i always thought the MK II was just a waste u couldnt outfit it with much for firepower without stripping it of armor and speed it was more like a heavy than an assault i always preferred the old mad cat and the all time favorite was the awesome for me fast heavily armored and with 4 large clan lasers able to put any mech down with 3-4 well placed shots. but i have to admit they are 2 of the nicest lookin mechs other than the nova cat

I agree with MrNoobTube here, the game itself isn't bad just because it tried to be more accessible to the average gamer. Mechassault, while not where I first learned of the series, is where I first had my encounter playing it. It is what drew me into the whole universe. While not exactly very accurate, it is a good way to draw in people who will then dig deeper into battletech and find the real thing.

I'm not sure this guy knows anything about the Timber Wolf and Mad Cat MkII beyond what Microsoft has fleshed out.

The Timber Wolf (known to the Inner Sphere as the Mad Cat, so named by ComStar Precenter Martial Anastacious Foct) is the most visible 'Mech used by the Clans for a number of reasons. The Mad Cat MkII was made after the failed invasion by Clan Diamond Shark as a way to make money. It is not very popular, etiher in the Clans or the Inner Sphere. Nobody knows why.

Well it depend on who you use it, sure it sucks in city terrains, however, in deserts and open fields, it is quite. Don't forget though that personal customization of the mech comes into play as well, just replace the LRMs with CSTRKs and, if I remmber the two slots in the center being etc., either the LBX scatter shot or ultra ACs.

A shame really, since FASA did the designs much more justice. the Warhammer Battlemech is called the Destroid Tomahawk in Macross, and is supposed to be state of the art, and just ends up being cannon fodder.

The Warhammer is probably one of the best and most usefull mech's in Battletech - if not THE best.

erm... like frogjedi said, you're wrong. I don't even know what the hell was in the minds of the mechassault designers when the created the game, but the Timberwolf and the Mad Cat are one and the same in the PROPER Battletech/Mechwarrior universe. You can customize them to any extent you wish - they're Omnimechs, meaning that they can mount any type of weapon in an Omni slot.

Seriously, go play the PC games.
