stupid t-mobile muppets, i moved from the UK to Germany and wanted to unlock my phone to put a German SIM-card in. Called T-mobile and it turned out unlocking the phone costs 15 pounds. Plus because I've moved from a contract to pay-as-you-go 6 weeks ago I will have to wait 6 more weeks to be able to unlock it. D'oh, it's a 4 year old phone and I've been a T-mobile customer for all this time! But i get treated like shit. Never T-mobile again.

to be honest i regret getting my g1.

it does little stupid things which does my head in and it makes all the difference. it puts random bullet points in all my texts at all times for no reason, it wont let me download anything as its put a child lock on even though im 18, it takes an age (exageration, more like 5 seconds, but still) to load my messages or other screens. i wouldnt believe the hype about this phone, i did and i now regret it.

Easy, I just did it, call tmobile and order the data plan, create a Gmail account on your computer. Then log onto Gmail on the G1 with your new data plan. Once it's done logging, you will be able to use your phone, call tmobile tell them you dont want the Data plan anymore (they will try and convince you not to, just say no). Then they will charge you $1 for the days data plan usage (not the whole $30 for the month). Once the data plan is off, your phone will work without data plan! Goodluck
