it's lip-synched...the sound track is directly from the album recorded in the studio, over-dubbed with canned screaming/applause...and then the video portion was shot, lip-synched to create the video...this ISN'T a live performance
Wanna-be band? This album "Deface The Music" was a convoluted joke of course... the whole idea was all Beatles-sounding tunes, but if you aren't aware of that, you couldn't possibly enjoy the joke.
@OneMetaphysician A JOKE? YOU'RE JOKING!!! Todd Rundgren & Utopia, joking around, made better music than those so-called rappers and hip-hoppers performing at their best (which of course ain't very good).
perfect, even to the final step back and deep bow taught the the boys way back in the day by Brian Epstein. Kasim even used a Hofner thumper, although he couldn't pretend to be a southpaw! Willie is not only cool, he makes drumming and singing look EASY (which it's not). Todd as John is karmic delight and this tribute is topped off with the song which is what the fab four WOULD have sung, IF they could've gotten away with it in 1963 Todd repaid his karmic debt!
Lets see...The Furs, Meat Loaf, The New York Dolls, Badfinger, Grand Funk Railroad, I'm forgetting another band... Who didn't he produce ?? Absolute..... You pick the word.
@Galantski Sure no one makes it out of this alive, it's the positive contributions one does while here that counts. As far as Todd, I think he is definitely a genius, loyal fans say "Todd is Godd" because his music has meant a lot to them through out the years, and I'm one of that group.
Only Todd and Utopia could out-Beatle The Beatles! Just amazing!! Ever since imharpo closed his account, I've missed this fantastic video. Thank you so much for uploading it!
xxxtitanhead - who was the announcer? We know Todd is John with his wide legged stance and Hohner, Kasim looking and sounding like the adorable choirboy (Paul), Willie Wilcox looking way cooler than Ringo ever did - and the final bow courtesy of Brian Esptein's training? PS xxxx where did you get this? It's fantastic. I've been a todd fan since 1973 and love Utopia's homage to the lads, Deface the Music, but truly the fab four never would have sung, "I just wanna get inside you".

This was shot intentionally by Todd to emulate the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, This isn't on a TV show
