  • When I first heard this song...I was about 12 years old. Now at 55 years young, when I listen to it , makes me shed tears as the memories of this song and my childhood sweetheart (may she rest in peace) come back to the present. This is truly my all time favorite song. God bless you Eddie Holman and thank you for the memories.

  • @incognio2012 Man, we are the same age and I am grateful this was our era of music as tough as it is to listen knowing that the sound, talent and memories are gone for ever.

  • @Pinktowers BUT U CAN HIT THE LIKE BUTTON A MILLON TIME =]

  • 21 people are lonely girls.

  • Very good singer

  • Just a note: In my previous comment I originally typed actual dollar signs at the end of the comment. I discovered that youtube (apparently) doesn't let you put actual dollar signs in a comment. I guess they assume you might be trying to sell something through a youtube comment. (Pretty silly!)

  • Too cool: someone from England ('chwelsh') commented on this (4 comments below this one). I know music is a universal language and goes all around the world, but it's still nice to be in America reading a comment here from someone in England. To translate what chwelsh said into 'American': "If I could bottle and sell the feelings it gave me: dollar sign dollar sign dollar sign, etc."

  • RED LIST BLUE LIST YELLOW LIST DEATH FEMA GOOLOGS CAMPS WAKE UP RED ALERT LITTLE A COOL GHOST!

  • The Pittsburgh Soul are the background singers!

  • Wow! Love it!!! Thats all I need to say

  • Wow!

    What a voice!

  • like a fine wine, eddie holman gets better with age

  • @sampson1959 Exactly what I've said about most of those artists and vocal groups that have appeared on the PBS Doo Wop, 60s and 70s concerts. Their voices are like a a fine wine, yes, but also like a fine musical instrument that just gets better with age. Let's see how many of today's artists can do this 30, 40 years from now.

  • Luv this song and im 14

  • how good is this

  • 17 viewers grew up after the '60s

  • remember this being played at school discos ..sheer brilliance ...magic...great , legendary...

  • Why can't we have soul music like this being made today?

  • eddie still hits every note superbly!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Just saw him three hours ago on PBS in Pittsburgh. I can't believe it, he still sounds just as great as when he was young. Superb job Eddie!

  • man is this priceless ....... too good

  • @Foobishay Very true! You said "man is this priceless." We could also say "this man is priceless" too. For someone with such an incredible singing talent it's amazing how nice & humble he is! It's great.

  • 17 people have hearing problems, have not got a human heart, and accidentally pressed the wrong button!!! :)

  • This guy is a music machine! God bless.

  • This song breaks me up everytime I hear. Winter, 1970 things weren't going to well in my 8th grade life and listening to this song seemed to compound the desparation. Unfortunately, things really never have gone well in my life since then.

  • @chuckbuckbobuck So sorry 2 hear that. I wish u very well. I believe we all have the same heavenly Father so we r all a part of the brotherhood of mankind. Even as a grownup u r a child of the universe as much as anyone else. I also believe the book of John 3:16 that says our heavenly father loved us so that he sent someone to show us the way & the truth- for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so whoever believes would have everlasting life.U are loved.

  • It's Herman Cain! He is really good.

  • wow

  • Very good falsetto voice..

  • Had the original 45rpm single waaay back in the 70s.. Loved it then.. Love it now.. Not many modern singers could pull this song off.. Eddie is a SUPERSTAR!!! Can't believe he isn't more widely played.. The yoof of today are missing out on a real talent..

  • That was an awesome performance. If anything it's better than the record itself, and that was brilliant. This looks like a relatively recent performance, anyone able to give details of when and where this took place?

  • this world would be nothing without SOUL music...

    and that is SOUL MUSIC....

    unbelievable.....

    yes to Eddie

  • eat your heart out Luther....that's all I can say....this guy should

be on the radio today...what a waste of talent....he is the greatest..

one of the greatest songs every recorded...

God bless Eddie Holman for singing that song....the world is

    a better place for it...

  • WOW! WOW! WOW! Just remembered this song after watching( for those in the UK) an episode of "Benidorm" the comedy series on TV. I wonder how this would have rated on X-Factor. I think it's on another planet compared with some of the tripe today.

  • Cant get enough of this song. This music has so much meaning and love while our music now is worse then Garbage

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • the 16 people that dont like this proformance dont have any taste or class. He still has his voice as when recorded. WOW! 50's, 60's and 70's music blows new music out the water. I love it!!!!!! Beautiful classic .

  • THIS IS YET ANOTHER SONG I HAD, AS ONE OF MY FIRST SINGLES AND ALSO ON OTHER ALBUMS OF THE SAME TYPE OF MUSIC. I STILL LUV IT TO BITS, AS IT BRINGS BACK MANY MEMORIES OF MY MUM & I.

  • True Music :D

  • WOW he nailed it !!! Now here is a singer who should be judging American Idol

  • Absolutely electrifying performance!!! Like this more than the studio version. Just plain awesome!!

  • Eddie Holman is giving me goosebumps. No auto tune for these singers. This song was a hit in 1970 and the man is still singing the hell out of it. Take a look young singers. Learn your craft, melody first.

  • not to be racist, and i am white, but all of the black people in the audience look really into it and the white people look soooo nerdy... lol ...

It makes me think that to most black people this song probably meant more because blacks did not have a chance to be in the spotlight as much and I can imagine the pride and happiness they must have felt when they knew that this person could be heard and could be successful... the look on their faces is just different...

  • @sjtherage You are generalizing and over-analyzing.

  • OMG he's still brilliant considering this was brought out in the 70's...............you go Eddie xxx

  • This song is Class!

  • loving the back up singers!!! can't you tell by looking at the faces in the audience what great memories they had during that era?

  • omg now that 's c;assic !!! he still sounds good i remember this song when i was a lil girl and it was always being played on the radio nothing like a black man's falsetto voice they can't be imitated!!!

  • How many artists sound this good live...and after all those years??

None...I have never heard anyone sound like Eddie in this. He is magnificent!!!

  • AWESOME !!!!!!

  • OUTSTANDING

  • Oh My Lord, I cannot believe how OUTTA THE PARK Eddie still hits this song. WOW !!!

  • Every girl know's this? xxxxx

  • .....777 you're a dyslexic prick....don't flaunt your weaknesses

  • @blencathra11 Actually, Dyslexia is a mental disorder in which the effected individual cannot determine what simple sentences mean, or cannot read at all. I can clearly see that 777 is simply using slang speech, and is clearly not dyslexic. Maybe you should watch what you say so you don't sound like an ignorant ass. And calling out others weaknesses? that's a weakness in it's own.

  • fantastic, what else can be said

  • this be that gangster LA LONELYS SONG N dont holla at her cuz she busy doin drive byz n home invazions so ya n dont u say its not her song cuz she will mash on u. La Lonely eLMa doNt plaY foLKz....

  • @tLoCz777 wtf wow beaner

  • This guy is as good as he has ever been. Not to many singers can hit the key he sings in. Almost all the artists with this range lose it.

  • Love this song, they used to play it at my school disco, still brings tears to my eyes!

  • Tell me a better singer surely there isnt what a voice live aswell id pay money no prob to see a performance like that brilliant song back in the day and even so now means alot to me personally i remember it like yesterday awesome voice

  • Ahhhh.. this is "our song"!!!

  • aaaaawwwww i already know where i heard it, in the movie nothing to lose a security guard dances to it!!!!

  • i don't know where i heard it but this evening i was just playing a videogame and the song just popped up in my head... maybe will smith singing it on a movie? i dont know...

  • Never once tired of hearing it, over and over, from the very first time WAY back in 1970. And so nice to hear Eddie sound so great today . He left'em all behind, truly.
