  • Am I the only one who was going "eeeeee your technique needs to be a lot better, round those arms, concentrate more on your movements to make them cleaner etc."???

  • @celesteissocoollike1 actually it was a 70 made a mistake opps:0

  • I got a 75 when I did it last year:)

  • Seriously???? U suck work on ur turn out buddy

  • yh definitely needed more turn out!!! just more attention 2 technique. on the runs in the last bit u just sort of slid-needed 2 b neater. arms were quite weak. needed 2 b a lot more energetic. nice feet though.

  • i remember taking this exam when i was 11 up at the RAD studios in london. Great experience! xx

  • Wel done in your exam!!! :)

  • omg no offence but this is the grade 4 r.a.d dance isnt it? and definetly turn out more and express your feelings:-).. sorry x

  • Wow, that floor looks slippery. How did you manage to stay upright?

  • mind your turn-out throughout the dance

  • Hmmm..... I think that your arms are mostly hung down in the performance... like, it looks like you don't have much energy.

I love your gleasard (sorry if I spelt wrong cuz I don't know how to spell it ><)

But overall, I think you did okay but you just needed more energy.

  • what did you get ? and who examinates you(: ?

  • Hi, you are a great dancer! :) i'm 13 and will be taking this exam soon D: im so nervous!

  • @Amy28904 Goodluck!

  • My exam is tomorrow, I have been replaying the video to make sure I don't miss out on anything. :S

  • @Breanna1180 good luck i present mine on october just 4 boys in all the country ( Mexico)

  • I' taking this exam on the 9th December....So nervous.......

  • @BalletBlonde123 its coming , i already didt it

  • were yu on ponite culdnt tell

  • @balletgyrl2404 Satin balletshoes with ribbons, the required shoes for Inter foundation. =)

  • eeek

  • i'll have my exam on next november >.< so nervous..

  • i have my axam for this on the 28th so nervous! hate the fact the syllabus is changing! oh well , but anyways this is good! you need more preformance and elevation but really good , you looked like you were slipping abit , use water or roisin but overall very good!

  • i am currently about to go for my intermediat foundation exam.

you look very good in this dance but i feel that it needs a bit more emotion to it and you need to soften up your arms a little.

    still well done!

  • OMG! i do this when i was 12 :O and i got a 80 :)

    distinction

  • you are succes. i did the same dane for this test, how dd you go for this test?

  • u need to turn your knees out and point your toes more.

  • this is really nice! how old were you when you did this exam? i am taking this next year in the new syllabus :)

  • @mliaab I was 14. :) Succes!

  • @SanneMusic ill be 14 when i take this exam too! but for the study we get 2 choices: a very classical one and a sort of contemporary one :) congrats on the merit!!!

  • wow i really love this dance i did this grade in november

  • for future dances.. keep arms strong and in place and dont slosh in your balances (idk how to spell it bal-en-says) make sure its sharp and pointe your feets! (:

  • Im taking the exam in August!! It's very difficult!! I'm going to failed the exam!! :(

  • Hey im taking the exams next month :DD should really use the space given and try to jump higher!! Travel more!! Keep on dancing! :DD

  • Hey im doing my exam soon too, i think you really need to turnout, jump to 'jump', clearer steps and when you do the balongse you have to take bigger steps!

  • yes, agree, your turnout really needs a lot of work as does your sense of 'punctuation' with the movements.

  • why are you dancing in a basketball court?

  • Your like me as i aboulutely SUCK at turn out!! You've probably got better turn out but still not good enough for exam xx How old are you? Becuase if your quite young its more difficult to exaggarate jumps (Especially if you've just come from grade 4-5) xx But appart from the odd wrong move your quite good x A little more parctise you'll be good for the exam xx

  • your legs are too turned in. sickle foot.need more strength and exaggerate your movement more. travel more when you jump.your fifth position must be tight and not leave a gap in between.eye line.look up and smile.:)

  • I do ballet too and this dance is in my exam in July.

  • @xMheadx Goodluck :)

  • jump higher n turn out... :)

  • i think the first two jumps at the start of the dance should be more dynamic and strong. and you can actually try not to jump too much:) flow it:)

    you'll look great!:)

  • That is amateur, as I think?

  • @ewaewa1989 Yes, I'm an amateur dancer.

  • i agree with the turn out point. also, i think u need to use more elaborate movements. i can see you love dancing but i definitely cannot feel it. btw, its suppose to be a tombe (dunno the right spelling) cupe then tombe etc. not shasay cupe shasay etc... ya....also, i think you need to jump higher.

  • with all the respect ;) I think you're great, but you have to jump higher, and add more grace and strength to your arms, so you wouldn't look like as if you're flailing :) . And I certainly can't comment on your turn-out because I'm really bad at turn-outs lol

  • Taking this exam this August. Turn out more, and JUMP! That floor looks awfully slippery for a basketball court.

  • you definitely need to turn out more.... I actually can't believe you're doing intermediate foundation with no turn out like that (sorry! not trying to be mean)

Your jumps don't.. "jump" and your arms need to be stronger, especially during the running sequances! It shouldn't look like you're "flushing the toilet" in toilet tag....

Nice expressive dancing though :) just need to work on the technical... and seriously turn out. that bugs me a lot lol! XD

  • @simpleminded4

Hahaha that 'flushing the toilet' made me laugh (in a good way). Thanks for your comment! :)

  • i got 77 distinction for IF exam......but!!! i wanna tell u that

i love ur feet ><....well u need more turn out

  • A good effort.

You're arms need to have more strength.

You need to jump higher and don't spring on your balonces.

You need make your dancing more flowing, don't just move your arms into a position all of a sudden gradually move them up there to make your dancing look more natural instead of stiff and limited.

And finally enjoy it with more performance.

    WELL DONE!

  • What did you get on your exam?

I am doing mine this year, I am very nervous and I want to know what you got for doing that.

  • @xxBalletIsMyLife

It's all in the description box =)

  • Do not spring ur balonces

  • your ballenceis are very slosshy you need to work on your arms and pointe you feet wayyyyy more otherwise your very good. just trying to help

  • wow ur reallygood :)just one little thing...make sure that ur back heel is down when needed to be but other than that ur really good :) x

  • Good Job! Just remember to hold your turn out and try to extend your lines! Other than that I can see you have a real passion for dance! Keep it up :)

  • oh god you have no turnout!it's really bad to see, i'm sorry. your 55 is too too too much for you. of course you have other beautiful things but..you should absolutely work your turnout!

  • at 0:34 isn't it demi-seconde?

  • @hellokitty798020 yeah i just realised that too! I got taught that part at demi-seconde!

  • be careful of your knees,u might injure them

  • I just passed my int foundation exam....errr i'm just happy i passed an i didn't fail ! xD but i'm really bad at pointe :/

  • another correction...When you have jumps in the number really really get off the ground k?

  • btw i think you should watch your arms a bit and make sure they dont flop down.

  • i have just done that exam and i am 12 years old and i absolutely love ballet! i got an 86 distinction! i am now starting intermediate! they are both very enjoyable!

  • Hey! great job first of all, im in Intermediate Foundation and im age 12... Just a correction kinda, make sure you really really turn out because otherwise it kinda looks sloppy and thrown together (words of my ballet teacher) just somethin to keep working on!

  • @DanceEllie911

good words about the turbout-- vocational exams like people who have good turn out

a question, im 16 and i do intermediate and advanced foundation. taking inter this year then adv. foundation next year

only ever wanted to be a dancer, so studying performing arts atm then auditioning for dance colleges at 18...

been told a good merit (70 ish) in inter could be my mark.. is this enough to be a pro dancer?

(computer wouldnt let me simply comment i had to reply to someone, so sorry

  • @ysor16 Oh thats okay! i think that u could be a pro dancer with that BUT u would have to work very very hard

  • @DanceEllie911 thankyou... its always better to ask someone else..my own ipinion is never right haha

i hope so... i do have naturally almost flat turn out so that should work in my favour, and passion and hardwork definitely count for something :)

  • her arms need to be more deffinate and the assembles need to jump and travel more, her turn out could do with a bit of improving and shes not really on her toes a lot, otherwise its rlly good :D

  • love it! only thing to really correct is arms- use resistance and don't let it get too flowy

  • I love this dance!!! And the intermediate one is even more fun!!!

  • @ilovelibertyTYC

    Yes it is!!

I'm learning it right now and it's a really lovely one.

Although I like doing balance's like they have in the Inter Foundation dance.

  • @lives2dances agreed also i dont think the arms were right for some of it?

  • it was okay but it looked a little sloppy, so make sure that you define your movement and also your arms need more clarifying and energy

  • gorgeous! great performance & technique however, i'll be a bit picky.. run on your toes & the balances were a bit bouncy. but you're amazing and bet you did fab on your exam! [a]

  • you have to turn out more. It isnt that good. Dont keep looking at the front. Follow your hands. :D & the steps have to be clearer.

  • 55 isn't really bad. xD

Very nice performance! I've never done intermediate foundation, but I think more turn outs are needed when you're running and bending.

  • work on your turnout, its really bad

  • You need to practise a whole lot more or move to a better school, because their are tonnes of faults and it doesn't look nice at all and i am in the same level as you.

  • you should move more......MUCH more

  • you should really move more

  • Hi, really good performance. This may sound stupid, but around what sort of grade is 'intermediate?' I'm sort of new to the whole thing! :P

  • @ponytailsxx

Hi! Remember; nothing is a stupid question! :)

First, you have pre primary and primary. Those are for children about 5/6 years if I'm right. Then you have grade 1-8 for those who have ballet as a hobby. For those who want to get serious, you have these vocationals. You all different grades, ranging from intermediate to proffesional solo exams (those are really hard and almost no one passes). Well I hope I helped you out!

  • Comment removed

  • @ponytailsxx

    hi :)

the vocational exams are as follow:

    intermediate foundation (not compulsory)

    intermediate

    advanced foundation (also not compulsory)

    advanced 1

    advanced 2

solo seal (must have recieved distinction in advanced 2)

    hope this also helps :)

  • well in my stodio we do pre primary, pramary, then 1-4 you get chosen for inther found then and go in interfound and grade 5 then 5-8 id normal and you have interfound years 1 and 2 then avanced 1 and 2

  • any1 can tell u love it, but if you want advice, try jumping a bit higher and pointing ur toes more :) (i dono if ur wearing soft points or simple ballet slipers) elswise ur very good and i cant w8 to see you in a performance :) chase it if u love it :)

  • @nefelicuster

    thanks (L)

Especially the firs thing you said, about that anyone can tell I love dancing.

I was wearing simplesilk ballet slipper bc that's the dess code for this exam =)

Thanks fo the second compliment and that you wanna see me perform!

  • We do the same dance just the piano is a tiny bit different :]

  • I can tell why you got 55, you are practically parallel throughout the whole dance, so just try to work on turnout for your next exam :)

  • don't bounce so much in between steps. otherwise great work :)

  • Oh that's pretty good !

Just, be carefull : don't slide on the floor...

But you've got a great technique ! Good luck !

And, sorry for my English : I'm french :)

    Bye !

  • @dansepassion74

Don't worry, your english is great! =)

Thanks so much for your wish and compliments and constructive criticism!

  • The only critic that I would give you is to just have stronger arms. I noticed a lot of closed-in firsts with the arms. As well as on the sautes, bent elbows when they needed to be stretched out and straight. Otherwise, great technique and form.

  • @coryw4

    Thanks so much =)

  • SanneMusic, you are a little en dedans. Try to use your legs' muscles to be en dehor. <3<3<3<3 (i'm italian, i don't speak english very well!!!!)

  • Joy beats good technique every time!!

  • Yeaah!! 20002 viewers! I'm so happy! Thanks you all :) ♥

  • Ok hun! Great try! Just a few kind words of advice coming from a trained dancer (still learning myself) anyway ..Use more turnout and work on balance. Keep trying you have great potential.

  • @Loveprincessmiah

    Thanks soo much!

And so much luck with your dancing.

That you may dance your whole your life through! :)

  • You are welcome! And thank you very much for you comment.

  • haha good jobXD

try holding your arms when they run, cos they're currently moving when you're running.xD

  • This is great but you need to remember your TURN OUT!!! Your are doing really well in your study at this point. You used great feeling in your arms and fingers in some parts, not so hot in others. Congrats on passing your exam. :)

  • nice but you have to jump higher more than in this vdo and you need to point your toes... :o)

  • Hee sanne!<3

    Heel erg goed gedaan!,

Ik moet die dans nu ook leren!

    xxxxx

  • i know you're nervous, i'm doing this exam in octocber/ november time and i know how it feels.

it's really good but a little correction from me: on your baloncés [don't know how to spell it] watch you arms. your are expressing yourself in them, but try to control them a bit more. so like, support your elbow and don't let it over-cross your body.

and err [sorry im being picky] travel more on the second baloncés so you can get right upstage.

    x

    p.s your dancing is beautiful.

  • You're VERY good! I think you should point your toes a little bit more on the balances, but you can tell you're really good and that you love it!

  • the floor looks slippery ...like REALLLLY slippery :|

  • @juliawuliaxoxo

    Oh yes!

Especcially with silk ballet shoes 8|

  • Heee!

  • thanks for posting..^_^ this video help me so much to do this dance than read the instruction book ^_^ hehehe

  • heey! rememebr me? yeah probably not but I just got my results! took forever! I got a 63! yay! i passed! :D

  • why are you doing this in a gym?

  • @carlyheartsdance lots of dance classes are held in gyms; my DD's teacher uses a school hall, the school gym, and the school's dance studio for various classes.

  • @mrsspanner14 I was just wondering because gym floors (at least most of them) are made of concrete, and that must be murder to dance on :P hahaah.

  • @carlyheartsdance oh, I see. Most gym floors in the UK are made of wood so not too bad :-)

  • @mrsspanner14 ahhh, well that's better than concrete for sure (; hahahaha. it still probably not the best tho, where it's not sprung. or, is it?

  • turn out!!!

  • TURN OUT YOUR FEET GIRL

    but dont be nervous

have fun and dance it you look like your in pain

  • more elevation and turn-outs would do good

  • wow, you're really good :) other people have said already, but yeah, remember turn out :) but you're honestly REALLY good :D

i'm in this grade, not sure when i'm taking my exam yet tho. i remember when i first joined the grade, i found the dance SO hard, but onceyou know the steps, it's fine :)

well done on passing your exam :) x

  • wow I mean there are lots of things to perfect and correct, but you danced your heart out and I could really see that so well done! :)

  • thank you for posting this and well done for having the confidence to have your dance filmed...my only correction would be to turn out more- always be thinking about it. Especially the balance's at the beginning because this where turnout is most obvious. well done and good luck for your future dancing!

  • @cazm94

Thank you for this genuine response!

  • I just did my inter foundation exam today, ovverall it was good i really hope i pass. Even though i am only 12 and you might not listen to my advice i would advise you to make your movements larger and bigger to intrest the audience more but other than that, good job

  • My daughter is 10 and she is in intermediate foundation, she will take the tuition in july, but not the exam because of the age

  • you REALLY need to work onthis dance, really try to turn out on every thing and jump hire

  • My daughter's learning this dance. Your start was lovely; you seemed a little self-conscious at being watched but that's understandable. It doesn't matter what age you are when you do an exam and dancingqueen1999, if you're 10 you shouldn't actually be on Youtube, you're not old enough to have an account.

  • @mrsspanner14 I've actually been told by several teachers that the minimum age is 12

  • @smoochandariel: hello, I meant that SanneMusic isn't too *old* to be doing Inter Foundation. There's no upper age limit for RAD Vocational exams, but you have to be 11 or older to take Intermediate Foundation, and 12 or older to take Intermediate. All the minimum ages are listed on the RAD's Vocational Exams page.

  • @mrsspanner14 lol that's exactly what I said :P 12 is the minimum age for intermediate

  • @smoochandariel lol but this is intermediate *foundation* so the min. age is 11 for this! :-))

  • @mrsspanner14 lol, yes it is indeed :P

  • @mrsspanner14 Haha! I know! I totally agree with you!

  • oh ich weiß noch als ich diesen tanz tanzen musste... ich habe ihn geliebt... =D

  • congrats on passing your exam :) omg who gives a crap about age. im fifteen and doing this dance. so just shutup. dancing isnt about how good you are, its about enjoying yourself and doing what you love. so little miss "i am ten and know the hole dance k", no one really gives a crap.

  • Thank you :)

Yeah, I once read the quote: Dance to express, not to inpress.

Good luck with your dance! :)

  • not enough turn-outs, my dear.

and work dance with more strength and like you're enjoying it.

to those who are critisizing about her age, just shut up! dancing is for expressing yourself, not to show off. i'm 17 and doing the same dance.

  • you need help i am ten and know the hole dance k

  • @dancingqueen1199 please learn how to spell! And it doens't matter how old you are when taking a ballet exam! As long as you do the work to the best of your ability, then it's fine! Knowing the whole dance doesn't really say much... If that's what dance was all about, I'm pretty sure the whole world could do it badly and say they know the choreo as well!

  • Comment removed

  • By that time i was 14.

    We're doing everything slow here.

I only have 2 lessons a week (1 pointe and 1 theory) and my school is not like an academy.

    I wish you luck!

  • That was quite nice. I know you have already done your exam, but when you do your balancés make sure that you don't jump into it, try more to slide a little bit, and try to use your turnout a little more!!! otherwise really nice! :)

  • hey. so how did your exam go? :)

  • Heyhey :)

    it went well!

There's a little story about it in the description. :D

  • oh cool. gratz! :) haha. i wil be doing it either end of this year or next year, depending on my teacher. :)

  • Hey

Cool! Good luck with it =)

  • haha thank you.

may you pirouette your way to distinction as well. XDXD

  • Haha amazing :)

    I love to do pirouettes.

  • haha. i love looking at my friends do it. :P haha. i don't think i can manage very nice pirouettes that is why. haha. XDXD

    happy belated valentine's day. XD

  • Haha you too!

  • the back leg in you fourth fondu should be straighter. Also, try and show each step in your pas de bouree more clearly. Practice slowly at first, then get quicker.

  • Thank you!

  • u need to change ur ballet runs no offense but it looks like ur just shlopping around

  • i'm doing grade 5 and intermediate foundation together.

so i have to do both exams (:

i missed out on a few lessons though.

    so i'm quite nervous.

    (:

    xx

well i bet u did great on your exams!

  • Ah okay, that must be a lot of work!!

Good luck on your exam =)

    xx

  • sory i don't know why i said that twice!

  • Veuy good! I would just work on jumpind higher in you temps leve!

  • Great job...but don't forget your hands...!!!

  • what grade are you in?

just like said before, concentrate on your turnout

but it really shows how much you love dancing, you really express that vibe.

  • We do a year of grades and then a year of performance. Last year I was in grade 5. I did not do the exam because I was going for Inter Foundation...

And yeah, turnouts. My teacher has given me exercises to work on them. And with the pliees I'm standing on turntables and that helps a lot too!

And really thanks for that compliment.. really awesome , thanks! :D

  • okay so your around my level (:

what kind of exercises did she tell you to do?

haha np at all, make sure to check out and coment on my vids (:

  • umm she sent me a youtube video.

Like sitting on a chair, placing your ankle on your knee and bending forward for a couple of seconds. then releasing.

I will watch your vids right now =)

  • if i were you, i never would upload more videos of me! need urgent practice!!!

  • Hi I think you should concentrate more on turn out, especially for a vocational graded examination. As a teacher on the other had I would Never tell a dancer that their turn out is horrible, as I think that is not going to help you at all ...unlike another on here, but yes that would be the area to work on the most. You have very nice presentation and many dancers never get that.
