  • Thanks for your time with this Chernmax!

  • Just wanted to say thanks Chernmax for posting this video. Saved me the headache of trying to figure it out without destroying my glove box!

Holypolygon- thanks for the heads up. There is actually 2 arrows on the OEM filter- 1 pointing up for correct position and the 2nd pointing down for air flow.

    Thanks again Gents!

  • Hey Chernmax, Just came on to say you got the Airflow arrow wrong. The Airflow arrow must be downwards not up.The Air flow is from Up(front outside vent) to Down into the blower. Just a tiny correction.

    Peace

  • @holypolygon This is what I have posted in the writeup section for the Video: Note: If using a factory Nissan air filter, the direction of the arrow is up. If using an aftermarket filter, the direction of the air is down.

  • Chernmax has the sickest 6th gen ive ever seen, and im not to wild about them

  • Magical.

  • Does this work the same for a 2002 Nissan Maxima? Thank you.

  • @hecaresforyou If it's not in your owners manual I'd say no! I'll send you a link to Nissan Maxima owners manuals...

  • @chernmax

    K&N dont make cabin filters? I own a 06 with 75K

  • @JBlade007 No not for the in cabin filter!

  • @JBlade007 not to my knowledge for the in cabin air filter. Nissan and Purolator do however...

  • IDK - "First thing you need to do is open the glove box and take your shit out" - dead ringer to my ears... great video - made the cabin air filter change much easier - thanks again!

  • nice video - is it me or does this guy talk EXACTLY like Kenny Powers?!

  • @TheSamarindo LMAO not sure if I talk exactly like him but god damn it if I don't use the same logic or just tell it like it is because it works best for shielding myself from dumbasses!!! Thanks for the props bro, you made my day!!!

  • Thanks! I got the purolator and it had a down arrow pointing down. Placed with words facing me and arrow pointing down. When I read your video description made me :) i placed it correctly

  • @Ikararua Great Job, glad to help!

  • Has anyone know if a 1995 maxima has cabin filter?

  • @premiertony not sure since I've only owned an 04. contact any Nissan Dealership service department and ask, cost for questions should be free!

  • thank you so much....i definitely want to start doing all the maintenance on my maxima...great video!

  • Thanks Chernmax I enjoy all your videos. After watching this I was able to change mine in a couple of minutes. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Please do more; changing plugs, oil, O2 sensors, etc.

  • Thank you whoever posted this

  • @janicerensch You're welcome, it was me! :-)

  • Hey chernmax, thanks for the instructional video. It was a piece of cake to do. Some other internet directions guided you to unplug an airbag sensor. This was so much easier. I have a 6-speed '04 and it was nothing to do. I also follow the mods that you do on cardomain. Maybe your next video can be how to do a transmission fluid flush and cleaning. Thanks again

  • The oil change station wanted to charge me 4x's more for doing it.

Thanks for taking the time to show a lady how to do it herself.

  • @HoolaHonoluluHoney with a user name like yours, it was a pleasure! :-)

  • thanks for the video... I was looking on how to easily replace my filter in 05 nissan altima and this one worked perfectly. and I was done in under 4 minutes!

Other sides says that you have to unscrew and remove the whole glove box....

  • chernmax thanks you. Thanks to you I can make the change in my 03 Altima. However; my 03 Maxima has no pins. Please help and offer suggestions.

    Thank again

    \The Red Beast is SMOOTH.

  • @bagrip You should hit up Maxima(dot)Org and join for free and ask in the 5th gen maxima section. My user name is the same there. Gook luck. Oh you may also get an answer over the phone by calling Nissan Customer service at your nearest local Nissan dealership. Sorry I wish I had a better answer... Good luck and thanks for the props :-)

  • Chernmax thank you. I can do my 03 Altima after your guidance. However; my 03 Maxima has no pins. Please offer suggestions on the 03 Maxima.

The Red Beast is SMOOTH. Thanks again.

  • thanks for the video. I was wondering how to do it myself

  • @whiteyondubs welcome :-)

  • thanks

  • You'll be thanking yourself at the cost saving verse what the Stealership charges, thanks for the feedback...

  • Thanks again, so a 2010 cabin filter will work in a 2009? Living in Canada has difficulties in ordering online to Canada.

  • Yes...

  • Thanks for your info, much appreciated, Where can a order a cabin air filter for my 09' Maxima? Dealer price is a total rip off.

  • Most major auto store chains will have a non factory compatible replacement.

I did a quick search in AutoZone(dot)com and came up with a replacement Air Filter - Cabin Part Number: CAF1792 for a 2010 Maxima. Google is your friend :-)

  • This video was really helpful.. I will try to change my cabin filter this weekend.

  • Does the 4th generation maxima have this too?

  • Sorry not sure...

  • No cabin air filter in the 4th gen. On the I30's they do, but didn't put it on the Max

  • Even though I am somewhat of a Shadetree Mechanic, it's your How-To Video that helped me out.....

    THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your Welcome :-)

  • Hey Chernamax i really appreciate your help and advice. do you have a blog page, or twitter page? where i can ask you questions i don't wanna to fill your youtube page with questions. lol

  • Join this site for free, my user name is chernmax there also and you can ask me and hundreds of others.questions about 6th gen Maxima: w w w(dot)Maxima(dot)org

  • thanks for the reply? does headers, back cat, mufflers increase or decrease gas mileage? what do u think of thrusher mufflers? can I upgrade muffler 1st and then headers?

  • Under normal driving you should get better gas mileage, but if you decide to continually punch it because the car will have bigger lungs and more go, you may see a decrease. Depends more on your driving. Have not heard of thrusher mufflers. But yes you can always upgrade mufflers first but it will be more of a looks upgrade so long as the Precats, cat, and B-pipe remain.

  • great post? hey I just traded my 99 max for 05 max se. how many exhaust manifolds are on the 05 and where can I find one and a good price?

  • Well we have 1 intake manifold, 2 exhaust Pre Cats, one Y-Pipe with the Cat, followed by a B-Pipe, then down to your mufflers. We still have a single exhaust system like a 99 Max, they just split it on the rear with a Y and added an extra muffler hence why 6th Gens have 2 mufflers.

  • chernmax, your instructions were dead on. Took me like 5x longer than you due to me having problems getting the glove door to slide down, but it was smooth sailing after that. To other Max owners, the filter was only $11 @ advance auto parts. Dealer kept insisting to install it @ $80 plus 1/2 FRT.

  • Glad to help now take your woman out to eat with the difference!!! :-)

  • Thanks. Have an '06 Maxima and your video was very helpful. Dealer wanted $150 to do it. I did it for $25 for the filter and it took 10 minutes.

  • LOL, I have a paypal account for the difference!!! :-) Overall, glad to help!!!

  • Thanks I have an 05 altima and it is the same set up your video helped me install my cabin air filter, great video

  • Glad to help!!!

  • very similar in the Murano - thanks for the video, it helped me out

  • Glad to help...

  • Anyone done a Versa? 2008? I popped the box out, but nothing looks quite like this. Please give me a shout out.

  • Chermax- thanks, very helpful! Iwas flummuxed until you showed the way.

One detail I discovered is that the filter arrow should be pointing DOWN. I checked the direction by turning the air blower on before I installed the new filter.

  • Agree, click on the information part about this video and I explain it there. But if using a Nissan OEM filter the arrow goes up and after making the VID I realized the difference and stuck it in the info section.

Glad the VID helped, I can't believe how much the Stealership's charge for this do it yourself task!!!

  • LMAO, glad to help!!!

  • What is the *in cabin air filter for?*

  • It filters the dirt, pollin, etc. out of the air you breath inside the cabin when the heat or A/C are on!!!

  • greate job

  • Glad to help, thanks for the feedback...

  • Thanks chernmax. I had a little trouble getting those tabs loose, but everything worked out fine; now I can breathe easier when I drive, plus it didn't cost me the $70 the dealership said the charge would be for replacement!
