No country in the world allows a person to just enter without a specific process. But when you have people undermining that process to enter a country they are entering illegally. And so a person entering illegally should not expect to have that country's bill of rights protecting them. It's like forgiving a purse snatcher because he needed a bite to eat and then afterwords asking the same woman for more money. It's sad, but that's life. That Arizona law would set a very dangerous precedent.

Also you have to have committed an offence for you to be asked for proof of citizenship and the officer has to have reasonable doubt you are not a legal citizen. Just the same as you being asked for your ID you are trying to make it seem as though officers can under this law just ask anyone to produce papers at any time and that is just not the case.

I must respectfully disagree with We are change on this. You already have to carry your "papers" in the form of your identification. There is nothing wrong with proving you are a legal American and most are happy to do so. We are not handing over any rights on this issue. Not only that but the "powers that be" are against the law also. I find it disturbing that We are change is aligning with the government on this issue.

I love when people say "the constitution is not for illegals". Who gave government power that's outside the constitution? That's what I want to know. I know I didn't and I know that "we the people" didn't. If it where true then this would mean that government has power that has not been written down and granted by 'we the people'. @JohnLloydScharf - SB1070 does nothing to secure the border. The Border is still wide open. All it does make sure that everyone takes the 'mark of the beast'. 'Illegals' will become 'legal' through amnesty and acquire their 'papers'. Once the 'aliens' and 'drug cartels' have their papers and are paying their taxes, I suppose you will be happy. Meanwhile, there will be many more cross the border and continuing. Shouldn't you advocate for a secure border rather than real ID? Just wondering?

@CTastic1 - it also protects the congress from facing any punishment when they pass unconstitutional or bad laws, and on top of that, they didn't even lay out how to make up the Judicial branch, leaving that to congress, allowing them to create a branch of government with NO checks and balances and a monopoly on interpretting the CONstitution. The legislature makes laws, the executive branch enforces them (And makes laws through executive orders), and the judicial branch upholds the laws as CONstitutional (and makes laws through judicial activism). I agree with you 99.99%. But, I feel a person entering the US should have a passport. I enter Colombia all the time simply on a passport. To them, a passport tells them that I am not "wanted" by the US government, so it is likely that I'm not a criminal. For a Colombian to recieve a passport, they need to prove that they are not wanted. The whole problem w/the US system is the visa requirement. Beyond that, let people come/go as they pls. And if we cut the handouts, they won't come.
