those who can be seen as very uneffective units are for example: Volkssturm, Ostbattalions, Vlassow Army, Balkan Waffen SS divisions, Volksgrenadiere or the divisons who were "bodenständig"
the Americans never faced a full strength German army with an air force. The D-Day invasion was against a remanant or German forces and their main troops were in the east.
The fact of the matter is that the U.S does have the best special forces. First becuase of their training. second because of there ability to think. third good weapons don't make good soldiers it is the the soldiers ability to use the weapons they have that makes good soldiers and any one that thinks soldiers are mindless drones needs to talk to have their head examined. Modern "wars" are fought against insurgents, check out documentaries on modern US special forces. They are the ones going house to house, using the local civilian population to get them vital intel. Because they too hate the terrorists amongst them.

Delta forces is a real specially trained us army unit. Seals are trained and they have a Delta unit involved with them as well. Rangers have been know as an elite unit in all of US military. Green Berets a long history of being one of the best special forces units in all of the world. So that so called Hollywood IMAGE is running your nation I'm sure of it! As far as I can see all of Europe has powered down their militarizes because the us doesn't want to save them again.

You saved europe? well that's a good one. Heard of "battle of bulge". Germans used only one attack and almost wipe you all out of the game. Russians saved us. @LongHuII This Vid is interesting because it shows a glimps of German fighting tactics. The Germans' military strength was managed through mission-based tactics (rather than order-based ) as the Marines still have it. As you can see on the vid the Comander arrived later due to problems with his glider. Patton copied the tacticts of the Germans successfully moving fast forward with tank battalions...

@Grcar57 true words. True words. I think its hard for a country of todays western luxury-standard to have brave, yet hardened men. So I guess the list of able and dedicated fighters that rank before america is much longer. Just like you say... most lack equipment and support. I also think it is a question of how a state is run. Dictatorship and police-states might not be the way to go... but they can make people endure much harder treatment in training... without getting sued or watched.

@Grcar57 objective and wrong..lol...no not just any mcfatso can join a special forces team..ie; green berets and so on. a very intensive exam.score of 260 out of 300 required for physical fitness.secret clearances, etc etc. not just green berets, but other special forces as well, plus the green berets train the special forces of other countries

the Waffen SS at dien bien phu is a big myth, in 1947 the FFL caught on and heard that ex-SS were trying to enter the legion and forbade further enlistment of SS.

not a myth a lot of Waffen SS joined the FFL later on and died in Dien Bien Phu. What kind of live you can expect after your tour of duty with the Marines. I think you have no qualified skilles or an apprenticeship as so many of your Marine comrades. Nobody needs an ex -marine with military skills in a civilian business. Well you can work as Truckdriver or Guardsmen or McDonalds
