  • महिषाहसुरमर्दिनिस्तोत्रम्

    (Măhĭṣāsŭră Mărdĭnĭ Stōtram)

  • excellent song!

  • can you give me the lyrics of this song sir :)

  • @ProfetadoSenhor10 Your Christianity is as popularity craze as Islam. I know how churches brainwash Christians by saying 'Jesus is your only bliss' and so they're banned from doing anything different. I also know how your filthy people go house to house to brainwash people into your religion. Yours is actually worse than Islam bcoz at least they're truthful of their actions. At least we Hindus respect all religions and believe that all messengers came for a good purpose.

  • @ProfetadoSenhor10,

Could you please stick to christian channels for your christ propaganda?. Thanks.

  • @314159265352

    the rendation was superb

  • The uploader and his team have done a good job of creating this semi-video with so many different pics of the supreme Goddess.

But the singer has committed so many mistakes in her rendition. The lyrics in many places are not correct. It is even more blasphemous to sing incorrectly than not singing or believing at all. All listeners and the uploader beware !!

By and large, the version of lyrics originating from Tamil Nadu is good .

The rendition by Bombay Sisters appears to be more correct .

  • There is another version by MS somewhere here on YouTube which makes tears spring in your eyes, because of the sheer beauty of its rendition.

  • I am a Sikh but I appreciate the hard work done by the poster in posting this Powerful Strotram on you tube. I learnt this when I was 10 in my school in Karnataka. At that time, I never thought that a posting of this video would bring about comments by people who do not know how to respect other people's faith, beliefs etc and use this forum to spread their own narrow minded views.

That said, could you post the second part of this here, please.

  • thank you so much for uploading. this song really propelled me into Shaktam and the Dharma as a whole.

  • its good

  • @314159265352 I think the guy, videosevangelicos16, has been kissed by the devil. well, whatever, never mind.... to complain, crib, deride. degrade other religion is not us, we don't thrive by criticizing other religions, and that is well said by, Vasudeiva Kutumbakam,..... if ppl get peace in any form in any religion, then inshallah we are all happy........

  • This version is my favourite. Do you have the full stotram in this version? Where can i get this?

  • Well sung!

  • How do I get a download for this strotam?

  • is there a source of the musical notes for this song...so that i could play it on harmonium?

    thanks!

  • Hi, whr i can get the the full version in same traditional way?

  • the tone of that lady had a good match for this song.even thought it's old women voice.

  • obsessed

  • @PEDRO22is10 & who is the real god? don't tell me Christ because all of Christianity was pieced together from religious texts that were written long before Christ came on the scene.

  • @PEDRO22is10 grow up will you. fanatics like you disgrace all of christianity.

  • The lyrics is sanskrit and not Kannada. But the Carnatic influence in the tune is pretty obvious. I think you might call it traditional ' South Indian Tone', as in Eastern India we traditionally use a tone as in the following video :

    hxxp://yyy.youtube.com/watch?v=RkSkszLSg4c

I am sure there are other versions and nothing is universally traditional, as is the case with Ashtapadis. Great tune btw.

  • This is Kannada and not sanskrit ...

  • This is Kannada song and not Sanskrit .. Anyways enjoyed the song very much

  • this is based onthe book of hindus or the bible for christians

  • at 37 there was an eye in the back ground

  • how come the bengali version has a different melody, same words?

  • @starsweet4 : There is no bengali version ... the lyrics is always sanskrit ... The version you are talking about is popularized by RKM (most probably Swami Sarvagananda, but I have heard him singing it in at least a couple of tunes), another version (that in BK Bhadra's MM) was probbaly set to tune by late Pankaj Mallik ... this one is much older in that sense ...

  • @subhrajit123 the bengali one has a completely different melody. this one is more monotone.

  • @starsweet4 : What I am trying to say is... there is no bengali version ... The lyrics is always sanskrit ... The versions those are popular in bengal are set to tune by Late Pankaj Mallik and Swami Sarvagananda resp. ... I don't know which one you are referring to ... but neither of them is a 'bengali' one ...

  • its good devi stuti

  • @PEDRO22is10 Did you know there is no water under the earth? The crust of the earth is the bottom most part that is accessible. Similarly not everything written is meant to be taken in a literal sense. Learn to read the universal msg these texts are trying to spread. The msg is very simple indeed.

  • Awesome and very inspiring.

  • Thanks for posting traditional form of Ayi Giri Nandini

  • Hindu slokas are meant to find inner peace and balance. Regular chanting provides unfound relief in this hugely materialistic world.

  • @vedanthamk For permanent peace of mind, look to chant the name of the one lord.

  • I love the traditional sanskrit tune for this, there's something so mystical about it and powerful.

  • Like every living being, I used to run after pleasure. Alas, sense pleasures are fleeting and eventually bring sadness. Mother, I have finally found a source of eternal joy; can the tongue taste anything sweeter than your name? can the ears hear anything more soulful than your praise? can my mind know of a greater pleasure than thinking of your lotus feet? No. No. No. Dear Mother, I have faith in you, I am fearless, let my love for you be eternal, nothing more I desire.

  • 好有特色 免彩漂亮的圖畫 ^^

  • super song

  • i can pls i need all dugai amma pictures

  • lovely images on the Goddess. Is it possible to share the pics with us?

  • Thanks for uploading this stotram. my mum really love this song.

  • beautiful song, thank you very much to upload,,,my favourite name marthini and mardhini

  • thanks a lot..............

  • could i get a English translation of the meaning of this song?

  • @reviveramesh, see other video Mahisasura Maridini (in 2 parts). It has english meaning for this stotram.

  • @314159265352 I only understand some words: sundara is (asunder!) beautiful, exceptional gheetha is song or music amritha is ambrosia honey deva is god samaana unity? (please somebody correct me here)

  • Sure, just google it. The trans. is readily available.

  • @reviveramesh Sure, they are available all over the web. Just Google it. Namaskaram

  • @reviveramesh chants work effectively only in Sanskrit verses. Their translation to hindi or english do not have that effect. since you may not understand arabic, similarly Sanskrit is Hindu God's language and anything recited in Sanskrit is understood by Gods. so you could translate to English but it doesnt make sense when it comes to praying the God.

  • @reviveramesh Way too complex my friend!! Stays mystical, profound knowldegde if sanskrit and spiritual knowledge is neccesarry to understand the words , let alone too interpret it.

  • cn i get tis in mp3 plz:)

  • How called the god on 3:22?

I have seen her a lot of times in diffrent madir's XD

  • That's Kodiyar Amma. She has her own legends and following. I believe she was a local girl in Gujarat (?) that developed divinity.

  • Thank you very much.

  • extremely calming

  • anyone got the Priya Sisters' version of this, very authentic (just the Vedic metre chanting no instruments)

  • Wonderful !!!!!! Thanks for uploading this beautiful stotra. I hope I can learn this thanks again

  • visit durgamma [dot] com

  • Excellent.... May mother durga bless you for uploading this video..

  • WONDERFUL ! At 70 years' age- and having heard, taught and listened to this stotra for the past fifty years, I heard this rendition with ecstasy. The voice is so mellifluous. and the nuances of gamaka make the chant so SO beautiful.

I do wish you will recite the full stotra of all twenty verses just for our listening pleasure. The religious benefit is a big bonus.

Thanks and Devi has already blessed you. What is a mere mortal's blessings before THAT,

    Regards

    Krishnan

  • Excellent.. superb.. marvellous... thanks so much for uploading this video

  • @iFuckedHanumanShiv thu aise baath karthe rahega tho allah bhi thujhe maaph nahi karega

  • I love listening to this song of the greatest Goddess. The traditional dhun/tune in Sanskrit is more good.

  • Jai Maa Durge!

  • hai this is a good work but most of the part is missing the second sloka and others are also missing

  • This is not full version. See Full song in other video in my channel.

    Thanks for watching.

  • hai where can i gt the full version of this song i tried finding it in ur prof bt cant get la ls helppp

  • @314159265352

where can i watch that video

  • @314159265352 Is it not dangerous to listen to only half? That is like stopping a prayer in the middle!! And this is not any old prayer that we make. This is an ancient sanskrit prayer from the Devi Mahamtmaya also known as the Sri Sri Chandi Paath. Please include the second part for this too- I searched and listened to the other second part but dont know if there is a few words missing in the middle that would make the meaning into something completely different...Thanks.

  • @kotugirl, if devotion in heart is full, listening or saying prayer in half does not matter. By the way, complete version is also available in my channel.

  • @314159265352 That is also true. Trust HER and not the bogeyman inside our minds...Thank you.

  • @314159265352 - can you please share the same tune with 'complete version'? thank you for posting!

  • Many Thanks for the beautiful pictures and song of amma.

  • Do most Indians study Sanskrit? Is it kind of like the way some Americans take Latin classes?

  • All God slokas are in Sanskrit ....We understand but we don't speak Sanskrit in every day life. This sloka is very powerful and if it is heard r read everyday then it gives you power .

  • Hinduism is the only religion which praises the beauty of nature, the Inner TRUTH of the ATHMA(SOUL), and the Supreme Personality(Cosmic Energy)/(paramathma).....

  • @ihadsw So does Sikhism. peace.

  • Dear Saamale,

Answer for your Question: Sanathana Dharma Is The Eternal Truth Of this Thee Worlds. The 'Human Body with a animal head' represents the eternal Athma(Soul) is also in animals. So,its our duty to respect them! We are same as other creatures present in the worlds....but only our body or sense differs!!

  • Sorry, I have NO interest in learning about religion, in which prophet marries 8yr old girl, which murders millions of innocent animals every year, which has no respect for other religion and which give reward for killing other people.

  • i aggree..this is totally wrong and in acceptable to learn islam .hehehe.

  • After reading last line, I stopped my idea of detailed response.

Why dont you guys learn to respect other religions?

If you dont like it, just stay off these videos.

  • @HinduBrahman ...hi i think one shud disable the comment section for these videos...

  • @HinduBrahman i guess disabling teh comment section is the way to go...

  • several stanzaas Missing :(

  • : ' )

  • Thank you so much for this video..

  • one of the super powerful hymn , thx for posting

  • Such a beautifully composed, blissfully sang song!! Sad that people are fighting over crappy things!

  • Friends it does not matter if its south indian or not, as far as it touches ur heart and means what u want to chant, all shlokas are indian...

  • i wish every indian thought like u :)

  • Mahishasura Mardini stotram is a famous Sanskrit composition which contains the essence of Chandi whose recitation helps overcome fear & negative emotions. Please notice and enjoy the play on words. Instead dont make comments on whether you have south Indian or a north Indian feel in it. Dont forget that the composer Adi Shankara, was himself a south Indian by origin.

  • I do not think it matters if it has a south Indian tinge.

    Jai Ma!

  • Absolutely sublime...a truly devotionaly sung offering to our Goddess Durga.

  • The reason why you think this has a south Indian tinge is because this is a mostly recited in the south. It is rendered in Sanskrit as written by Shankaracharya!

  • I have heard this STHOTRA chanted to a different tune in Bengali Chamundi prayers. I think the tune and lilt is adaptable to wishes of devotees since this is not "veda".

Secondly - I have never seen an authentic statement of Adi Sankara Bhagavadpaada's authorship of this wonerful stotra.

I keep looking for this. Any help will be appreciated.

    Jaya Jaya hey Mahishasuramardini.

  • its a great song, i think u feel south indian bcoz of the singer sounds typically south indian. I love it anyway. Jai mata di!

  • This is the original Sanskrit version written by Adi Sanakaracharya. The south indian tinge is only due to the tune set in Carnatic music. Its as much Indian as any north indian hymn.

  • I wish you upload more high quality sanskrit hindu video,Rama bless you,Namaste

  • How can I tell thanks to you Sir?

  • fantastic!

  • BEAUTIFUL!JAI!JAI!

  • i wish i could hear the whole thing with this authentic sanskrit tone. BEAUTIFUL!

JAI JAGADAMBE MAA!!! JAI MAA JAI MAA JAI MAA

those who oppose this mother.... no one can save them... A mother always forgives, make sure you know you are her child, for you she will take on the form of Kali Maa to protect you from even the worst. When you are her child she will be Lakshmi maa to give you all the things you need, She will be Saraswati maa to bestow all her wisdom to you, Prithivee Maa your support

  • Wow its absolutely fantastic...H'ppy Navaratri to all

  • a very happy navratri to all may devi maa shower her blessings on all

  • Bahut Dhanyavad for this posting. Another YouTube poster listed their posting of this stotra as Sanskrit, but it was thamizar. Without you I would never've known the Sanskrit.

  • heartly thanks

  • Thank you very much! I have been searching for this for a long time. The subtitles are so useful. Do you have the full version (with the second stanza included)?

    Thanks again.

  • PURE

    really rocking go ahead

  • Pls correct me if I m wrong:

I read that this Devi was originally a Yakhshi and later elevated as a Shakti Rupa

when Saivaism became prominent & with story of what her title suggests: Mahishashuramardini-buffalo demon slayer who was granted all heavenly weapons for that task.

    Sarva Mangalam

  • in hinduism, the concept of shakti represents energy..infinite, uncontrolled pure energy. this concept was always there, much before than puranic stories, it was in vedas. So shakti rupa must be before than yashi.hinduism later on devided into three parts..shaiva, vaishnav and shaakt.shaact sect consider shakti not only as the energy of god, but it consider God as energy. shaiva n vaishna see shakti as a part of god. so shakti is linked to shiva n vishnu.

    jai maa.

  • Very Well done. Good wishes to you all.

    Ohm Shakti

    M.K.D.

  • Second Stanza is Missing!!!!

  • I know few stanzas are missing, but it was like this in the audio track. I did not edit it. I am planning to upload full version in near future in 2 parts because of 10 minutes limitation per video.

    Apologies for inconvenience.

  • it is better that this stotram is incomplete as it is so sacred that it should not be recited and heard, without taking proper bath and cautions...but agin it is a strotram for shakti.so even this incomplete strotram can do miracles.

    jai ma

  • thank you very much for the subtitles

  • thank for the subtitle.......thanks

    Fabulous

  • JAI JAGDAMBEY DURGA

  • Awesome!!!!!! Divine Spiritual Experience!!!!!

  • very nice.. thanks for the subtitles too.
