  • He didnt even have the freakin puck, a dirty hit for sure. Easily a game-misconduct

  • just a blindside not a dirty hit

  • He wasn´t in control of puck, so u can´t finish your check

  • zasah ramenem protihrace v drzeni puku, cistej hit

  • fucking Canadian ! Yes ! I´m from Czech republic !

  • Comment removed

  • Not dirty, and i usually think most questionable hits are dirty. Unfortunate the other player got hurt. Everyone that plays the game is aware of the risks going into it though.

  • Comment removed

  • glad he'll be playing for the east. lol. kassian is gonna be a killer for the sabres. dustin brown milan lucic clone.

  • Clean hit, the Refs were idiots

  • @KatanaSpirit why are you insulting the czech player for getting hit, it's not like he called the bad penalty. The ref did, you fucking headcase.

  • Keep your head up and on a swivel.

  • if theres no connection to the head y is he out cold he didnt hit his head on the ice his face hit his gloves

  • The Fans Are Right BS

I Was Sitting By The Guy That Started The BS Chant

  • that was shoulder to shoulder?

  • Typical czech being a little bitch. No call on the play for a reason, they went back and changed it to keep the peace. Shouldn't have been any action taken (not even a 2 minute minor). Would love to see that czech trash play in the NHL and try and pull this act.

  • @KatanaSpirit better go to forest lumberjack, to hunt sasquatch ! : )

  • I'm Czech and I fuckin like this his...he just finished his check...I do it too :)...too bad he got hurt...reminds me of Phaneuf on Olesz

  • no head contact and it was clean and the czech should keep his head up

  • later in that game the announcers explained that if the hit causes the players head or neck area to hit the ice it is a headshot which is totally ubsered because that was a clean hit,

~dont judge someone on there history

  • Clean hit. Not a blind side. Why is this kid skating up the middle with his head down. He was asking to get rocked.

  • Not Blindside!

  • GREAT HIT ! KEEP IT UP !

  • Some of these comments are ridiculous. It was a clean hit. If he got back up they wouldn't have blew the whistle. What do you expect will happen to you in a contact sport where you try to come across the middle with your head down? They will see that you don't know what you're doing and then get out of your way? Try playing the sport competitively and you'll see that's not how it works.

  • clean

  • @HK1987 yea it's called exploding into the hot. It's the first thing your taught in the hitting clinic. U start low then explode up into the guys chest winding him and taking him out of the play. If you watch the replay there was no head contact but his head hit the ice hard so it's a clean hit. Should have gotten 2 games guy should be looking and it's his teamster fault for stopping right infront of him

  • ass whole

  • text book hockey hit! keep your head up dumbass!

  • I think given the context of the competition (and they're almost always airing on the side of caution) it's an "OK" decision to give him the extra game. That said if he just got the 1 game ban that would have been fine too. It's a bit of a gray area imo. Anything more than what he has now would be excessive.

I don't think there was any malicious intent. The organization is reacting to the guy being taken off in a neck brace and is trying to send a msg to the other teams.

  • Clean hit.

  • if you look at 0:29 he hit him in the chest, as for a late hit most hits you see are alot later then that it just looks late when its in slow motion. In actual game speed its not late at all.

  • pussy Czechs.

  • @goldenal6 Exactly what I was thinking. This wasn't even a hit shot whatsoever! Just because CzechFag started to cry the ref felt bad and had to make a stupid call.

  • @catspride1 i know hey. refs didnt knoow what happend. he definatly shouldnt of gotten suspended

  • @goldenal6 And of course I meant 'head' shot.

  • its not a dirty hit but IIHF rules are a lot more tight. If he didnt get hurt he wouldnt have got a penalty its that simple. If it was the NHL the only penalties would have come from the fight that would happen after.

  • Are you people blind? He hit the guy in the chest?

  • Comment removed

  • omg you guys are retarded lmao this is not a dirty hit in the least. Try playing the game yourself, maybe even look into the rules and you'd realize that this is in fact a clean hit. Kassian is 6'3" 226lbs, he has 40 lbs on Senkerik. Of course getting hit full speed by someone of that size is going to hurt. Are you suggesting he should be punished for his size and strength? Give your head a shake, it's clean. It's not bias** it's called the game of hockey.

  • dont forget it is late as well.... dirty play

  • @capsfanforlife barely late

  • im sorry but you guys are SOOOOO biast, if you seriously think that was a bad call. this hit was cleaaaarly dirty. i am from canada but im not biast like you guys. JUST BEACAUSE pierre mguire says its not a dirty hit, it does not mean its not a dirty hit. get your heads straight,, i dc about kassians history he didnt mean to hurt him, but this is dirty. he comes from the blindside, and at " 47" seconds it clearly shows he made contact to the chin & neck. NO WONDER HE GOT TWO GAMES!!

  • @capsfanforlife You're insinuating that just because I'm a patriotic Canadian that makes me "biased" to a hockey call. That is bullshit. His hands were down, therefore the only reason his should, and let's be honest here, brushed the Czech players head is because he's taller. Are you suggesting Kassian should skate around crouched? Haha Kassian was going for a big hit no doubt, but just because this guy got caught with his head down doesn't mean extra discipline (if any at all) should be issued.

  • @capsfanforlife he made contact witht he chin cause teh guy was failing its called gravity, The dude he hit left his feet cause he got rocked and he fell down and hit his head on kassians shoulder on the way to the Ice. Totally clean hit right in the chest.

  • a dirty hit or not you do somthing like that thats boarded line dirty in the WJC your gonna get a 5min game....in the NHL you might get a 2min minor and a fight.

  • @WahooWa1819 It was a tottaly clean hit that sends a message to the other teams in the tournament. Keep your head up or Canada is gona rock you.

  • It was a dirty and illegal hit on the Czech player since Kassian charged with the shoulder and made contact.

  • @HK1987 its illegal because he charged with the soulder and made contact? are you sure you arent mistaking golfing with hockey? he finished his check which is aloud the czech player probably suffered whip lash but it had nothing his injury had nothing to do with getting hit in the head

  • @DEaDmOOsEProductions Well that`s your opinion, not mine. I`m saying that he hit him in the chin, which is part of the head, with his shoulder. And that is not only illegal but also dirty. Just because you are allowed to finish a check acording to the rules you can`t check people in the head.

  • @HK1987 He doesn't even lift his shoulder until after the play, meaning it is not a head check. A head check is when a player makes clear contact with the head (usually by raising their shoulder). I've played for 15 years and reffed for 6. This is a clean hit. There should have been no penalty called, and it is not a head check because he doesn't even lift his shoulder, he is merely a big guy. It's not a matter of opinion, it's fact, based on rules.

  • @jkn0127 His shoulders are up after the hit, which mean he lifts his shoulder during the check to the head. You having played for 15 years and reffed for 6 years holds no authority since this is international hockey. And if you wanna talk facts then they are clearly shown in full view, and from that you go to the IIHF rulebook which states that this is an illegal hit. Which correlates with my opinion of the situation.

  • @HK1987 Did I say it gave me authority? No I didn't. Have you played the game? I assume no because otherwise you'd understand what things are like moving at full speed. His shoulders come up after the hit, yes. Meaning he lifted them after the hit? The IIHF rulebook is merely european based bullshit. As someone said earlier, almost reminds me of soccer.

  • @jkn0127 The shoulders are up after hit, which means he was lifting his shoulders while making the hit. And you can clearly see that on the tape. If you can`t understand that and see that then there is no need to discuss this further.

  • @HK1987 Go play a game of hockey. Try skating with your head down and see just how hard you get creamed budd. Bet there will be no call on the play as long as the hit is as clean as Kassian's was. There is no need to understand or see your ridiculous views because they are wrong. Au reviour :)

  • @HK1987 no they werent

  • @HK1987 How do you know he didnt play in Europe which uses IHF rules fucking retard

  • @Alcan196 No need to turn to name calling. Apperently he didn`t or else he would have said so, I think I`m safe by saying what I did. And yes the shoulders were being raised while making the hit to the chin, which is iilegal and dirty. This is made clear since directly after the hit his shoulders are high and fully extended upwards, meaning he was raising them during the hit.

  • You morons who think this was clean is pathetic. Its a blind sided hit to the head area-illegal by NHL rules. From the another TSN camera, the shoulder hit Senkerik chest and into his chin. Last time, I checked, the chin is part of the head. Senkerik, released the puck but Kassian did not let up.

  • Headshot at 48 seconds. it's unclear from the other angles.

  • For anyone out there that thinks this is a dirty hit ...

Step 1: Get your eyes checked

Step 2: Look over the rules (i.e. you are allowed to finish checks after the puck is released, and a hit to the head requires contact with the head not the top of a shoulder hitting a chin)

Step 3: Check the family tree, are your parents related? That might be the problem

Step 4: Take a look at the hit by the Slovakian player on Zucker, that's dirty.

If you still think it's dirty, there's no hope for you.

  • so now he being suspended two games...international hockey is becoming more like soccer every tournament :(

  • NO PENALTY ON THAT HIT!! IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, MEET ME BEHIND THE ARENA AT 6:00 PM

  • 2 min for a late hit would have been enough. Then on the other hand always nice to see something that upset canadian hockeyfans. They must be among the most blind in the world :). most "

  • @IronFort how many gold medals has your country had in the last 10 years? yeeah thought so...

  • @DEaDmOOsEProductions

    Olympics 2004, World Championship 2006

And its no secret that canadian hockey fans are known for not showing any sportmanship or class. Always booing other teams and refs.

  • @DEaDmOOsEProductions Olympics 2006, World Championships 2006.. And canadian fans are known for not showing sportmanship. Always booing other teams and refs. If a canadian player slashes someone in the face they boo the ref for making a call, and if someone makes a great check on a canadian player they boo the ref for not giving a penelty. So for me its always nice to see canada not doing so well...

  • @IronFort canada is 3-0 in the tourney how is that not doing so well, 6-3, 7-2, 10-1, i guess they would be doing better if they made the games even less close then they were.....

  • @IronFort Ah go make some Swedish meatballs and get off Canada's case. If your team can't play hockey then get off the ice.

  • @IronFort LOL YOUR AN IDIOT

  • @IronFort CANADA KNOWN FOR NOT SHOWING SPORTSMANSHIP? just because you boo becasue of the call doesnt mean you have bad sportsmanship, players swear at each other, hit each other, fight each other, but in the end they still show sportsmanship... people like you dont show sportsmanship saying its always nice to see canada not doing well, well guess what you shouldnt get used to it

  • this is basically a 5 minute major and an ejection from the game for Zack Kassian playing his style. If this was a Canadian player getting rocked, would this have the same outcome with a game misconduct and missing the Norway game. What about the spear to Gudbranson, or the knee with De Haan?

  • I was at this game - it was a clean hit! The crowd went nuts when the refs called a penalty 5 minutes later, and booed the call vehemently for another couple of minutes before chanting "Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit..." for a while.

  • Pierre Mcguire has taken a few too many hits to the head

  • Watch this Link and see what I mean! Sutton Lays Out Leapold! The Same Fucking Way that Kassian did!

  • I'd like to know how this is a penalty if it's a clean hit, but when the penalty was on and Canada was short-handed and scored. How is that not a Penalty for Hitting From Behind when the czech comes in late after thee whistle when Canada Scores and Decks the Canadain Player Head First into the boards after the goal! That should be a Fucking Penalty! Stupid Referees!

  • Hey moron, HD is not your HD camera pointed at your crummy TV.

  • If anyone wants to see an elbow/head shot check out Pronger on McAmmond

  • I have now watched this hit so many times and still have yet to figure out why there was a penalty at all. I guess you get penalized for using your size. I do realize that Kassian has a history. But anyone that says it was a blatant hit to the head needs to watch a little closer because he keeps his elbow tucked in and never leaves his feet. One foot comes off the ice after the hit as a result of the impact.

and before anyone starts saying I never played the game..Started in '73 and still play

  • Clean hit. The czech player also has to be aware other players in the neutral zone. You are going to get hit if you try to keep your eyes on the puck the whole time.

  • Looked clean to me. Kassian is a great player. My favorite part of the whole thing is how the czech's don't even stand up for their teammates. Go Canada!

  • This is deffineately a clean hit! It goes back to the standard rule in hockey, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! the Czech player had his head down you can ask any referee from the NHL and they will say that's a great clean hit you might get a charge depending on how fast you're going but in all that's a clean hit. Look at the Senators and Penguins last year in the playoffs. Sutton tanked Jordan Leapold the exact same way! yeah OK he got a penalty, but the NHL Rules to what they were in the 90's It's clean hit

  • you guys saying he hit the head must have a better view of it than I do. All the video I've seen doesn't show contact with the head and neither official indicated a penalty when the hit occurred, they reacted to the injury which is not how it is suppossed to happen. Again very unfortunate and I hope the Chezh player is ok but it was not a dirty hit and not a late hit either as the puck just left his stick.

  • I've seen such worse hits in hockey. If you actually look, his head barely hit his shoulder. However looks like Kassian did come up high a little bit, but also the Czech player brought himself down lower at the same time. I think it was a text book hit though he may have extended himself too soon. Either way suspension for that is ridiculous! Some responsibility for the injury lands on the victim as well, and that's true in probably 60-70% of injuries.

  • @1hockeyfreak Ya contrary to many comments it does look like there is some shoulder contact to the head but it appears to be unintentional.

  • It is a high hit but the other guy is quite low with his head so I do not think he is aiming for the head. He did not leave his feet.

The only thing is that it is a pretty late hit (you are allowed to hit even after the puck has been released) and for that he could well get the match since the other guy was injured!

  • It was a late hit (puck had been released) and there was contact with the head (his armour plated shoulder hit his chin and the chin is part of the head): the call was right.

  • @2tuque2 You're allowed to finish your check after the puck is released. The only reason there was even a call on the play is because someone got hurt. Buddy over there plays in the WHL, he'll have to learn to keep his head up sooner or later. Kassian's upper shoulder hit the bottom of the Czech player's head. That is not a hit to the head, that is a clean hit in which one player has size on another, and a player had his head down and paid the price. Know your shit before commenting.

  • @jkn0127 In the WJHC a headshot is the head and neck area, so Kassian may be out for longer due to technicalities. But by OHL and NHL standards, for sure a clean hit.

  • @jkn0127 There was no connection to the head.

  • @jkn0127 Rome got suspended for the entire stanley cup playoffs for similar hit though and his was straight on, not from a possible blind side. So going by previous decision in the NHL it would be viewed as a late/high for anyone just getting into hockey.

  • Elbow to the head, that's a joke. His arm never left his side. It was shoulder to chest. Unfortunate yes. Dirty NO!

  • Wow your all saying its a brutal call? Its one of the worst elbows to the head ive ever seen. I really hope he get 5 games +.

  • Comment removed

  • That was a brutal call. He made no connection with the head what so ever and I'm sure when the officials look over the video they will see that it was a clean hit. An unfortunate one for the Chezh but clean none the less. Just because of Kassian's history everyone jumps to the conclusion it was dirty. The guy was reaching for the puck and got caught with his head down a bit but it was a clean hit and the officials reacted to the injury. There was no penalty indicated on the play and none needed.

  • @abn04 You got that right! the Czech turned his head away at the last seccond! and you gotta remember that Kassian's Fucking 6'3" tall +skates and the Czech with skates is just over 6' tall. That's a clean check with the shoulder to the chest by Kassian!

  • @abn04 Kassian is known for being a trouble maker. Didn't look too sorry after this one happened either. If he wasn't always so quick to lose his head, he might be given more chances. His own fault if he's punished by his own reputation

  • If you were watching the game at the time, ONLY 1 angle looked like there was any connection to the head, the others looked like a clean hit. It was a little behind the play so yes it should be a interference. Now there is no injury, the czech player is fine, in fact he could've played the last period.

Not to mention the refs did not call it a penalty at all, it was the linesmen that requested a look at the hit which caused the ruling.

  • I might give Kassian the benefit of the doubt if this was an isolated incident. Unfortunately this is typical Kassian. Make sure the guy cant see you, then launch yourself into him as hard as possible. Is he just too stupid and careless to figure out hes been giving all these guys concussions? Figure it out Kassian. Youre not a human missile, stop trying to kill these guys.

  • Contact with his head? Yes

Both feet on the Ice? Yes (0:48, contact and both feet down)

Result of skating with your head down? Concussion

The refs made the call based on the result, not the action. Late hit could be argued either way.

  • It's an unfortunate hit, but there was definitely contact with the head. I don't think Kassian intended to injure; he just wanted to throw a big hit. For those who say there isn't contact with the head, it's pretty obvious from 46-50 seconds, you can pause it where the head bounces off the shoulder. It's because the Senkirik was leaning forwards.

  • @byae If you watch the hit on a better quality video you will see there is no contact at all with the head, the impact did case the head to snap back which must be what you see.

  • If Kassian had just kept lower - which would have been a harder hit - there would be no dispute about it being clean and any resulting penalties would definitely be bullshit.

  • When a player has a history of dirty hits it's hard to argue in his favor. If this hit was from Cormier almost everyone would be trying to get him suspended for the tournament

  • 2 words clean hit

  • @dougjnesbit

Are you serious man? His left foot comes off the ice AFTER contact, and his right foot never leaves the ice. Have you ever even played a game of hockey before? I understand complaining about it being late, but there's no way that was a head check.

  • @archer2135 Never said it was a headshot. I see one foot definitely off the ice and the other one at least lifting the heel in the process of making contact. I've made my point and don't need to defend it anymore. Get over it, someone disagrees with you.

And yeah, I've played hockey 26 of my 30 years. And I've been a coach, trainer and power skating instructor. But so what?

  • Beauty hit square on the chest! His head

Whipped into shoulder after impact! If you think otherwise you should watch oprah!

  • Again, people misunderstand what the purpose of hitting in hockey truly is. Kassian has a history of going after players heads and this hit is again unecessary. He clearly wants to hurt as opppose to stop the oppponent from pursuing the play. The 5 minutes and game is absolutely warranted. Kassian will be a marked man and will get what he has coming. Not needed in the sport ..too much press for him anyway. NEXT.

  • @Phranswa He did not clearly want to hurt, if he wanted to hurt he would have left the ice like in his resent hit in the WHL that was intent to hurt. Plus as far as a marked man Kassian is one of the most physically dominant players in the tourney so anyone who tried to go after him would likely end up like Senkerik. Also its you who misunderstands the purpose of hitting in hockey, it is to knock a player off the puck thus removing the threat of a goal, which this very clearly did.

  • He didn't hit him in the head but he jumped - just not as dramatically as the hit against Kennedy. That's dirty - a headshot that missed. The jumping has to go along with the headshots.

  • @dougjnesbitt Are you fucking blind he didn't leave his feet. What a fucking joke of a suspension .

  • @TheThatsnasty Yeah, I'm fucking blind. Watch his left foot. No dispute that it's airborne. He pushes off with his right foot, and you can clearly see his right heel coming up and then landing from the all three angles, especially the rear and side angles. You might say he's on his toe which is too hard to tell. Right toe on the ice or not, he jumped. Get over it.

  • im a canadian and he clearly hit him in the fucking head, yes it was bullshit they waited until the guy didnt get up to call a plenty, but if you cant see the blatant hit to the head your almost as fucking stupid as Pierre

  • @MrZoneSauce He got him on the chin which is the weakest spot to knock anybody out.

  • tsn said they took the video to the lab and saw that it was shoulder to chin.

  • I was at game. Now that I see the replay it was a good hit. There was no call initially at the game.

  • I WAS AT THIS GAME

  • beautiful open ice hit. that was shoulder to the body blind side maybe but still a beautiful hit.

  • I was present at this game and probably had one of the best angles to view it since I was ice level. Kassien delivered his shoulder to just the top of Senkerik's rib cage. He was also fully conscious before he hit the ice. Kassien's check was clean but late. The game misconduct was harsh and by no means was it a "check to the head" as called. Senkerik's loss on consciousness was a direct result of his head snapping forward to hit the ice.

  • 100% clean hit. It looked more like he threw his head back on his own then knocked himself out when he hit the ice. If there is any post game involvement from the officials it should be to reverse the game misconduct. But that would be asking way to much.

Maybe its better that he don't play the Norwegians if he does this to a supposed hockey power. Fewer injuries that way to all these 5'0" punks they send against us.

  • Zack should get a pat on the back for a well delivered check. Elbow was tucked in, both feet on the ice, shoulder to chest contact.

  • To be honest, the czech player is just a pussy. At 0:30 you can clearly see that he hit the czech players chest.

  • Comment removed

  • Dont cut through the middle of the ice with your head down, problem solved. This is by no means a blindside hit by the way, not even close.

  • There did not look to be any head contact. If anything, it looked a tad late. In perfect honesty I must admit to being a Sabres fan, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but if that is the way he is going to play, then I can't wait to see him in the blue and gold!

  • You guys really are retarded if you don't se it's a hit 2 the head, ofc it's a 5 minute major.. but i guess it's the canadian way.

  • @SweApplet Damn straight its the Canadian way don't send pussy ass bitches to play against us or they will leave on a fuckin stretcher. Theres a reason little shits don't play in the big leagues. Especially soft ass Euro Fags.

    Try soccer bitch.

  • @CapsBandwagon St Louis, one of the best players in the big league, is huge right? Last years MVP in the big league, a Euro fag in your mind i can imagine. The biggest pussy in the big league is a canadian, and im sure as a caps fan you agree? aspecially based on "The real crosby tribute" posted on your page.

And yeah europeans are better then canadians playing soccer also.

  • @CapsBandwagon

Its sadly to hear what a poor language you have, That you have a opinion is one thing but that you cant argue without some of your words, thats just sadly. I hope you improve soon but I guess that all that will happend is that you will use those words again against me and proof that you need more time in school.

  • @SweApplet i dont know if you actually watched the video but its pretty clearly his chest/shoulder that he hits, without his elbow.. also known as a clean hit

  • @MrJFlat He slams his shoulder right in his face.. just because you don't use your elbow it doesnt automatically make it a clean hit.

  • He got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct... and an automatic suspension for the next game.

BS call if you ask me.

  • no penalty was called to start... no contact was made to the head... he just rocked him. last i checked it was a contact game... he better not receive a suspension

  • It was clean. Buddy was just admiring his pass. Bad mistake against Canada!!

  • CLEAN AS FUCK!

  • great hit, too bad its in International hockey, they cant take a hit, shoulder to the chest is called a violent check to the head???? Refs are retarded, hopefully old Dan( the disiplinarian) get this one right, Very Nice win also Canada, keep it up.

  • clean hit.

  • clean to me..he has a bad rep though

  • late hit

  • Clean.

  • @xJTxRipperx Way to clean man
