Let's at least get some perspective. Just because Marion Jones has been caught does not mean every American athlete is cheating. America is still probably the top nation in terms of sporting achievement. I don't think they are as far ahead as they used to be, but they don't all become cheats overnight. My interest is sprinting and I don't think anyone would deny that it is the Caribbean that is producing the world's top sprinters. The US can win without drugs, but this affects all countries.

We can't start blaming America and saying they can't win without drugs. I'm from the UK and our top sprinter Dwain Chambers is a convicted drugs cheat. The British Olympic Committee did make a stand and say he'll never compete for the UK at the Olympics even though technically he has served his mandatory ban. In the late seventies, I remember the East German women were setting world records (Marita Koch) that even now no-one can get near. This is a global issue - not just an American one.
