Oooh 20B alt! That makes a little more sense to me now, I thought the 12A was just teeny! Not that its not lol. I know it doesnt compare, but I did 55 h4 halogens in my chevy blazer with e code 200mm housings and I liked it. After that, I decided to try hid's. How's it look? watch?v=w-K40TJfEvY
@psychotikpaisano It's a bigger alternator from a 20B JC Cosmo. I went this big to power my headlights ;) The standard sealed beam headlights have been replaced with the biggest H4 Halogens I could find and the high beams are actually flat lens aircraft landing gear lights!! These babies light up any twisty road at night...
@yz250fwepon How long is a piece of string?!?! Anywhere from a few hundred for a hack job to a thousands for a nice job. Remembering that you need the rest of the car to suit. Not much use having a motor that can rev to 10k rpm with an intake and exhaust off a lawnmower ;)
@GOD12A Anywhere from $300 to $1000+ depending on how much work ya want in them. Angle cut secondaries require milling, cc'd ports take time and effort etc etc The port you hear in the vid is an angle cut bridge, cc'd and angle matched. Many more hours involved than a pedestal drill and an hour or two with a die grinder!!
very very nice build mate.. love the engine bay looks fkn tough!! iv recently bought a 808 i want to do the same to mine 12a inj bridgy can u give me sum tips? cheers mate..
@dimoqup Buy a car built!! hahahaaa Building one yourself is hard work and stupidly expensive (double what you think it will cost to build. Sounds like a joke but it definitely isn't). Taking it to a workshop means nothing, anyone can do that. To build a car on your own is an achievement not many people can put there name to. As for tips, get as much advice as possible on everything and ask **WHY** X is better than Y or Z, and make your decision from there. Everyone has an opinion...
@fooserides Custom. 12" long 3" straight thru before diff, 3" mandrel bent over diff to a 18" long 3" straight thru muffler on the rear. Both mufflers are stainless with stainless wool packing around the perforated tubes and fibreglass packing filling the remainder 80% of the can.
nice 3 mate. perfect choice of engine for it....gotta love the sound of a n/a 12a bridgey. It must lure alot of chickys with that bright paint job ;) "oooooo shiney" hehe
If N2O doesnt satisfy you needs try a Camden supercharger. For street use; you dont have to worry too much of intake/exhaust overlap with the proper exhaust as you do for turbo. The charger will hide the Bridgeport sound at idle, but the power gain is incredible.
My apologies, I only saw the crank sensor. (Haltech) is a great choice. I cant wait to go back to building these engines and racing them again. Most likely I have to wait until next year. Boss, it is a beautiful car. I am sure it runs quiet well.
Man!! Nice car and engine set up. Question, I see you use a modern distributor. Have you ever tried the old distributor with L/T for adjustment? You can remove the spring inside the distributor and set the timing fixed to 20 degree between Leading and Trailing at any given RPM. It would protect your engine at high RPM.
Heya there AMARTELL, I have run a locked dizzy in the past, but what you see on the current motor is a Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) from a 13BT. The motor runs and aftermarket Haltech ECU so I can tweak timing in any way I like!! I went that way to make any timing changes for N2O extremely easy ;)
The bridgeport relates to the intake side. Each main (primary) port has an eyebrow or bridge shaped port over the top of the main port. Google Image search the words bridgeport rotary ;)
im building my 12a bridgy now im trying to find that underdrive pulley set up you have it looks like a cog where did you buy it?? i cant find it on the internet helpp? last question what rear end and what gears do u have on that setup?
The port makes it sound rough, not the exhaust. I have outlined my exhaust in a previous comment if you want to see what i have done. It isnt cheap and all custom made. Goodluck with your car!!
Heya man, Alec Bell built the motor for me when he was in Oz as Rotary Power Australia before he started Kiwi-RE. Warren is a legend :) Wouldnt mind catching up with him next time im in NZ!!
Where is this car from... Im wondering if it was one of my old ones, Is it from Sydney...Has it been painted in this restoration... Could it have origionally been light blue
Its a mauffler i got custom made by a place in Sydney, Australia called HiTech Exhaust. Its a offset-centre straight through 3" x 18" long stainless effort with stainless steel packing around the perforated tube and glass packing around that to fill the rest of the muffler ;)
Yeah man thats what the screen read, but then, dynos can be played with and figured screwed around, so until she hits the track, thats the only performance figure i have ;)
wow nice ride man rx3's are the bomb lol right now australia happends 2 be the home of rotarys i think lol. nice gilmer belt dude fukn luv that whistling sound lol sounds like its supercharged.
Love everything about this car, BP sounds awesome, love the injection setup, gilmer sounds tough, beautiful exhaust note. Gold B45's on the green. Just perfect mate. Well Done.
hey ummmm, what sort of power do you get out of this motor, i got a 76 mitsi lancer sedan (it looks like a rx2), and im tryin to get a rotary for it... is it worth going for a 12a pp or just goin 4 the 13b. also what kind of work is involved in the injection setup?
No dyno figure yet, but im expecting around 200 rear wheel hp. I have spent alot on this motor, she aint an average bridgey ;) Both questions you ask are very open and really depend on where ya from to answer even half well!! Sorry :)
Got her dynod on the weekend. 172rwhp. Less than what i expected but we did find that the intake manifold is a little too short and the tight curvature gives the graph a little "wave" down the lower end of the rpm. Time for a new manifold and we will hit the dyno in the new year!!
Custom everything!! 1 1/8" equal length mandrel bent primaries (with a resonator on each side) to a 12" long, 3" diameter collector that flows into a 12" long stainless muffler, 3" mandrel bends over diff to the rear 18" long 3" muffler. Both mufflers are side/centre dogleg straight thru style. The front section is ceramic coated to minimise radiant heat from the exhaust heating the intake manifold. Any Qs just ask ;)
How did you go about fuel injection? How much did it cost? I'm grabbing myself a 1st gen rx7 and am thinking of going fuel injection + bridgeport too.
So fuel injected yeah? How'd you go about doing that? Expensive? Time consuming? I'm grabbing a first gen Rx7 soon and it's gettin a bport, also thinking of fuel injection.
Sounds bloody awesome mate, looks the part too. Great work
great looking car, how much has it cost to get it that far. I have been thinking about getting a RX3, but not sure what the figures are to do that. Thanks
Thanks, glad ya like her. Cost?!?! God himself wouldnt know. I dont want to know... Sit down and add it up with someone that has built something similar to what ya want, then double it. Thats not a joke, seriously double it...
