  • squeek squeek squeek squeek

  • Epic socks dood.

  • I can do this with fucking Fame pedals. Indeed, its really all about the drummer.

  • I don't care what people say, my foot is just too big for heel toe...I need some Axis Pedals Or Demon Drives or Trick Dominators for heel toe

  • Even ancient Premier pedals have an appetite for WD-40.

  • Hey I'm wondering like when you try to use heel toe do you wanna like intertwine them and stuff. Cause my trying to learn it but it feels really funny.

  • yeah that shit works wonders when you get to use triggers

  • tryed heel toe i cant even get it on a single pedal :(

  • My feet are too big to do double strokes.

  • why are so many people crying about an axis pedal? If he wanted to use that pedal he would, READ THE DESCRIPTION saying it doesn't matter what pedal you use to use this technique, and this is an example damn idiots.

  • i tryed doing this but my feet are too bug for the pedal:( im a size 12

  • hmmmm squeeky

  • So that's how people pedal so freaking fast on double bass wow I wish I knew earlier

  • should be using the axis ! :)

  • 1:15 reminds me of nyan cat.

  • @whophead007 cant get that out of my brain

  • what kind of douche rags on a bloke's rig? a fuckin big one......... i can't wait to go attempt this shit, sounds sweet dude big cheers from AUS

  • PLEASE READ THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION BEFORE POSTING COMMENTS!

  • Y U NO use axis pedals?

  • your bass drum has an interesting tone. it would sound sweet at a gig. i prefer 1 pillow in mine resting against the batter head. reso head a bit more than finger tight. batter about the same. i have gibraltar wooden beaters and they click like triggers with some sound guys. check my 299 gig vids for a clicky boomy bass drum.

  • fuck thats awesome .. i wish i had learnt that technique 9 years ago. i play just single stroke rolls for all my double playing. im actually gonna try and learn to play like you dude. thanks :D

  • how do you configure your pedals?

  • You're worried about the squeek on your Ludwig pedals? I bought a second hand pair of Eliminators and they squeek. Trying to pick up heel toe for myself. Ironically, my left foot can slide and my right foot can heel-toe but neither seems to be able to pick up the other technique.

On the bright side practicing both individually has sped up my single stroke heel-up timing so. Meh. =)

  • you're good but that bass drum looks like a bitch to play on, at least to me haha

  • At 00:46 did you say "gooder"? :')

  • I don't drum, but still i can say your talented and i liked it :p

  • how do you do the high hat ??

  • @natemeisterx It is mounted to the left kick drum with the pedal on the outside of the left kick pedal. Eventually will be a mounted cable hat,

  • What the fuvk is with those socks?

  • You know you use your gear when it squeeks. :D

  • nice socks.

  • just showed my brother this video and already I think you've cleared this technique up for him! Thanks a bunch!

  • squiky squiky squiky squiky quicky quicky quicky squicky squiky squiky squiky squiky quicky quicky quicky squicky

  • Silicon spray will make the pedals stop squeaking. :)

  • fantastic..

  • if only my drummer took the time to practice this shit instead of being a fag

  • I dig those EMAD 2's

  • is it right toe, left toe, right heel, left heel? or right toe, right heel, right toe, left heel?

  • is it right toe, left toe, right heel, left heel? or right toe, right heel, left toe, left heel?

  • why are you using those pedals when i see a pair of AXIS's in the background??!!! :L

  • @LearningDrummerSam Just to proove the technique can be done on any pedal if it's configured the right way :)

  • UhMMMMMM....

    Double stroke

  • wd40 that shit

  • i have a quick question. i use a double pedal as well and can do doubles with my right, but when i try with my left, even if i do practice, i cant get my left foot doing it. any suggestions to improve my left foot speed?

  • @MATTlovesDRUMS When I first discovered doubles I had problems with my left foot and it use to ache alot. Just takes practice, it will loosen up and strengthen over time. To practice speed, it is good to play to a metronome/click.

  • Could you do a video on triplets? I am struggling with heel-toe 6/8 doubles. Been practicing straight heel toe 6/8 as well as RRL and RLL. Any insight would be great : )

  • @alitte2hi i asked the same thing!!! they do triples?

  • @alitte2hi Yes dude, will post a triplet video soon :)

  • WD40

  • i love the evans emad

  • how long have you used double bass and how long did it take you to master it?

  • the problem with that tecnic is that you cant use it with shoes :S, i learned it perfect but because of that now im doing another one

  • @TheGaBoDrUm True, any sort of footwear can get in the way but it can be done with shoes on just gotta configure the pedals right.

  • Thumbs up!

  • without milk

  • Music with a double bass pedal is false! It is not true rock and roll like playing with two bass drams in one kit . It's like pianists or guitarists to add another one, the third hand on the neck or the shutter, anyway .Those guys are obviously frustrated with great traditional rock drummers Mitch Mitchel , Ginger Baker , John Bonnham , Ian Paice and ...DEFINITELY , A SHAME FOR ROCK

  • @narrat0r12 Everyone has their own opinions.

  • cool

  • wheres the oil?

  • Are you selling those Premier pedals????

  • @buthandwilson Yep. £100 in the UK only. Be cheaper to get it in the states for the retail price if ya from the states.

  • @jamesmetaldrummer i wish my feet we're smaller...everyone says foot size does'nt matter when it comes to this, but my size 13's just can't get this going!

  • my feet are to big on every pedal.

    fuck.

  • The squeak is the drum enjoying how hard you are hitting it ;)

  • was that god

  • this is impressive

  • here i see a pair of axis longboard double bass pedals and yet you use those -_- you boggle my mind.

  • so it's 2 left 2 right 2 left 2 right? A double stroke roll with the feet?

  • @TheOneChriss yes, but you dont use bounce, heel-toe on the left. heel-toe on the right

  • Just like to say thanks to all those who view my tutorials! Big Thanks guys! Glad you are finding it helpful! and keep laughing at the accent haha

  • Just like to say thanks to all those who view my tutorials! Big Thanks guys! Glad you are finding it helpful!

  • Wow -.- u sir are amazing

  • playing death metal in socks is hardcore like driving a tank in jus boxershorts or skateboarding down a huge hill with no shoes and no shirt,

  • jeez you must have tiny feet I you can do that my toes are up against the chain and I'm 13

  • totally sick ass bro

  • Ok, no one cares about the squeak or the head because of the fact that you are just "LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!" and then thrash the pedals. You actually know "marching percussion" basic warm ups. The best part about that......you're using your damn feet =O props to you

  • lol. i know what u mean. i have the sound percussion beginner pedals and i can faster and betteer than my friend who has dw 9000

  • For those who use a double pedal and for those who don't use Axis Pedals. This video prooves that it's not what pedals you use, but how you use them. you don't need the best gear in the world to play good. ignore the squeaking, the pedals are ancient Premier 6077s....very old... LIKE THIS

  • @rhinozzz94 Sometimes old gear is better. I once had the pleasure of playing with a drummer who had gear older than me and it was better!

  • @jamesmetaldrummer so agreed im 16 and my pedals are older than me the old model DW 5000 :)

  • @jamesmetaldrummer Yeah man! I had the fine pleasure of trying out some pedals that were older than me during a show a while back. (Thanks to Dave from AT WAR). Those pedals were far better than AXIS. They had to be 25 years old. Antiques! haha

  • @rhinozzz94 but Axis is a lot smoother, but i do agree, i have a '64 Ludwig 4 peice kit along with my Pearl and i love the Ludwig for jazz and blues its great so i do agree on that part but sometimes newer gear is smoother

  • bonham would be proud of that squeek.

  • my foot is fuckin size 12 ... I have to smash my toes just to do that -__-

    ... but I can ... painfully

  • you got Axis , but you use premier

-.-' how great are you of the scale of stupidity ?

  • @metallica6020 It prooves the technique can be done on any pedal.

  • Can a cheap pedal do the slide and the hell-toe technique?

  • @Creed109 The pedal I use is a £50 Millennium double kick from Thomann, and I can do both really easy. I'm about a size 10 foot though and when I started learning heel-toe my toes were up against the chain, but practise and you'll get it ;)

  • Is axis the best longboard pedal?

  • SQUEAK

  • MUCH BETTER IF U USE THOSE AXIS \m/

  • hey i got an 8 pice drum set and bought pearl double bass pedal, but with the highhat stand and snair stand it doesnt fit? any advice? or how to video?

  • @perry244 Not sure what you mean by this but if it's what I think is. I have my left hi hat (stand) attached to the left kick drum, it doesn't need legs to stay up. The snare legs should fit underneath the double pedal crossbar (shaft)... may need to lower it just abit to fit. If ya using one kick drum with the double pedal, it would be best to use a 3 or 2 leg hi hat stand and slot that in around the pedal.

  • @perry244 dude its gonna be a little differnt your gonna have to reach farther for your hi hat

  • exellent

  • I cant do this because my feet are to big.

  • @ProGamersDK They actually aren't, as you can do those technique with any size foot, pedal or shoe size... just move your foot back a bit more.

  • @CpliCity heels don't have to hit. Just the force from your heels or legs more or less. I can do heel toe on my crap pdp pedals. But its not like with the axis or longboard pedals. where your heels actually hit the board. it just creates a second stroke. Pretty simple actually.

  • hmmm..for those who use double pedal and for those who havent axis pedals ,

what about for those who have kinda bigger foot than urs dude :P ? plz respond :)

  • @XpliCiti hmmm... I've seen double strokes played with the toes in the middle of the pedal board, the heel not being on the pedal at all, i have never need to do this but i'll see what i can come up with for ya

  • @jamesmetaldrummer oh i know for what are u talking about ! ive tried to do this before but i kinda failed XD

    Thanx anywayz dude ;) ;)

  • your seat is fucking annoying.

  • exellent technique

  • Nastrój se ta centralke chłopie

  • sounds like slipknot

  • you need to oil your bearings on each pedal

  • Hey dude I have been playing drums for around a year, I started in late december 2009, should I buy a double bass pedal? I dont know wether I should buy a splash cymbal or a cheap double bass pedal... im not quite sure, any advice? Nice vid btw

  • @joeydestroyer Umm it depends on what you want to do man. A splash would add extra variety on the hands but a double pedal would allow your left foot to be used on the kick drum. Personally I say double bass pedal but it's up to you.

  • ur pedal heads are wrong way fairly sure of that

  • The hits are all there but I think this technique might jeapordize dynamics. I would prefer just wearing myself out playing powerful single strokes as opposed to this technique and the unavoidable galloping sound it seems to bring.

It seems like if you are trying to do a constant double kick beat with this technique, not all the bass hits would dynamically be the same and that would make it sound awkward.

  • @olsalesd Very true... the technique dynamically is flawed but only practice will iorn them out.

  • @olsalesd could it be because he is not using a longboard pedal? in other videos of people using this technique with longboards the dynamics seem pretty even. Just a guess though :).

  • see I'm size 11 and I i'm using Iron Cobra Jr's impossible for me to do that

I need Axis in my life

  • fuckyessssssssssssss. :D

  • I've had a double bass pedal for about 5 months and I can't get a smooth fluid rythem between my right and left feet.. any exercises I can do to practice with, or do I just need more time?

  • @w0lfie292 Just time and a solid practice routine :) - Copy the stuff I'm playing above and ya should have it in no time.

  • @jamesmetaldrummer only problem is that my feet are too big for the pedal.. :(

    size 13.

  • why arent you using this Axis pedals?

  • @brimbles72 To proove that this technique can be done on any pedal including really old ones like this Premier 6000 series.

  • @jamesmetaldrummer ohhhhhh gotcha.

  • the squeal noise sounds like a bed of a motel at 12 pm during sex! JAJA

  • @rodkid1 Dam right hahaha.

  • good man.. best technique for shows definately

  • I have Axis Long Boards...BUT I have size 15 feet. I've tried this technique but can't get the room on the footplate to do it. poo

  • @xxxlxt Dude EXACTLY! I'm looking into buying some longboards at the moment for the same reason.

I've got size 15 feet. i hear people telling me, no matter what size foot i have, i don't need longboards. that i can do it on any pedal just like he's shown in the video. well i can't. i find i have to put my feet on like a 45 degree angle across the board to get any sort of effect at all. Frustrating. I know haha. Think i'll cope much better without the heel plate.

  • Cool

  • dude ur a freakin beast at that pattern lol

  • Correct me If i'm wrong but are your beaters the wrong way round? :P

    Nice vid btw!

  • @Easkate4 it makes for a heavier sound

  • @Easkate4 nah most people who are like metal drummers use the back end of the beater. They're made like that to get a more punchy/clicky sound rather than just a thud. lol

  • @SuperGRIM101 Exactly right.

  • I'm wondering if learning this is really practical? It's cool as an exercise just as doubles on the hands are but would you ever use this to play the constant 16th notes that are commonly required in metal (mostly death metal I have mind haha)? Thanks. also you sounded good :)

  • @TheJosephlevine Indeed man. I use this live with no hassle at all. It's great for playing constant 16th notes. Use half the energy too. Thanks for the comments ! |m|

  • @TheJosephlevine I don't know if you listen to Asking Alexandria or if you like them or not but I got to talk to their drummer at their concert last night and He always does this 8th note pattern for 2 bars and then 16th notes for 2 bars(or however long) and he uses the Heel Toe technique. He was a pretty nice guy too. :)

  • @TheJosephlevine I use it too :) Always works for me! Check out my drum vids :>

  • I like how ur pedals are backwards XD

  • nice..

  • i cant drum with socks... :(

  • Squeak~

  • your bass head sounds loose as hell

  • @egates09 It's pretty tight. The sounds loose because of the quality of the cam mic. If I was using mics on the kicks it would sound like a heard of buffalo coming through your living room. Check otu Evans Emad 2 kick heads - these are amazing especially for gigs if you want your kicks booming!

  • @jamesmetaldrummer I got a Superkick 3 Aquarian on my 22" DW and it roars, too! I like the Emad on studio stuff.

  • @egates09 Sounds loose on the video but during a live show it makes for the sickest low end sound ever and it's also unmuffled. Sounds like a bunch of rhinos breaking through your house =D

  • @jamesmetaldrummer IT DOES sound like a bunch of rhinos breaking through your house! haha !!

  • wow!! nice pedal huh, hahaha i love drum forever ^^,

  • awesome!!!! nice one

  • why arnt you using those longboards back there?

  • @MattPurkis Just to proove the technique can be done on ANY pedal.

  • Notice how your heal is up past the hinge. That is the point for people with bgg feet. Even with socks on and rammed up against the chain, if your feet are big it is easier on a longboard because your heel is in "front of the hinge". P.S very uneven and sounds like galloping horses.

  • @jordanjcm - Yeah, that is a problem, they should make size variations of pedals. I can't really use Premier Pedals because the footboards are too short. You can get modfications for pedals but it's pointless. The video is mainly to proove that the motion of heel-toe can work on any pedal. - Cheers for the comment !

  • @jamesmetaldrummer Check out my version of the heel toe technique, specifically effective for drummers with larger feet. I've posted it as a response to this vid.

    -Jordan

  • @jamesmetaldrummer have you tried the axis longboards? I had the same problem you had, but the axis pedals i got fixed it for me.

  • axis long board pedals are great for heel toe

  • I've been doing heal toe off and on for about a month, and my shins still get worn out after about 20 minutes. How long did it take u to be able to do it comfortably.

  • @toyotadrummer - its good to build up over time, a month is a short time, it takes quite a while to get ya legs to not cramp up or wear out.. Like working out, the mroe you do it, the better you'll get. Just takes practice, keep at it.

  • @jamesmetaldrummer I kinda miss that feeling. Now I look like a rabbit when I'm yawning and stretching because I've gotten so used to it

  • Is that the Evans Emad 2 bass drum head? I have that one.

  • @dirtjump11 Indeed - great kick drum heads and allow for now damperning of the drum =D

  • @jamesmetaldrummer i can make a sweet intro for you... for free

  • i need a long board pedal:( my feet are damn close to too big to do heel toe on my dw5000

  • my pedal also squeaks but im not sure what exactly is squeaking, i think it might be the bearing but im not sure, any suggestions?

  • @DDTdrumming - I have the beaters backwards on this pedal because it allows for much more attack on the head, making it much more punchy.

  • Well done man

  • WD40 my friend.

  • @sebass198 lol ikr

  • @sebass198 be careful with wd40 its great for that squeak but never use it on bearings

  • @sebass198 Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad idea. WD 40 if left on the pedal too long will gunk up the bearings, slave rod, or whatever you put it on on the pedal. Best to go with some pedal lube from Tama or DW, if you can, but if not, you can always go to wally world or a automotive store and get some bearing lube for the pedal.

  • @sebass198 Was just going to say that!

  • @sebass198 this is a little late but anyway. no don't use WD40 because it will actually shorten how long your pedal will last if you ever do have a problem with pedals squeaking use a silicon spray which will actually also make the pedal last longer too. you can find them wherever you would normally find wd40 if you do take this advice

  • @Justins150 I put WD40 on my deck a long time ago... spent a night in hospital because the wheels fell of hahahaha. Fuck WD40 :)

  • @sebass198 boo! no! WD40 will attract dust into the moving parts and slow your pedal down. no joke.

  • @queenmcsleaze i use it.. took the rust out.. the squeky sound.. and now it bounces! :P
