  • She's too young for this kind of vocal music...

  • It would be nice if her name appeared somewhere. And age.

    Great presence, excellent voice.

  • she reminds me of jackie evancho try out for americas got talent!

  • I have to sing this very soon good i hope can learn something from this girl it's amazing D:

  • I agree with maestro and sabbi696. Awesome potential, but I advise this girl to try sth else than opera, at 12. I'm talking for a similar experience I had at this age.

  • she sings the wrong lyrics... throughout the aria....

  • Amazing for 12, but not meant for Verdi just yet ;) Give it till your in your late teens like me haha

  • incredible!

  • Amazing! Brava!

    Keep going girl. Best wishes.

  • Sinsof tand Rosynight do not know what they are talking about once again I am saddened by reading comments from ignorant people about singing. No not everyone is a soprano at 12!

If this girl keeps singing like this she will be fine. Excellent technique.

This girls teachers are training her well and choosing the right rep.

II have been teaching voice for over 20 years on the University level and work with ENT doctors to rehab voiced not well trained like this soprano.

  • Very good and responsible singing. Every comparison to singers like Charlotte Church is absolutely misguided and misplaced. Far more justified are references to recordings of a 12-year old Beverly Sills. This girl is obviously being well-trained and in control of her voice and -more important- her breathing.

  • I completely disagree with all the remarks about this girl ruining her voice. Voices are not ruined by yes or no singing opera; it is about HOW you sing opera:

This girl just uses a natural free girl sound, which is well supported by the breathing. Never pumped up, why should this ruin a voice? Like sports at a young age: it doesn't ruin a young body, as long as it is done properly and intelligently.

Way to go Kate! You sound wonderful and even at 12 know how to use your voice properly!

  • Very true. At such a young age, shes going to have some serious vocal problems in the future because of this irresponsible, ignorant use of her undeveloped voice. Still, shes very gifted, but very young singers should look at what happened to Charlotte Church...same situation.

  • She really shouldn't sing opera at such a young age... Everyone is soprano at 12 years old! She could risk ruining her beautiful voice

  • You are WONDERFUL!

  • The orchestra sounds so bad.....:(

  • A brilliant and exciting performance. I replayed the video with shut eyes so that total focus was on the voice...and I was even more impressed the 2nd time around. This soprano has a future in opera....and seemingly has a teacher grounded in the grand tradition. Unlike some other posters, I don't find her upper register tense. And as for singing Verdi at 12 or 13, what about Patti, Sills, Talley, Galvany, de Hidalgo, Arral....?

  • I couldn't have said this better myself. This is a wonderful voice and the technique the singer is learning is in the grand tradition. Thanks for such an intelligent comment.

  • And don't forget Anja Silja, who sang at 10 and still sings at 69 :)

  • @martello79 She had amazing teachers and came from a musical family :)

  • @classicalgal14 I don't doubt that :)

  • well done

  • Delia lo sa? It's Oscar please!

  • Very well done, especially for someone only 12!! Jeez. Watch out though that you don't conduct yourself as you sing. It's ok if you feel like moving your hands, they don't have to be dead at your sides the whole time, but to me it almost looked like you were conducting, which I found cute but I'm sure you didn't mean to and was doing it subconsciously to stay with the orchestra.

  • Fab. you are going to be very famous someday-but if you sing like this too often you will have no voice in a few years! be careful!

  • oh - and by the way: most of the people who have commented 'negatively' on this only have done so because you have such awesome potential!! they wouldn't have bothered if you didn't! so don't be discouraged :)

  • i have to agree with sabbi696. you have incredible potential but... don't try and sing like an adult when you're not one!! i mean that in the nicest way possible :) sing some 'younger' stuff, age appropriate, and wait for the big stuff for when your instrument has developed. Good luck :)

  • PHENOMENAL, charming, and very adorable! we hope for more of such lovely brilliance to come . . .

  • she is good, but she is over working her voice for her age

  • sounds good, but i agree with maestro as well. keep working on technique, leave this stuff alone for a few years and then come back to it with a mature voice. there's a lot of power there, but you have to cultivate it and be patient so you don't ruin it at a young age.

  • Definitely something going on here. I agree with maestro. Focus on becoming a fine adult artist and work on the things that will get you there.

  • Great voice and presence, at this age is truly amazing.

    but too many butts:

1.Shouldn't sing Verdi at this age

    2. Too many off-pitches notes

    3. Top register is way too tense

    solution:

1.stop singing Opera at this age

    2.improve your technique

and you will be on the top

  • amazing talent, brava!

  • She is amazing... Keep on learning and go to the university for a singing exam.

  • She is definitely going places-I am very jealous because at 17 I don't feel like I have half of her talent. I may have more maturity in my voice, but I don't know if I ever had that at 12. Brilliant.
