There is no requirement that any book, or in particular a book of sacred text, be used to administer the oath, and none is mentioned in the Constitution. With the use of the Bible being customary for oaths, at least in the 18th and 19th centuries, a Bible was generally used.
Perhaps a good idea would be a symbol of E Pluribus Unum included in the Seal of the United States.
The whole idea on swearing on something is just silly. What does that change? Nixon was close to being a psychopath, yet he had little trouble swearing on the christian bible.

@mechanicmike69 That is a gnostic belief that requires evidence. If I was to state "" Aliens dont exist, this is a fact"" that is not the same claim as ""I dont believe aliens exist"" . The last one is a rejection of a claim based on lack of evidence, and the first one is a claim itself.

I have concluded that I dont believe in God because there is no evidence. You have made up a religion that states there is no god. The two claims are very different.
