  • @henrik6754 agreed completely.

  • Patrick Swayze. -3

  • This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, it reduces me to tears every time I view it.

  • they forgot majel roddenberry

  • I disagree with the people saying that the audience shouldn't clap. The people being honored in the memoriam lived their lives to provide entertainment. They all deserve a round of applause for their performances. That being said I do believe the audience shouldn't discriminate with their clapping. If you clap for one you should clap for all.

  • Andy Hallet should have been on there. He was great on Angel and died way too young.

  • Bea Arthur!

  • Rather upset that they left Kim Manners from this list. He made as many [or more] great contributions to television as these other people did. RIP Kim.

  • omg they were all so great..........why are all the great and special celebrities leaving us? :(

  • Beatrice Arthur - we miss you very much... You are every Day my Golden Girl. ♥

  • So many greats left us in '09.

  • I didnt like the fact they missed the first 2 people on the vt. disrespectful.

  • This song always makes me cry, and seeing Farrah, Michael, Bea, Patrick, and many others who passed away that year, I need some tissues!

  • Does anybody has the "Emmy Awards 2004-In memoriam" show where actors/actresses like Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Katherine Hepburn was shown.....???

  • How great that they got Sarah......this is always the song used for memoriams

  • omg, I cried at this one more than any others. It's so sad that so many amazing people passed that year. I also personally think this song should be used for the memoriam EVERY YEAR, it's perfect, and Sarah's voice is perfection.

  • @TZEITEL10. . .they clapping to commend the people being rememberred. . .(those people already had a funeral) its time to remember them for those moments where they shone. . .just because a person has passed doesnt mean u cant clap for them, if anything, its showing respect!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Why do these idiotic and disrespectful audiences clap ,would they do that at a funeral?

  • @TZEITEL10 you clap in respect to performers. durh

  • @masterkayaki There are different ways of showing respect, some people obviously clap like trained seals.durh

  • What about Billy Mays...?

  • I love MJ..but come on alot of other people died too.

R.I.P. Farrah, Bea, Karl, James, Henry, Bill, Pat, Paul, Bernie, Dom, Dominick, Fred, Ron, Natasha, David, Michael, Ricardo, Ed...

  • @TwistedSister09 Michael Jackson was an international treasure...picture the backlash if he had not been included in the memoriam, regardless of the fact that he was more of a singer than an actor.

  • @Phillip101111 But he should not be treated better...

  • @TwistedSister09 He wasn't treated better. His memoriam wasn't longer than anyone else's.

  • This was the first time I've ever cried while watching an in memoriam. It's mainly because I was familiar with most of the people who dies as I grew up watching them on TV. And what's even sadder is that I will see more and more of them dying every year...The part that really tore my heart everythime I see this video is when it comes to Paul newman.

  • Some really big names died this year. The underrated Henry Gibson should have won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1975 for "Nashville".

  • where's Andy Hallett? aka ANGEL's Lorne? He should've made it.

  • Proves you can find anything on You Tube.

  • Who is the director? How do they think we could see the few at the beginning when the camera is focused on Sarah singing?

  • A lot of great people gone.. Fred Travolina, now that ws a shock! ...and, do you remember when they chose Robert Prosky to take over Michael Conrad's job at the precinct, {on Hill Street Blues}? ..could NOT have been a better choice! So many icons of the industry all in one year.. Karl Malden Paul Newman Dom DeLouise Dominic Dunne Irving R. Levine Bea Arthur Ed McMahon Army Archerd Larry Gelbart Michael Jackson Farrah Fawcett Walter Cronkite Memorable memoriam! Thank you Sarah~
  • Too many Wonderful actors & Entertainers .

They will all be Greatly Missed ..

  • Wow we lost a lot of big names in 2009! RIP

  • wow. gut rush at 4:18.....thinking about those you know who don't know how long they will live.

  • Thank you for uploading this gthvidsten - I've searched all night for this! Cheers

  • Eartha Kitt died in 2008. Wrong info.

  • @Firegirlable - Yeah, but she died after the 60th Emmy Awards so she, and a few others that died in 2008, were added in this one.

  • @Firegirlable She died after the 2008 emmys aired. That's why she wasn't included until 2009.

  • They should do it this way every year!

  • ty for posting ; thanks to the Emmy's for not forgetting Farrah

  • Stunning in memoriam segment. Really puts the Oscars to shame.

Anyone know where the second Patrick Swayze clip is from? At 3:10?

  • @Xyome His show The Beast

  • Stunning tribute - well done Sarah

  • To damnhappykaty...your comment shows your age. Come back and comment when you grow up. All those people who were honored made a contribution and gave smiles to the world. What have you done lately? By the way, i wonder if your intent was to get people riled up or if you really are that heartless? Very sad either way.

  • To damnhappykaty. The absolute ignorance of your comment totally overwhelmed me. Every life, no matter how long or short, deserves to be remembered. I would love to know what makes you think Michael Jackson deserves more of a tribute then say, your mother or father? Or any other person shown on that screen for that matter.

  • Mr. Bently Died?

  • Spoken like a true 10 year old --- you idiot

  • This is in response to damnhappy

  • Chill out dude! Be glad they didn't pull an Oscars and forget Michael, Farrah or Patrick!

Now THAT would have been bad!

Take a bottle of chill pills and be done with it!

  • Walter Cronkite was like a part of my family. he was just a few days older than my grandfather who passed away the same year Walter left the news. When he died even at my young age, i knew we lost a great man and a great era in news

  • This was broadcast before she died.

  • THat was one of the nicest In Memoriam Tribute I've ever seen. Well done to all.

  • patrick swayze -and eartha kitt- two of my favorite actors--and uncle walt cronkite--you guys will be missed--cronkite was the last of the true newscasters-we won't see his like again

  • aw; man; i can't believe it; patrick McGoohan will always be; to me; the title character in one of Walt Disney's series presentations:"ScareCrow;" as a do-gooder in disguise--which was broadcast on Disney "Wonderful World of Color" around 1963-64;when i was a child.

  • thank you for including MJ emmys! :*)

  • patrick swayze :'/

  • They left out soupy sales, vic mizzy, billy mays, and arnold stang

  • I think those happened after it aired...........

  • WOW! It almost pained me too watch this. America has lost so many significant and talented artists in 2009, because of that, this is by far, one of the MOST moving tributes!!!

  • Farrah :( ILY

  • I saw this on tv n i was tearing a lil wehn they showed MJ

  • This was very beautiful!! I cried when they showed Farrah. I LUV and miss her so much! I know shes happy and free of pain where she is.

  • Sarah Mclachlan is the most awesome person on this planet and this is beautiful. Thank you for posting this.

  • beautiful...

  • Sarah Mclachlan is so pretty. beautiful singer too.

  • ily bea arthur :]

  • Exactly. (Featuring star of the Buffy spin-off Angel.)

  • man why could Academy Awards memorian be this way? Elegant and powerful. Very good!

  • @trfreitaslivre I agree; The 2010 Academy Awards memoriam was the worst ever.

  • @trfreitaslivre I think you are right - they sure have stepped up and watched!

  • They Forgot Andy Hallett.Thats crap

  • Lost a great deal of legends this year

  • WHO WAS THE FIRST LADY?

  • Edie Adams. Very beautiful woman.

  • Michael Jackson I loooooove u!!!!! rip :((((

  • beautiful voice.

  • RIP to all we have lost, and what we will miss more is not how they left us, but how they enhanced our lives.

  • But so are these people i didnt know eartha kitt died well mj wasnt really part of tv history meaning he didnt do sitcoms

  • Earth kitt die on christmas day 08

  • yup she did, also my mother died the week before.

  • Sorry to hear that!!!

  • Robert Prosky, Henry Gibson, Paul Benedict, I had no idea that they passed away, Patrick Swayze, Farrah Fawcett, Walter Cronkite, M.J., and Bea Arthur those ones I did know about.

  • we will miss each and every one!!

  • good bye, cool hand Luke.... and thank you.

  • i dont think that was a live performance!!!

    watchathink?

  • Yeah was a live performance

  • You are missed, Michael! 2:56

  • They saved the 5 best for last

  • So many talented people lost this year R.I.P.

  • So many true talents lost this year: Cronkite, Newman (I didn't know he did tv too), Fawcett, MJ (don't care about him), but the saddest for me was Patrick Swayze. I'm sure the Oscars will remember him too.

  • Mj was important to

  • Where's John Hughes?

  • He was involved with movies, not TV. Wait until next year's Oscars.

  • Yeah; I guess you're right. I mean, they didn't show Les Paul or D.J. A.M. either. - being that they were involved with music. I guess that will come up in the next Grammys.

  • Michael Jackson, what a sad lost!!! long live to the king
