  • if anyone will go to heaven it should be her.

  • Have you ever seen a more polished and spot on live performance by a group? I may be swayed by my love for their music, but everytime I listen to AKUS I am grateful. Oh, but how these people must have felt at this concert. Jerry's performance is unparalled in my humble opinion. And what can be for said for Alison? No words can describe.......

  • They are headlining in Floyd, Va this year. I'm dying to see them.

  • This was in Louisville Ky, for the ppl who think other wise, I know I wass there. Also notice how the crowed goes nuts when he says Kentucky in the song man of constant sorrow.t

  • like i dont even understand how someone can make this sound come out of a guitar and sound so clean

  • Please don't even mention the auto tune abomination. I'd rather hear someone sing out of tune. Union Station should make anyone using it ashamed

  • I think 97.6% Alison and Union Station. The rest?...speakers,cables,mics,audience,venue. Id bet there was a fair amount of dvd post production? Whats wrong with that? It sounds incredible because they are incredible.

  • That's game face on the banjo player right there!

  • Is that Gerard Butler on slide guitar?

  • @MrUnseeminglySound No Jerry Douglas.

  • HEY BLUE RIDGE HERE TOO!

  • wow this is music

  • Went to georgia and tennesee in a cabin both times grilling on the porch great view of the smokies and the good old blue ridge mtns.

  • Go Dan Tyminski on the Guitar/Vocals on the boy who wouldn't hoe corn

  • it was definitely Atlanta, consider the encore selection at this show. "Oh Atlanta."

  • Is there a better ensemble of musicians in this genre on the planet? I sure think not.

  • was this at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Ga?

  • @mikeA6q yeah, that's the atlanta fox theatre with that blue sky ceiling

  • @mikeA6q for what it's worth, this concert took place at the Palace Theatre in Louisville, KY. I have the DVD and that's what it says in the notes that came with it. back then they always closed with "oh atlanta", I've been told, since there wasn't an "oh louisville" they could play .....

  • @mikeA6q Nope the Palace in Louisville.

  • Jerry Douglas is a BAAAAADDDDD boy!

  • Saw these guys in Daytona at Bethune-Cookman a couple years back. They're all true musical phenoms. Lick for Lick, Cut for Cut they are the best blue-grass folks out there doing what they do! I started playing Square Neck Dobro because of Jerry Douglas! This solo in particular was my inspiration. I wish the "Paper Airplane Tour" would come close to Tampa.

  • Such anenergy this is O_O, it's goosebumps FTW!!!

  • this is what the south sounds like. <3

  • holy crap. just seen the band in concert in jerry's hometown of warren ohio. they have the best live performance of any band i have ever seen. if you get the chance to see them do it.

  • Jerry Douglas is the man!!

  • astounding and sublime

  • is this complete concert on video?

  • @cashman3500 It is; it's "Alison Krauss and Union Station Live" from 2002. I found it on amazon for about $10. It was worth it, there are so many good performances on it, some more of them are on youtube.

  • Just sublime...

  • How is it possible? Just unbelievable

  • great ! ! !

    love this song

    from germany

  • Going to see them next month... EEEKK CANT WAIT!!

  • What a technician!!!! Great!!! Very Blessed!!!

  • real artistic performance 2 thumbs up

  • seen them live in st augustine florida and i had great seats. it was amazing and 100 percent real music.

  • One of my all time favorite songs, hands down!

BUT, go ahead and hit stop at 5:48 so your ears don't bleed.

  • my eyes tear up when she sings. this is so f... brilliant

  • Fantastic musicians! Thank you for You Tube that I know Alison and Union Station, because in my Homeland their music does not broadcast the media!!!!!

  • Jesus this is powerful stuff

  • If you want Auto-Tune, listen to T-Pain.

  • Excellent, as always from Dan and the rest of that group. Auto Tune? Hah! He's sounded like this long before that mess came alone. Leave Auto Tune to the new crop of so-called country singers. I've never heard of a bluegrass singer using it. Bluegrass lends itself to parking lot and other off stage venues where a defective ear and voice would easily be revealed. Auto Tune? Look for the stage dependent performers; there's a reason why they cling to the microphone.

Dan is as good as he sounds.

  • @Canoe571 well said! these are real musicians, none of that fake cable tv marketed crap.

  • @szatmar666 I completely agree with you. Every one else are just mixed sounds and not their true voice. They probably don't have the nerve if they were told to sing a natural note in front of them. It would most likely sound like a screeching wounded owl...

  • @Canoe571 Very well said, 1 mic, tuned instruments and a few million tonnes of talent is all it takes, They been playing this way since the Irish landed on america, and they got it right the first time.

  • From one who works in the studio, Auto-Tune, sorry you are so wrong...it's just really well performed...Dan doesn't need gadgets.

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahahaha!!! auto-tune? seriously? HAHAHAHA this what a professional musician sounds like dumbass. when you are on the level these guys are on, you play perfection with out even trying. passion=perfection

  • that is the best flat top pickin ive ever heard

  • Auto-tune?

That's the funniest damn comment I've ever heard on you tube.

  • @rubbersole79 "Dan Tyminski : The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn". its a BBC four video. this is him not auto tuned. compare the two.

  • @pharaohoftheincubi

I seriously doubt AKUS relies on electronic gadgets for live performances.....research it and get back to me.

  • @rubbersole79 haha! no, i can hear that its there. YOU research it and get back to ME. this is what im saying though. I dont think she does 'rely' on auto tune, i dont think either of them do. they are both excellent singers. i think in post-production some foolish person has said lets just slap some auto tune on it.

  • @pharaohoftheincubi

....then your hearing is off. Not there.

  • @rubbersole79 ok mate. what ever makes u feel good.

  • this it the best

  • Great musicians. Great voice.

  • @pharaoh no auto tune here thats pure bluegrass friend

  • fuck sake! i bet ths wud have been great with OUT the fucking autotune! annoyed. were not trying to be lil wayne or snoop dog out here.

  • @pharaohoftheincubi no auto-tune dude. that's just the way Tyminski sings in this song...

  • @daryleddy erm.. no.. coz iv heard other of his live stuff where there is no auto tune nd its completely different, in a good way. and i work with auto tune alot. this auto tune sounds over done and fake and takes some of the emotion away. its even worse on alison krausses vox. n i kno they both are amazing singers and i just dont think it was necessary.

  • @pharaohoftheincubi There is no autotune in this dude, its 100% union station. These are real musicians, the cream of the crop who hone their skills and practice their material until its in their blood. They sound this good because quite frankly they are. Besides, if you have pitch you can hear him fade slightly flat on a couple notes.

  • @bigkev300 im not saying it sounds good. i think it sounds fake. i much preffer the more emotive, untuned vox. When you auto tune vocals, to avoid the singer sounding completely like a robot you have to leave some of the pitchyness in it. the auto tune process isnt like 'auto tune is on or its off'. u have to fine tune it. it takes a while. any way. copy and paste this into youtube "Dan Tyminski : The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn". its a BBC four video. this is him not auto tuned. compare the two.

  • @pharaohoftheincubi Dude, I'm sorry, but you are ignorant. Just accept it.

  • @uberrawesomee My last message, Im bored now.

Do you have anything to do with music apart from listening to it? Coz I do. Have you ever even owned recording or production equipment? Coz Ive had my own for years. Does your career rely solely on your ability to listen and know exactly how to make very fine adjustments to vocals and other instruments? Coz mine does. Are you a vocal producer and technician? Coz I am. Im 24 years old and live in a 4 bedroom 3 story house. So I must know something ey.

  • @pharaohoftheincubi First of all, the correlation between the size of your home and your music knowledge is non-existent. Second of all, I do indeed own recording equipment and know how it works quite well. I also have grammatical skills quite beyond what you seem to be capable of; does that have anything to do with whether or not I know if auto-tuning is being used? I also live in North Carolina and have seen such music like this played live many times. You just don't know talent.

  • Comment removed

  • lol! whatever little kid. the correlation is that people PAY me for my MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE. Enough for me to make a proper living and have a fairly nice house. Anyway, congrats on your impeccable grammatical skill. I'm sure you'll make an awesome secretary. :)

  • @pharaohoftheincubi It's funny because you act as if you're better than me by responding to my comment with a "lol! whatever little kid." Good job. I'm not even much younger than you by the way.

  • Comment removed

  • @uberrawesomee Seriously, check out this video of them. Same song, just WITHOUT the autotune. I preffer it. You'll see what I'm talking about. /watch?v=Z5X4Q6jFtHg

(Okay, this really is my last message. lol)

  • @pharaohoftheincubi LOL That just shows you don't know what you are talking about. This is from a DVD , your link is from a television program. Neither can be compared ( especially since the purpose of that show is to do the song differently) but neither is actually really Live. In both sound editors have been at work.

You want to talk "auto tune" talk one of the many amateur vid of a concert and any AKUS fan can assure you...no auto tune.

  • Three things that stand out in this clip...Jerry Douglas is a master of the dobro, enough said. When Ron Block and Alison join in at 3:08, it's pure heaven. And, my goodness, Alison on the fiddle at 3:51, pure mastery!

  • the three dislikes should get slaped in the fuckin face

  • This kind of music is great when you're sitting around a camp fire enjoying life!

  • GREAT FIDDLE............

  • Excellent stuff.

  • !!!

  • love this music it beats any hip hop any day any time any where hooah

  • @armyblaze22 Rap/hiphop does´nt even sort under the category of music, it´s just talking to a monotuos rhythm

  • 2 people didnt hoe corn

  • I see Ron Block pickn that banjo at the gates of heaven dueling with lead guitarist from AC/DC in an epic battle of the strings lol

  • @jezx21 far out

  • @jezx21 Angus Young vs. Jerry Douglous. That would be EPIC!

  • sitting on a porch in the Georgia mtns.,glass o' sweet tea in hand and dog sitting by you, hearing some of this...

  • @psychlyst sounds like the perfect life ;)

  • @psychlyst Sure love those Georgia mtn's I used to live in Otto N.C but loved to go to GA and sightsee and eat at Dillards restaurant where they used to cook the best food in all world....that was back in the early 90's

Great memories there.....sure do miss em.

  • @psychlyst GA + MTNS = yeah right pal . . .with love, Idaho

  • @birkr BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS

  • @emileS317 highest point, 6,684 ft. . .that is not a MTN, at least not on this side of the Mississippi

  • @birkr don't be a cunt, the great smoky mountains have been around longer than your unintelligent genes should ever be... not everyone lives in the alps, don't ever hate on the blue ridge mother fuckin mountains, bitch

  • @Renrag000 Is it really necessary to resort to foul language?? It is possible to get your point across without using it and you would actually sound intelligent. The language just makes it sound like you've never come down from the mountains.....

  • WHATA SOUND...

  • I get to see them at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley in June. Aren't you jealous?

  • Hell fire! This makes the hairs on my hairs on my neck stand up!!! ;) Simply superb!!!!!

  • Jerry Douglas...master of the dobro.

  • Dan Tyminski is the man!

  • It really just doesn't get any better than this. It's superb mastership over instrument & voice. It's almost spiritual, wouldn't you agree?

  • @tinacious1969 Indeed i would agree!

  • He tore that dobro up!

  • One of the best concerts I ever went to was Alison Krause and Union station in Sun Valley, Idaho. I got to spend 2 hours standing 20 feet from this amazing group of artists. A memorable experiece indeed.

  • soooo sweet, i love this song

  • WOW! All of them. Love it.

  • He doesn't even try when he sings. its amazing.

  • The one person who disliked this has mental problems.

  • @daftintendo No they just forgot to hoe their corn or they didn't go for a longing.

  • He is just. Fantastic.

  • does charlie daniels play a mean fiddle?

  • Every musician on that stage is amazing. Bluegrass supergroup.

  • One of the best bands out there. They have two great singers. Alison is the most talented woman I have ever seen with the most angelic voice in the world. and she is a fantastic fiddle player at that. I like all kinds of music as my name would tell you but AKUS is in my top three no question. If I could meet anyone in the world I think it would be Alison to lol. She is simply wonderful to listen to.

  • Now this is real music....Fiddle does sound amazing!!!! love it : )

  • @1Ocqueoc Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the banjo and Ron Block is the man. They are all fine musicians. But I have never heard bluegrass fiddle or violin that has a warm tone like the one Allison plays.

  • @graffin00000

Now if it would only shut up and let Union Station play some bluegrass full time.
