Yes, these guys were doing this amazing music years before Eno, Bowie, but let us not forget Pierre Schaeffer, Steve Reich, and many others, from the late 50's. Also Raymond Scott!
@hawkwind90 Sorry, what I meant by that is a response your comment about Eno getting way too much credit and the perhaps truer pioneers like Roedelius sidelined in the ENglish-speaking world. And I'm saying that's cos of the cultural insularity or parochialism of particularly Britain & the US, or its press at least. I'm agreeing fully with your point.
@hawkwind90 Yes, his mate, David Bowie, always gives credit to the German scene. Eno just relabelled other peoples music, then shamelessly gave him self credit for the music. He should be relabelled: Brian Ego.
the band at this point was Cluster with a C! The lp jackets they are showing in the 1st minute or so of this video "Cluster '71", "Cluster 2", (1972) are the 1st 2 lps by Deiter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius The red cover seen after the 1 minute mark is "Zwei-Osterei", the 1970 release by Kluster, which was Konrad Schnitzler (played on Tangerine Dream's "Electronic Meditation" lp) with Moebius and Roedelius.
"15:33" is from the debut "Cluster 71" lp on the Phillips label.
RIP Conrad Schnitzler.

talk about vintage gear... some of that stuff looks like it runs on steam power... but it was cutting edge at the time.

Is the music from one of the albums they recorded as Kluster. Which one, btw?
Bizarronumber4 3 years ago
The track playing in the background is (as it says in the clip) '15:33' from the LP 'Cluster' (or 'Cluster 71' as the reissue was called).

why does none of us speak german?
thackmasterplus 3 years ago 12
Scheinbar ist die Gruppe im befreundeten Ausland beliebter als in Deutschland.
Detroit1967 3 years ago 2
Non of us speak german because it is a difficult language to master
English is good for speaking quite simply, because the english are now used to hearing their own language spoken quite poorly
For me its a shame, but communication is more important and most my frends speak english then they know what the other say
