Tammy I noticed that you don't use garlic in any of your soups or stews. I want to know if your vacuum sealer comes with a vacuum tube attachment and attachments to vacuum the storage glass jars. Thanks.

When you freeze foods they change texture on a cellular level, is the same true with dehydrating? I'm curious if something like collard greens are tenderized by the dehydrating process?

on your quick bread recipe...can we leave out the spices to have just reg. bread? have you tried this, how about adding whole wheat flour (fresh ground)...have you tried the recipe with powdered egg so you only have to add oil and water? What I'm trying to do is make some quick bread for my elderly relatives in case of emergency's...thank you so much
Yes, you can leave out the spices and use powdered eggs. You can use your own quick bread recipe the only thing you will want to do is increase the amount of water ( equal parts water to dehydrated items) in the recipe to make up for the dehydrated fruit or vegetables. Please make sure you go to our web site dehydrate2store and enter in the giveaway of a 9 tray Excalibur by Dec. 21 2009. Tammy
Temperature and temperature changes have the most to do with the shelf life of stored food then any other factor. The USDA states, "Each 5.6 C. (10.08F) drop in temperature doubles the storage life of the seeds." Experience has shown that this applies to foods too.
They are Crofton crock pots that I purchased at Aldis. The small one were $7.00 and the larger ones were $12.00. My rice cooker is also a Crofton from Aldis I think I paid $20.00 for that. I use them all the time and they work great. The big red on is a Rival ( $22.00 Kohl's)and I like that one too. This Easter Sunday I will make three different soups in less then 10 minutes with my smaller slow cookers and dehydrated foods.
I will also, throw together 3 different quick breads with dehydrated fruits in minutes. I can put together a big impressive dinner in a fraction of the time. This is because everything is chopped and in jars. No peeling or chopping. When you start cooking with dehydrated foods you will save so much time and money. I hope you give it a try.
Yes, I think that the Excalibur is the best on the market. The fan is on the back of the dehydrator and this creates and even air flow for drying. I have 2 Excalibur and they run day and night and keep on running. I have no financial interest in the company nor will I ever except any money or gifts from this company. So when I tell you this is the best I speak from my heart. Even if you find a used one on the enter net I would buy it.
Thank you so much. These videos are fantastic and informative. I have learned so much from you. We are really learning a lot about dehydration. I wished I had gotten the information about the blueberries a little sooner ...lol. I will now dehydrate the dried ones! Excellent. thanks again!

I have a Foodsaver sealer and use the bags but they are a bit pricey. Do you know of any other brand that works as well and might be less expensive?
