The American Historical Review, among the oldest and most prestigious academic journals in the United States, has condemned Service’s biography of Trotsky, saying that it "fails to meet the basic standards of historical scholarship". The review has explicitly endorsed the critique of Service's book by David North, the chairman of both the Socialist Equality Party in the United States and the international editorial board of the World Socialist Web Site.
trotsky was a murderer, so was stalin, so were sverdlov, kamenev, boucharin and lenin; they were all scum of the scum and they deserved each other; they shouldve been locked in a cage and have them go on each others throats...millions of people's lives wouldve been spared. hitchens has lost his mind to alcohol and depression. wtf is wrong with you man, youre what now a trotskyte and a bushist? what happened to you? we used to think you were a truth seeker. now you talk nonsense. shame.
@Ilikenuman -- yeah, he became a neoconservative crypto-communist movement supporter. the man who was championing prosecuting Kissinger became bush-cheney supporter, who claim Kissinger is their godfather and it was reported that they call Kissinger daily to get an advise...the result: million dead iragis, 70 thousand wounded and killed our troops. he sold his soul, oddly enough exactly as some of those revolutionaries, who inspired in the beginning, then turned around and became mass murderes.
Robert Wistrich was right when he said that, in considering the possibility that Stalinism (and not Socialism) was the immediate future for mankind, Trotsky peered over the abyss, only to draw back in an act of pure faith.
Russia is like America's untrustworthy, alcoholic younger brother. When you got Moscow, the Russians seem a lot like Americans (like Canadians are), but they cannot get their country to run well for the life of them.
