@Paschkinator I believe tht was prob like an ex gf of Clown or wife possibly or just some bitch. I guess anyway to piss him nd get him angry with the flow of the music to make it even more amazing than it actually is
saying all this....and all that has been said...i agree with MrROCKMEISTER....i dont know where i would b if i did not write and have music like this to listen too....
I used to think that music was always harmless and could never influence young people in a negative way. Bands like this have changed my mind. No wonder the youth of today have no respect. This is scary as hell. The good music is gone forever. Replaced by angry savages like this.
@bballdmer1 2 people committed a murder and admitted to listening to this song before, during and after they did it. They said the lyrics encouraged them to do it. There is nothing great about that. This is sick and demented and rock and roll is not supposed to be like this. The opening line of the song was obviously written by someone with very deep issues.
@MrRockmeister1 So, it's not Slipknots fault it's the peoples fault for being so fucking stupid, it could have been any band...even fucking pop music...it depends on what makes them drive so shut up
@md511210 No it isn't Slipknot's fault that the murder happened, but musicians are supposed to set a good example for those who look up to them. These guys are not setting a good example for anyone. Do you even know what the opening line of this song is?
@MrRockmeister1 Yeah, it's "Nobody stop me....I wanna slit your throt (e) and fuck the world..." But that dosent mean they instigated or encourage (crap spelling) a murder, like I said it could have been any band, it's what calms or hypes people up, I know Slipknot make me in a good or enegetic mood, but some people get the same from compleatly unrelated music so, accept it, just because you don't like Slipknot or metal stop critiasizing.
@md511210 Who said I don't like metal? I grew up on metal but it wasn't sick and disgusting like this stuff is. The bands I listened to did not sing about committing murder or necrophelia. Check out the lyrics to "Born in a Casket" by Cannibal Corpse. If you think there is nothing wrong with that then you have some very serious problems. Why would anyone write something so messed up? By the way, you have the line wrong. Replace "world" with "wound".
@MrRockmeister1 No I will not look that up because i'm talking about Slipknot, not "Born In a Casket" I don't care about them or there lyrics. I don't care if I got the line wrong, big deal? I'm not going to contuinue this because I cant be arsed and have better things to do than argue with you.
@MrRockmeister1 cannibal corpse and deah metal lyrics in general are not meant to be taken seriously. the musicians themselves do not condone any sort of violence and they make that explicitly clear every chance they get. the lyrics are like horror stories and bands like slipknot just express anger and hatred due to teenage angst or somthin. music like this is a way for people to vent their frustration ect. instead of actually killing someone.
@northstarprod Your comment is an intelligent one and maybe the lyrics are not meant to be taken seriously but bands like Slipknot need to realize that kids are impressionable and some DO take the lyrics seriously. Kids look up to these guys and want to be like them. The 2 that committed a very horrific murder while listening to this song did not understand that it's not to be taken seriously. That's where the danger lies.
@MrRockmeister1 yeah that's pretty messed up. but I'm sure the song by itsself didn't cause them to kill. one should look at the circumstances and the sourroundings these kids were brought up in before turning the blame on musicians. and if these kids really wanted to be like slpknot or any other band, they'd pick up an instrument instead of a weapon. I understand your concern but blaming music, video games or any other artform is not going to improve anything.
@MrRockmeister1 Even though your post was from 2 weeks ago but anyways the lyric arent meant to be taking seriously u can blame it but its not gonna get them out of a hole plus a band tht makes lyrics like they describe the ackground of the song so yeah
@MrRockmeister1 Don't try to blame people like the members of slipknot for the act of a sociopath that would've happened regardless of the music's existence. Their music helps hundreds of thousands of people let out their angst, anger, grief, and whatever in a positive way every single day.
Read about Corey Taylor's life and then look at the art he's made despite (and because) of what he's dealt with, instead of ending up another homeless, druggie loser and THEN tell me he's a bad role model.
@MrRockmeister1 by the way, the opening line is Hold onto something.... don't try to correct me, looked in the Iowa book and it has all the lyrics, and you can cleary here that its Hold onto something.
