Love this song! I first discovered Fred when I was a teenager, and our local library had an album of his really early stuff that he did when he was on Broadway with his sister. This was my favorite song from the whole album. I wonder how many time I checked that record out?! Thanks for posting this.
This is terribly striking. Women and sexuality, women with guns, women looking intelligent in the workplace, out on the town, and even "vogueing". Truely everything that was old becomes new again. Great video!
Love The Video, Love The Beautiful Music, And LOVE The Sweet Little 1926/27 Whippit.(or at lest i think it`s a wippit!)I can`t say enough great things about the 1920s and early 30s I was born way too late.
Was this the video for which you needed the photos? If so, it looks like you found all you needed. It's terrific. I especially liked, what I'm assuming, was the magazine cover illustration for 'Bernice Bobs her Hair." Maybe it wasn't, but I still like it!
A wonderful selection of music and images. The music is by Mr. Astaire and Van Phillips. Lyrics are by Desmond Carter, who also wrote "I'm On a See Saw," "The Wind in The Willows" and "I Took My Harp to a Party." Astaire recorded two other Carter songs: "My Temptation" and "I'd Rather Charleston."

Great record. Those late 1920s Columbia's had such wonderful balance and deep bass.

Great visuals on this video. I do believe I recognized at least one Ernest Bellocq photo.
Cheers!
