  • like others have said you can use a flyback to charge the circuit faster. you can use a relay rated for 400v which is simple and effective. also you will likely want to ditch that coil if you are going to increase the number of capacitors since you would be wasting energy through heat using what looks like 20ish gauge.

  • @mashersmasher

that was one of many different test coils I made to experiment with different winding patters and number of wires to use, so I can get as much power as possible when I make the coil for the actual gun. that coil had 3 wires in paralel to get the highest current flow.

  • try 450v boost converter . its simple and fast.

  • I don't even know what a coil gun is....but good luck?

P.s How is that beautiful tarantula of yours?

  • @Meiklelodians

a coil gun fires a projectile just like any firearm, but it uses a magnetic field (electromagnet) to propel the bullet...instead of gunpowder.

other than finding out my rosehair is a male, my tarantula is fine. thx,

  • Hi, sory for my bad english.

For fast capacitor charging u can use a flayback converter or push-pull.

You can find some shemes in google, just write "IR2153" or "UC3845" this is the chips for simply charging circuits.

Next. You can know you current if you know a resistens of you coil. Ucapacitor/Rcoil=Current.

  • @VladAxon

    cool...thanks
