Not to be rude or anything but whoever is playing the main beat on the marimba is using the wrong gripping. That's the grip your supposed to use when playing the vibes not the marimba. For the marimba your second mallet is supposed to be held with your pinky finger.
@Drummersrock7 The grip you're using in this video is Burton grip, where the two mallets are crossed and in contact. In the Stevens grip, the outside mallet is held between your middle and ring finger and the two mallets are not in contact. It's true that the Stevens grip is more popular on marimba and the Burton grip is more popular on vibraphone but i'd say either works on either instrument as long as you can play well
@Tehhannah13 I must say, what you just said is total rubbish! Lets say you play snare drum in match grip and I said to you "you're doing it wrong match grip is only for playing drum kit, you need to use traditional grip" you would think that is rubbish.
It is the same on marimba. It is players preference what they use. Yes, both grips have their downsides but there is always a way around it. When I Studied with Stevens he said there is no wrong grip for playing the marimba.
@Tehhannah13 Also you are using Stevens grip wrong if you are holding the mallet with your little finger. Read the book, "method of movement" this is an indepth guide to using Stevens grip.
sorry to say this but singing is not your forte but good job otherwise
