Oh wow I've never heard of Sharda before. I like this song. Admittedly the first time I heard this song on the radio years ago I thought the singer was Madam Noor Jehan cos' there's definitely something similar in her voice.

Shankar-Jaikishan Ji knew how to perfectly use Sharda Ji's special voice and often, did so to our enjoyment. Too bad many times the heroines at that time (who were otherwise great), weren't exactly teenagers.

Otherwise beautiful Vyajayantimala does not look so because of Sharda's voice which is expressive but does not suit the heroine. Beautiful heroines need equally beautiful voice. Lata & Asha had that beauty in the voice which makes the heroine look pretty. The actress is forced to make the lip movements as per the voice modulations which were great for these two singers & they had major contribution for the beauty of the actress on screen. Audience understood it and composers knew it always.
