks.

  • is this loco a alco ? i love the horn

  • @joebarefoot no, it's an emd gp9

  • I have a basic question; since there are so many cabride videos, I'll just post it here: Is there some kind of toilet on a locomotive? What do they do when they GOTTA go? Can they stop and run off into the woods or what?

    Nice video BTW.

    Thanks!

  • @TheMrBlinx that little area in the very front of the unit is the bathroom iirc.

  • @TheMrBlinx its in the nose, literally

  • @TheMrBlinx In many cases....right out the window. Not all locomotives have a toilet. Makes it a bit awkward for female crew members though.

  • Lol, I love the horn story. I agree with using the old rail to make a new yard track. I also agree a new industry should come to town. What speeds do you run at with such good mainline?

  • Cool vid. I live in PC just east of the high school.

  • is this train a 2stoke diesel?

  • Why would these engines ever be run in this direction...you can't see around corners without going to the other side.

  • @kyla2112 Few short lines or regional railroads have the ability to "turn" a locomotive. So if you are running a single unit consist with the chop nose forward, when you come back you are going to be long hood forward. Simple.

  • rest in peace roger (barstool) past away one year ago on the 28th he did a lot of video work on our motorcar runs on the skally line along with being a good friend

  • lol.. i liv in a place called Hinckley... except im in the Hinckley thats in the UK.. (the real one xD)

  • Where they flagged the crossing its a different engine because they were running long hood forward before that.

  • lol, funny conveersation of anouther video XD

  • Gimme an ALCo any day............

  • that looked so cool. I once got to drive a 5 engine P&W train 6 miles. How were you able to do that?

  • 1,750 HP of pure diesel power!

  • old gp9 chop nose

  • Real railroading in real America. I love it.

  • How old is the Gp9

  • 1954 for a year.

"barstool" (Roger) passed away on sunday. Rest in piece friend. Hell of a guy, could make anything out of nothing and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone.

  • Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully we can keep his vids on here...enjoy his track speeder footage.

  • Sorry to hear that. Hasn't been a very good last 2 weeks for me either. Buddy of mine shot himself just before Christmas, and another friends dad died last night.

Man what the hell is going on?

  • GP 9 Aren't being used anymore or

    are they Being Used

  • RJ Corman in Dover Ohio has a high hood GP9. I got 2 ride in it several years ago. Its still running. Cosmetically its in excellent condition. I'm pretty sure it was there best engine or one of the best ones.

  • I still see GP9's. October 24 and 31st, 2009, I saw a GTW (CN) 4633

  • They are being rebuilt and used for switching, and some are being fitted with smaller gensets that produce almost equal amount of power that use up to 55% less fuel.

  • Great film, thanks for posting it.

  • what was your consist?

  • Sweet!!! Thanks..
