you are right on the high Volt drills , I cut my hand auger to put atachment on for my dewalt 18 volt and there just wasnt enough torch ..It took 2 mins to drill 2 inches of ice , and the drill kept slipping . so I will stick to my jiffy propane auger. they say to disconnect the propane -they dont say if you dont disconnect the propane it will empty the tank. live and learn .
So to sum this up.....after use you will be standing there with 3 holes in the ice and a mangled broken arm. Hey at least its 5 lbs lighter than a gas auger =-/. Stick to a gas one. These are SUPER dangerous for drilling like that and like he said the battery doesnt last for piss.
I feel it was a fair evaluation of the plus's and minuses associated with such systems. For some, this is the best option, maybe not so much for others. There is a lot of early ice applications where I see this as very beneficial.
not really...a good gas auger is 400..at least now days! The purpose for these was for remote lakes where is isn't very practical to haul in a gas auger. Like he said these do have a purpose
tha whole set up of one of those costs more than jus buying a regular gas auger...wats the point of buying the set up of a electric auger when you can buy a gas auger with no limitations to the ice or temp at a lower price...
