When I first heard this song I was 11 years old and my oldest brother had just come home from the Navy with his Technics SL-1950. I was an instant fan. "Atomic Punk" is my #1 of all time. That was the crispiest music I had ever heard in my life. That same day I heard Thin Lizzy "Jailbreak" too. I was an instant rocker. Up until that point I was only allowed to watch Hee Haw and the Dolly Pardon and Porter Wagner etal. Grandma called it devil music hahaha. Only God can make such a perfect sound.

All you have to do is track down the Gene Simmons demos to hear what Ted Templeman did for VH.

They Sound like a completely different band.

TT and Don Landee where able to present them to the listening public in such a way as to capitalize on their many strengths. It was pure genius on his part. Without Ted's contribution it's debateable if van halen would have become VAN HALEN.
