  • why are the shafts always so narrow?! do you really expect to kill something with that? that think is not heav enough to kill a rabbit much less a deer. the width should be at least 3 inches. if you want to increase the power moddify the spear to fit an atlatl. you know nothing about what it takes to kill something with a spear.

  • hope you guys know you dont need to harden it before you sharpen i do stuff like this all the time

  • how do you not sharpen a spear

  • you only said a jabbing spear could the same spear as you made be used decently as a throwing spear aswell

  • it's interesting that everyone uses wood with a bunch of knots in it, I easily find fairly clean ash and willow everywhere's, why can't they find it?

  • sharpen first then harden in fire no need to fire it before you carve unless you want it to be HARDER to carve the wood...lol

  • @moofasa1211 if you harden the wood after sharpening the tip would be to brittle because it would be charcoal. the reason you sharpen after is to ermove the ash and burnt wood. the wood under neath is hard but its actually easier to sharpen the hard wood. trust me i know.

  • Ugh... I shuddered at the word "primative"..... dont use that word...

  • cool spear

  • It's an awesome video I can't wait to make one

  • Seems pretty fun....great vid...:)

  • i could blow your mind with the stuff i can make with just a knife out in the woods

  • how long do you think it would take to complete this proses

  • i make things like this all the time but why the hell did you make it so dull? that makes no since at all????????

  • "Shave it off with your knife"

"So you can get down to the actual wood"

"So you can harden it and make it into an actual tip"

"I''l show you the next step"

"Were reheating it and doing the exact same all over again"

    That's what she said.

  • fag

  • can it be any type of wood????

  • hold i read your description why would you need to ask permission to start a fire?

  • cool

  • thanks!

  • It works that way too but i prefer letting the campfire burn down and leaves red glowing embers. You wont risk that the spear would catch fire that way.

  • u hav such an irish tone to ur voice ha

  • damn my video is shit compared to this...

  • Sure good to know but a small metal fish spear is way ot easy to carry in a day pack to worry about making primitive???

becareful also as some state consider spears a firearm and you need a permit to have one, carry one and to have one you must have fishing license at the least.

    donze52 films

  • i made 2 with two 1 or 2 foot sticks, tomorrow im making a longer one....wait...tomorrow is a school day >:( well i guess i found my next weekend project.

  • get a fatter branch not a stick make an obsidian tip flint knap a little bit and have and make a leather grip

  • great! now kill a bear with it!! odds are its just gonna break as soon as u try to stab it XD 0.o yeah i know u guys are just gonna go like (wow this guy thinks he's gonna try killing a bear!? what a dumbass) good thing you've heard of humour! cuz i was worried for a sec 0_0

anyways, good methode with the hardening but another good way is to try flint knapping and if uve got a nice chunk of rock thats big and sharp you should place it on a fire to harden and tie it to the end. perfect spear!!

  • Try to find a tree that is not dead and cut off a good long branch and cut off all bark (this keeps it from roting) and then cut on side sharp and burn it till its kinda black and then smooth it out on something and then leave it in dirt for one hour (this cool's it down) and then there you go.

  • 8 pronged bamboo spear is the best for fishing

  • agree.

  • a better way to harden it is to bury the end at an angle before you light you fire..when you do light it do so over the ground where the stick is buried leave it for an hour or so and you done

  • use a knife to split the wood from the bootem or top if your using a tree make a box shape and then curve it with a knife :D

use a rock or a hammer to spllit wodd so you get even cuts :D

  • i made one from a tree in that process but it took like 2 weeks to make caus it was a tree not a stick but it is super cool and bad as heack

  • i made a spear yesterday and axadentaly throw it at my friend and piierced the skin

  • Accidentally, eh?

  • hey, kakashi, you should make a video about making a survival bow

  • thanks im gonna ace the school survival in the bush test

  • yeah there realy gunna let you take a spear to school

  • cool, but what is the best wood to use?

  • maple or oak

  • thanks dude

  • cool. im gonna try this. what type tree did you take the stick from

  • ash

  • Can't you harden the whole thing too, or would that make it too brittle?

  • yes it would make it brittle

  • Hm, okay, thanks.

  • woot woot now i can ace survival!!!!

  • nice

  • cool 5/5!

  • im guessing if you want it to be sharp, you sharpen it before you heat it up?

  • sweet

  • this is really good, I should make one, I wouldn't use it tho :D

  • these skills will come in handy if you were in a spot were i was probly about a month ago
