Good news, I got Sony Vegas Pro 8.0b to work, apparenly 8.0a had a bug they fixed and Ishould be able to limp through enough now to make a vid with it. We'll see! thanks for your support, Jill! Once I leave this thing we'll be closer to a collaboration!

I used to not have access in my stidy and my computer was for WORK ONLY. Well, those days are gone. and so is much of my WORK ETHIC! Nothing like agood vlog, espcially an epic. I use Vegas8, but no more than I would with WMM. Whoever charged you 450 dolars for taxes, even joint taxes are crminals. The bad thing with DSL is oether peole will think you're at the compter when you're not.

The taxman was an accountant "friend" lol, but we do have to file in 3 states, so that costs more. I got them all done yesterday but I need two more sets of numbers that I have to get at work today and from the pharmacy. DSL is our only choce at the moment, works great! And except for when I'm working I AM at the computer! lol

When I read your comment about doing a video and never posting it struck me as a really good idea. What has stopped me is I have never edited, WMM just stinks for me. Now I've learned to splice segments I realized how much a difference that makes in your view of making a video...

I made one vid with WMM but it took me forever and I have to convert all the movies from the camera first. I think the quality was crap. But people make some great movies with it. So I would tend to believe it was a case of "PICNIC" (Problem In Chair Not In Computer)!

I don't...I had same problem and it was not PICNIC! It frustrated me so much that I gave up and never learned to edit. I'm just now starting and really as frustrating as Vegas seems at first to me, I'm seeing the value of it...I try to do something first and if I get lost, if it wasn't for Caylyn (GreatGig1) walking me through stuff on Skype, I'm sure it would take me a lot longer. Apparently Pinnacle Studio is the same way, none of them are intuitive, which I suppose is why WMM is popular!

Well, I finally got Vegas Pro 8.0b to work last night and can hear the sound on my vids. That's the first hurdle. AND my taxes are electronically filed! WuHoo! I guess YT going down for maintenance is a curse and a blessing! Maybe tonight after work I can actually work on making some vids and posting them. Dare I wish too much? Thanks for your support, JR!

oh np. oops...I was just reminded that to fix a problem with my audio for WMM I had to get a codex patch. I did that before I started learning Vegas and now I'm wondering if I would have had the same audio problem!

I intend to watch the rest of this vlog series but if it's ok I'm skipping part 2 "Knitting." ;~}

LOL You Wuss! Can't handle a little knitting, eh? hehehehe I only talk about knitting at the beginning and show my progress, the second half is about somthing else, which for the life of me I can't remember what! ;-) Feel free to skip it! Parts 3 and 5 are my favorites!

I haven't watched the tutorials, but that is a great idea! I like what Vegas 8 can do, I just haven't been able to get it to do it for me! LOL The sound doesn't work on my vlogs in it. I guess there is a patch for it, but I can't get the patch to work. It will all work out in time... I hope ;-)

When you watch my part 4 or 5 you will see how easily distracted I get. I start doing s shout at and then never really get too it. It's like the t-shirt, "People say I have A.D.D., but I... Look, there's a chicken!" ;-)

That's the problem with having two 500 gig hard drives too. I would never make/keep this many videos if I had my old 40 gig. (LOL I remember when I upgraded to the HUGE 1.2 gig monster hard drive I bought back in '94)

I like the SD cards I carry a 2 and 1 gig. That gives me plenty if video and still footage for a day. I Try and keep it to 2 G a day. Makes it a lot easier when importing and editing. I stopped by our neighborhood eagles nest but the camera I have has limited zoom.

I finally just yesterday edited a clip in Sony Vegas. The trick is to have Vegas Studio Platinum 8 and not just the standard, also in the rendering settings. If someone didn't already know I would've never figured it out because like Trish I don't read instructions...or more correctly I read but don't understand them. I also have Pinnacle Studio and I think with both programs the trick is to have someone who knows them to tell you, then they're great. I can't do a thing in WMM, it crashes.

...sure I have the time but I have never used a Mac, not even once, maybe that's always been my problem! The programs operate the same on both I think.

I'll will say that I'm glad I tried both programs, when it comes to effects you can do different things with both...too bad I'm still not not into effects yet!

The version I tried was the Pro, so it should have been fine, but no sound on the vids. Little Rich (richw4) gave me some hints and I tried to add the patch to upgrade to 8.0b, but it won't work. I don't read instructions either, that's just the manufacturer's OPINION of how it should work! ;-) I may try Adobe next.

Well THAT'S my problem then, I should carry less media! The camera has a 30 gig hd and I also carry 1gig, 4gig and 8gig SD cards, but seldom use them.

Too bad you can't zoom in on that nest! Have you watched the eagle cam link I gave out lately? The 3 babies are growing fast, gray fuzzy eaglets now, too big for Belle to sit on! Did I mention the adult eagles are named Liberty and Belle?

My editing suite is Adobe Premiere Elements 3 and it is really ease, it must be because i REFUSE to read instruction manuals!

I would recommend it highly
