What a fantastic story...I am sure you have heard that over and over. I am not a small dog person but Vinny Love would have made me love a smaller dog for sure. I have always gotten my pets from shelters or from friends that had litters. I would never consider buying an animal from some store or breeder. @adrianying You are 100% right - even if you cannot adopt, there are so many other ways to help homeless animals in shelters. Donating your time or money to rescues and shelters is an excellent way to help them.
i got a new puppy about a few days ago she is a lab collie mix she is about a 11 weeks now and her name is molly should i start training her now or what ???:)

I am inspired by your dedication! Thanks for sharing Vinny Love's story. I have a pug chijuajua rescue dog. He's amazing with me, cautious with people (for the first few minutes), and leery of other dogs. He was attacked in training class, and now is very leery. Any suggestions?
@AnnLaGoy1 If he has had a negative experience with other dogs, I would continue socializing him around other dogs in a calm setting. Make sure the other dogs are calm and balanced dogs that you know. If you keep him away from other dogs, it may cause him to be even more fearful. Good luck!
@ShelterMuttLover Thanks so much! I have continued to bring him around other dogs, and give him positive reenforcement. It does seem to be making a difference. He's getting better and better with people, too. In fact, Sunday we attended the Animal Rights Day in NYC, and Frank made it into the NY Daily News! His first day in the big city.

If this is your first dog, I highly suggest you adopt from a local rescue organization - If you tell the rescue what type of dog you are looking for, they should be able to set your family up with several potential dogs. If you want to adopt directly from a shelter, take a dog trainer with you OR go to a small shelter where volunteers/staff are knowledgeable about their animals. Good luck !!

I love that you tell everyone about Vinny's dog-dog aggression and that he was able to overcome it - I think many people believe that any aggression issues are impossible to fix and Vinny Love proves that isn't so!
I posted your video on my Facebook page. Our organization just rescued 4 dogs today from the kill list at the local pound. It's quite rewarding to help these furry guys have a wonderful life with loving people that care.
i've never adopted a shelter dog but i have had a stray and a rescue. both were easily some of the best dogs i've ever owned. one was a stray lab to old to even play fetch but she was loyal and followed us every where. the second was a schipperke rescued by my grandparents from a friend of theirs who was in over their heads. at first he was horrible but before long he was all hugs, kisses and my biggest baby.
Im not allowed to have more than 2 dogs, but when I get the chance I always go to the shelter and play with the dogs. What really bugs me the most about some people is that they want a purebred, and some people think mutts are dirty dogs. Vinny Love has a really good story, I hope to see him on T.V. someday :D
@mshobohorse Thank you for volunteering your time at the shelter! Shelters have plenty of purebred dogs, but I personally like mutts the best. Mutts may be "mutts", but their hearts are *PURE*!

I walk the dogs of our animal shelter here in Bonn voluntary. Our shelter rescues dogs from countries, where the dogs are killed after some weeks.
The part of the dogs, who are friendly is always bigger than the percentage of dogs, who have aggression issues. Even terrible mistreated street dogs from Rumania can be still friendly towards humans by nature without any training. But everyone of them need of course a little training for some basic manners.
@megatwingo So nice to meet another compassionate dog lover. Thank you for volunteering at your animal shelter! I've also found that many animals labeled "aggressive" act completely different once they are out of a shelter environment. And you are 100% correct, all dogs need training. But, it is the responsibility of their guardians to dedicate their time & effort into training their canine pals.

You are doing more good than you know!!! Keep doing what you're doing, and think about making Vinnie's story a book -- you could donate a portion of the proceeds to a good animal rescue cause ---- most importantly though, you're really an inspiration. You bring hope to to many -- again, keep it up and huge thank you!

Out of all the videos I've seen this one is the most like my dogs story. It is so heart warming to know there are others in the world giving dogs a chance even though everyone else has given up on them. My dog Cerberus is doing so well. I loved this video!! What a beautiful dog.I think the most wonderful pets can be found in a shelter, and when you found Vinnie Love, you found a dog, that most likely was mistreated, thanks to your patience and love, he turned out to be a very well mannered family pet. I love that you tell everyone about Vinny's dog-dog aggression and that he was able to overcome it - I think many people believe that any aggression issues are impossible to fix and Vinny Love proves that isn't so!

i've never adopted a shelter dog but i have had a stray and a rescue. both were easily some of the best dogs i've ever owned. one was a stray lab to old to even play fetch but she was loyal and followed us every where. the second was a schipperke rescued by my grandparents from a friend of theirs who was in over their heads. at first he was horrible but before long he was all hugs, kisses and my biggest baby.

Im not allowed to have more than 2 dogs, but when I get the chance I always go to the shelter and play with the dogs. What really bugs me the most about some people is that they want a purebred, and some people think mutts are dirty dogs. Vinny Love has a really good story, I hope to see him on T.V. someday :D

I walk the dogs of our animal shelter here in Bonn voluntary. Our shelter rescues dogs from countries, where the dogs are killed after some weeks.
The part of the dogs, who are friendly is always bigger than the percentage of dogs, who have aggression issues. Even terrible mistreated street dogs from Rumania can be still friendly towards humans by nature without any training. But everyone of them need of course a little training for some basic manners.

I've also found that many animals labeled "aggressive" act completely different once they are out of a shelter environment. And you are 100% correct, all dogs need training. But, it is the responsibility of their guardians to dedicate their time & effort into training their canine pals.

so inspiring! we are in process of looking at shelter dogs. where did you learn to train dogs? did you have a lot of experience previously? this will be our first. neither of us has trained a dog before. we want to do right by the dog. any good resources?

Loved Vinny's story. Terrific work you are doing with him, on a number of levels. I admire your dedication! What were the first few commands you taught Vinny and did you teach him a combination during each session or focus on one or two?

@Supertramptageous Thank you so much for your kind words & support. The first few commands I taught Vinny were the basics - sit, down, stay, heel. I taught him 1-2 commands at a time, in several sessions throughout the day.

Out of all the videos I've seen this one is the most like my dogs story. It is so heart warming to know there are others in the world giving dogs a chance even though everyone else has given up on them. My dog Cerberus is doing so well. No one can believe his story when I tell it. The video I made was meant to inspire others to give rescues a chance and your video does the same... Well done!!!
