  • One of my favorite FF songs for sure. Too bad Rinoa almost killed the game for me. HATEHATEHATE.

  • My favorite song out of all the final fantasy scores. Truly a master piece. :)

  • nah its like a wave of nostalgia comes over you and you have the need to play one of the old skoolin games like this one.... right now im doing just that, i had all levle 2 magic just before i entred the fire cavern and now even before im about to go into the second dream i have 100 demi's and water and curaga XD its cool what you can do with your GF's and moding.....and this my friends is why i like older games like the top comment said ...games are to mainstream and its all about online play

  • Perfect song to listen to while exploring a new world. I liked VIII, I found its story and characters so much more interesting compared to XIII's. There are still some glaring flaws in it, like the revelation of Ultimecia as the real villain. That just came out of nowhere with no real build up. Or the memory loss thing, that was pretty lame. And some of the more interesting characters, like Quistis, Ellone, Fujin [RAGE] or even Ultimecia herself, are so underdeveloped. Still, VIII > XIII

  • this is beautiful! I cried a lil!

  • final fantasy online....not the same :( fun to fight a boss with friends, but the story? the music..the characters...the internet isnt everything >.>

  • I dont get nostalgic just cos of the music. It brings me back memories of being a much younger kid, of things that happened at the age I played this games. I was absolutely careless and happy. It reminds me of school days, my old house, my pets at that time, things like that. Its not just the music of the game, it brings real life momories. Not fair blaming the newer games. The new games are fun. Its just that we grew older.

  • @DreamVikings my life has always sucked so it doesnt bring back good memories i just realize that before life like graphics and huge game engines they had to make good storys and music which made the games more like art

  • @DreamVikings nowadays its just the same tired old shit repackaged over and over again so they can make money

  • @DreamVikings it's not "we grew older". The games actually got worse with storytelling. I'm playing FF VIII and FF XIII simultaneously and VIII is much deeper and interesting. I haven't finished one of them yet. We need great storywriters in the video games industry again.

  • @SuddenChannel5 sad yeah, I couldn't play any of them to the end past FFX. good stories nearly ended with VIII. X as ok, (hate the english dub), but 12 was a draaaaaaaag, XIII has awsome graphics and I enjoy the gameplay but the characters are too superficial and the story is way too simple, it just doesn't catch on, I get bored and give up...

  • @DJBelbe What was so bad with ffxii? :), i thought it gave the player more of a choice about what to do...i'd love a ff where you made yer own character in an ff singel-player world, a little like skyrim, but with ff mythology, right?

  • @Chaar305 Skyrim is awsome but it's a completely different game. you get to BE the main character so it's ok if the game doesn't have a good drama. However, the great thing about Final Fantasy 7, 8 and to some extent 10, was that the characters and story were awsome! you just HAD to know who they were and what the hell was going on and the story had so many twists you couldn't possibly guess! even after the end you still got back to try and figure all the complicated loose ends ;)

  • @SuddenChannel5 yeah! still recall about the same time as FFVIII came out Outcast and I was sooooooooooo into it i played nonstop till I finished and my jaw droped with the final discoveries! I would never have guessed and I kept repeating to the screen: "coooooooooool!"

  • Dont be so fatalist. Games are as good as always, problem is we just grew.

  • I used to let Squall alone in those Final Fantasy 8 fields just to listen to this.

  • How many times i' ve played this music...

  • everytime i have nostalgia now its deppressing its sad that most people now dont care about good games or music too for that matter theyre pretty much blind nowadays and they dont even care

  • what killed music in video games really is sound quality. This is a holdover from the previous generation of 8-bit composers (Uematsu) but by this time, game music had already become much less innovative because sound quality allowed it to be less innovative. When all you have as a medium is 8-bit midi, the music has to be terribly interesting and compositionally clever to be enjoyable

  • @teganyavo Wow. Someone understands! Yes its true. You could be quirky , unique, and fun, because you had to be. Now people rely on very boring music with big sounds. Oh well . . .

  • Please put a download up!!!!

    I can't play (nor do i have a) piano

  • I have watched this video at least 20 times, and I just now noticed Fantasy is spelled wrong in the video, its spelled ''fanatsy'' lol

  • So beautifully played, the Piano Collection for FFVIII has to be one of the best soundtracks that I have listened to.

  • Whenever I get stressed , I just KILL the CAUSE , clean THE blood , and HEAR to THIS song ... is SO good , another REASON to KEEP loving JAPAN

  • man I love Final Fanatsy

  • love this song :)

anyone else notice it says 'FANATSY' on the picture? :P

  • jumm damm this song is vere good , wtf i say is a MASTERPICE!! is someone know about some tutorial of this song please let me know n__n thanks and ff 8 is for me the best game ever

  • love this song! it always makes me so relaxed :)

  • Where can I d/l this version?

  • Just wandering around the World Map only for listening to Blue Fields!

  • Pure Geniuss

  • Totally sounds like music from Nausicaa [Symphonio Poem (Nausicaa)] . I wonder if Nobuo is a Miyazaki fan or if he hangs out with Joe Hisaishi.

  • Can anyone tell me where I can find this picture? It's awesome...

  • I don't like the ost version of this song, this song on piano is waaay better XD

  • What the hell is final fanatsy? nice spelling

  • One reason why I play rpgs is for the music. FF has touched me in so many tender ways that it cannot be compared to other games' soundtracks.

  • Final FANATSY? XD

  • Exactly. I never much liked the original but on the Piano it sounds amazing.

  • I wanna play this game again so bad. Final Fantasy VIII rocked! However, i cant concentrate on both VIII and XIII at the same time

  • @CyberDarkKaiser ya i tried that doesnt work i like ffVIII more but i will finish XIII

  • @khami231234

    you got that right :)

  • This song always seemed to me like a lonely man seeing the majesty of world, with the people he (secretly) cares about, for the first time...

He seems even more lonely now.

  • Beautiful song~<3

  • this is the song i used to fall asleep to

  • Final Fantasy 8 is Art

  • I love final fanatsy ^^

  • Final Fanatsy pwnz

  • I'm so happy I can actually play this.

but am I the only person that's noticed the typo on the photo? :') amused me

  • rofl just noticed

  • sometimes we tend not to notice typos if the first and last characters are correct, and all other letters a present but shuffled.

  • @discodino letters are present

  • i'm sad that now i'm to old to play this games

  • Says who my friend :D. Just the other month i started up Xenogears, rebeat ff9, and shadowhearts. Never too old to play a good RPG. Good times. [Poor kids nowadays won't know the joy of a true 1-player rpg game]

  • Too true.

  • Dude I am so glad somebody else feels the same way I do.

  • It's too true my friend. What was once revolutionary is now an epidemic, and sucks out all the muse our beloved genre once shared with us all. And that's Online Gaming. No more epic music, no more tantalizing storylines that make you want to stay, no more dynamic characters who you feel emotions for throughout their journeys. As soon as Video games hit the mainstream, is the day my love for gaming began to dwindle... ok i lie i play a lot, but still :D.

  • No worries man i totally understand you. I myself do not play much anymore but i will get back into gaming as i used to. I do look forward to FFXIII though.

  • couldn't agree with you more dude.

  • ... Jeremy Soule

  • @SimpleFigment14

true for the most part, but have you played FF11? thats one of the few online games that actually cares about theme, atmosphere, music, etc.

  • @SimpleFigment14 You raise good points, but these games still exist. Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360 (whose soundtrack was also an Uematsu work) Had great characters, an amazing storyline, and events that brought a tear to my eye. I recommend it to anyone who was a fan of the original Final Fantasies.

  • @SimpleFigment14 Very well put, man.

  • @SimpleFigment14 Not all online games have no storyline. Ironically the one I have played with amazing storyline was Final Fantasy 11, and I'm pinning my hopes on Final Fantasy 14. FFXI had great music too, and nobuo is composing for FFXIV's music. And the beauty of online games is that the characters you bond with are people, rather than just NPC's. At least in ffxi it was like this. Not in WoW. WoW is a good game though, too. ^.^ Just not very storyline based.

  • @LordNaryuk have to admit, some people would probably be offended by you saying that wow isn't very storyline based (I'm not one of them). I think with games like wow, they leave their world's story less dominant so people can roleplay with their own stories.

though admitidly i never got into final fantasy 11 (mmo's are better when you have friends that play them :s ) so i don't know if it achieves this while still having a deep and complex story.

  • @SimpleFigment14 Just as I was inclined to agree you plunge your arguement down a hole... Competetive gaming is wondeful; Starcraft 2 has some excellent music (Terran in particular), and its single-player story is very strong. Considering things too 'mainstream' to be of your interest is not good. There's good and there's bad; not some magical time-line that divides them.

  • @SimpleFigment14 WoW is terrible, and killed console RPGs, but its music is still pretty incredible. These songs are just particularily emotional because of nostalgia.

  • @Bludcross

eh i dont know if ide go as far to say wow killed console. I think companies and game design teams sacrificing gameplay for graphics is what killed console. WoW has both, and like you said, good music. Updated regularly.

Also most wow gamers have a console, that is a guarentee. who the fuck doesn't have 360 or ps3 by now?? Besides poor people. Hell, even poor people buy their kids consoles lol.

When those gay ass overhyped COD games stop, ill start console up again.

  • @SimpleFigment14 You're so right, dude! I totally agree!

  • @SimpleFigment14

    Fuck, you read my mind.

  • Fuujin: LIES!!!

I am playing 8 right now. Well maybe not a lie, but assumption. (Part in brackets)

  • @SimpleFigment14 yea..all they have now is FF13..lol..which is not a bad game..it will just never be FF7,8,or 9

  • @Blizthedon

"yea..all they have now is FF13..lol..which is not a bad game..it will just never be FF 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,or 9 **fxd**"

  • your never to old my friend to enjoy such a classic of your past

  • i didnt see no age sticker on the box

  • Oh god Im sad now ;_;

I never wanted that game to end, the world just felt so huge to me

  • is there a music sheet for this somewhere?

  • lots of it

  • Final Fanatsy?

  • Es ist sehr toll!

  • hm hm lovely

  • Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius.

  • I luv listening to this when i go to bed it's soothing

  • i dont remember the name of the guy who writes the final fantasy songs but every one of his songs are better than almost any other game music

  • Nobuo Uematsu? :)

  • thank you

  • shame on you Nobuo it's the legend!!! )))

  • Wow, it sounds kinda jazzy like this. I like it.

  • Uematsu is really good composer...he makes just all song`s with feeling and so comes best ideas about whatever....

  • Even though I like FFVII the best I still like FFVIII second best.

  • sounded a bit like age of empires at first

  • This is by far my favorite arranged Final Fantasy piece. It just goes to show that a lack of fanfare or bombast really can go a very long way.

  • Whenever I get stressed, I just get this song in my head. Everything clears up and I can think straight once more. Uematsu is, indeed, a master composer, and I would love to shake his hand one day.

  • same here testo...same here..

  • @Testocules My friend... wouldn't all of us...?

  • @Testocules True. Mr.Uematsu is the best imo.

  • @Testocules I think him and Koji Kondo should team up for the ultimate Final Fantasy and Zelda score!

  • Favorite FF8 song on piano
