  • Too much detail but otherwise very nice

  • Never hit the spindle with anything. Put your index fingers in both slots on the platter and press down on the spindle with your thumbs firmly but gently, as it says you should do in the manual.

  • I internally grounded my TT MK5's on both rca grounds, this extends the life of the rca cables by double, especially if you are using your tables alot. Alot of djs fold their rca and ground wires alot and thats what causes them to go out. Back in the day mixers didnt have the technology we have today so thats why they built them the way they did. and if by connection sheme u mean a schematic, lol i could draw one up but where would i post it? I have taken apart a TT Top to Bottom

  • If you are smart you can put a ground switch in on the bottom cable entry plate so you can lift the ground from the rca cable and back to the ground wire if you use a setup that needs the tt's grounded (not all mixers or phono amplifiers have common ground on the rca connectors)

Separate ground wire is better unless you only use your tt's with the same mixer all the time. if you use serato just ground to the mixer directly.

  • They didnt ground them because if you dont have a common ground in your mixer you will have problems with feedback and your serato wont work. If you are going to ground your turntables inside I would leave the ground wire wraped under your turntable just in case you need it cause they do go out alot. I went to school for electronics and know whats up, I also fix the technics turntables, these clown grounding their turntables dont even know Ohms law rofl

  • @Djadidas1983 A shield that is not connected to a ground isn't shielding any interference from the actual signal wire it is wrapped around, so the two shields HAVE to be connected to a ground. So where would the shields of each RCA be grounded other than on the ground of the mixer/amplifier? Could you show me a connection sheme of such a mixer with seperated ground signals?

  • Your awesome man. This video helped me alot just did 2 today...with the rca mod too since the rca's were old. Thanks!

  • why didn't technics just use grounded plugs... this is such a pain in the ass.

  • I believe that they are all built that way now. Not 100% positive, but I thought I heard about two or three years ago that they had changed over in North America. Can anyone else comment?

  • @djbolivia This guy is a moron, lol he just said that both shields (grounds on rca's) are connected to a common ground, then he goes on to say not to connect the ground in the tone arm to both sheilds cause it will make it mono, ROFL ...fool just said they are connected what a moron.

  • why didn't technics internally ground their turntables in the first place?

  • what?

  • I am worried about doing this to a set of 1200 MKII's which are used with Serato/Traktor. I too have heard of self grounding being a potential problem... any idea if this is true?

  • @BisMaxx Nope, I use an internally grounded MK2 with Traktor with no trouble with Traktor Scratch Pro.

  • Cool thanx man, can't believe I haven't done this yet..

  • What about changing the power cord?

  • Every time he says "OK", everybody has to take a drink!

    Keep these videos coming!

  • I heard this sometimes causes interference with serato? any info about that? thanks!

  • hi there , i get a low noise in the speakers when i am playing from vinyl this happens only when i raise volume ...what's wrong ? is there a way i can fix it ? i noticed that this happens only when the needle is touching the record

  • @blueyesalexya That sounds like accoustic feedback - look it up..

Your bass is vibrating your decks, which makes them produce a bass sound, which makes your speakers produce more bass, which vibrates your decks more, which makes them produce a bass sound .. - FEEDBACK !

You need to lower the bass a little on the eq, or isolate your decks from the vibration that the bass sound causes to them (put them on foam, etc.).

Or place your speakers where they wont vibrate your decks. ; )

  • you're a real sl1200 nerd. that's a compliment :p

  • just done this to my new 1210, works a treat! SAFE!

  • East Coast / West Coast Canada. East from September to April of every year for fun, West every May-August for work. But I've travelled through a lot of the American Midwest. I love being on the road.

  • Very nice! Thanks for uploading this =o] You from Da Midwest?

  • There are some very good 1200 repair vids but this ones the best. Very informative. But still looking for something around that shows how a signal to a 1200 would have gone from a turntable. Both of my 1200s wont put out a sound all of a sudden through both (weird). Even changing cartridges on both

  • This is a new single full-length version of the original tutorial that had to be split into five separate sections because of YouTube's old "10 minute limit." But it's almost exactly the same content as the previous series of videos.
